ABOVE:  In case you didn't know it by now... I'm not a morning person.

It always takes me a good hour after waking before I'm ready to get outta bed.

And even then I'm grumpy about it.

Most of the time I only get up cos I'm busting for a piddle!

Then I'm up, and I feel like it's me duty to open the curtains, let the dogs out and ... well, by the time I've done all that I can't be fagged getting back into bed.

COS I'M UP.  Pfffft.

Sometimes my feet start twitching, which means I have something I really want to do, so getting up isn't quite so bad.  But not often.

Anyone else like me?  I can't be alone on this, right?

Today I'm getting up to this:

ABOVE:  A pile of washing to fold up.  And this makes me sad.

Cos it reminds me of my Mum.

She didn't like folding washing either.

She used to keep it all in the spare bedroom in Atiamuri, it would cover an entire single bed sometimes!

Also, weirdly, we both love(d) to fold linen!  Not clothes, socks, undies etc.  Just the linen.

I'm obviously like me Mum.  That makes me smile, even though I am feeling sad.

So, today's plan is to do the housework, make 3 pouches, have lunch, then make 3-4 bowl cosy's.

3.25 pm: Well hell, I totally forgot to update on here like, all day!
I've been busy sewing.  Just like I said I would be.
And now I'm taking a break.

I want a medal.  For keeping my mouth SHUT.  That's all.

So tired this evening.  I can't stop yawning.  So it will probably be a reasonably early night for me.
Catch ya tomorrow.

  1. My laundry pile looks just like that. It is on the couch. Usually, with the dog using it as a pillow.

Yep, you’re right Chris, we are all different. I love getting up, I get up around 5.30am, have a very strong coffee, then head out for my 8 kilometre walk, which is beautiful as I live not far from the beach, so it’s stunning. I feel great every morning, so am very lucky (even though my knees and back are stuffed, but the walking does wonders). Marie, Melbourne

  3. I found that it’s easier if I fold the washing as I take it off the line I try to do all of hubbys first, boxers and socks first in the bottom of the basket then singlets/tshirts etc. Then when I have to put away it’s a matter of pulling the stack of shirts out of the basket and putting it straight in the drawer. Mind you I have been known to have more than one basket in the wait line

That's why I always fold the washing as I get it off the line and put it in the basket. Then it's done. It's also just as easy, if not easier. Try it. You won't be sorry :) x Colleen

  5. Once I'm up that's it. Husband can get up and go back to bed several times. Maybe it's a bloke thing with all the piddling they do.

  6. It is getting close to the anniversary of your Mum, I know with Gary’s it is always a bit difficult & I get a bit more melancholy & sentimental. Let yourself feel it 💕

  7. Ive got a load of folding to do too just not up to it. Im up at least 5 times a night to the loo so dnt fnd it heard to go back to bed but if its daylight i feel i should get up dont know y i do nothing all day

  8. Your mornings sound just like mine. I wake around 7 but don't get up for an hour or so or read blogs till I have to get up to pee. And yeh, then I have to feed the cat, do a chore or two and that's it, damn it.
But we do have siesta here !! What a great tradition. Another reason to lie down for an hour, or so, to read or listen to youtube, or just snooze 😴😁

  9. Have a good weekend.
