PULLING FINGER

Morning!

Feeling more motivated today, yesterday was just a bust.  Best not to think too hard about it.

I'm going to take myself out for a walk, even if it's raining.

Then once I'm home again, I shall work on the latest runner on the go.

ABOVE:  I am so happy to see leaves appearing on the maple tree again.   It looks so forlorn when it's naked, and it leaves such a big, empty spot on the boundary.

Bring it on, SPRING is here.

HOME DETAILS

I thought I'd share our listing/photos on here, the more reach the better right?

ABOVE:  I have to say, I'm very happy with our photos.  The photographer did a good job.

If you wish to look at our listing, the link is:

Now what are my plans for today?

I'm gunna re-dye my hair.  That takes a good couple of hours.

ABOVE:  Bex trimmed the short 'n' curlies from around the base of my hair last night.  Sure looks like a lot of hair went in the bin!  But, it needed to be done.  They never get any longer than that and just look messy.

After I've dyed my hair, I'm going to run a brush around the edges of the pool and turn the filter on.  It's back to daily maintenance, so it looks good for Open Homes etc.

ONWARD...

10.08 am, and I just went out and bought some toner for me hair.   I don't want to go yellow, so I chose SILVER!   I might end up looking grey.

And I don't even care.   I'm in a bit of a mood today.

The pool is brushed and filtering.

Me hair is wrapped in cling wrap, it has to stay like that for 40 minutes, then rinse and repeat with the toner.

It's a process, but at least it ain't costing me $310 at a hair salon.

I'm in the sewing room, looking at the latest runner on the go.  Not even interested in working on that right now.

In our next house I fully expect to be back working in a garage.  And I don't mind.  It's the price I pay for us deciding to downsize.

I have been very spoilt in this home, I know that.  But, there's more to life than having a big sewing room.  Like no mortgage, and taking some time to travel etc.

Dyed the hair - tick.

Toned the hair - tick.

Looked at the hair.

BRIGHT YELLOW!

FUCK FUCK FUCK.

Pour PURPLE Shampoo on the hair.

Leave for an hour.....

ABOVE:  There's a tinge on purple in the very front, and a very slight yellow tinge towards the back. It will do.

That is such a long process, even doing it at home.  I'm now exhausted!  Gunna go watch a movie and chill out for a while.

3.48 pm:  Much later.  Done bugger all today.  Just fluffing around in the house, tidying up a couple of areas.  It's a dreary day, overcast, threatening to rain, but not yet.

Cold.   I don't function well when cold, so I might just turn on the heating and warm this place up a bit.

Well I cheered up with the heat pump on!  Gosh it was so cold today.

It was our usual sort of evening, watching the telly, chatting etc.  Had a lovely phone call from Stew's sister, Khady, who's down in Wanganui.

She is also selling her home and moving, but still staying in Wanganui.  So, fingers crossed for her too.

Right, I'm going to bed, it's warmer there.

Catch ya tomorrow.

SECRET...

SORRY I KEPT A SECRET FROM ALL OF YOU.

It's something that has been going on for about 3 months now.

Three months ago I started a BIG de-clutter here.

There was an ulterior motive, besides wanting to get rid of surplus stuff around here.

This is why:

ABOVE: We are selling this home and moving on!!!

Yep, Stew made a suggestion three months ago, and instead of waiting a few years (as he thought we would), I jumped head first in and started the process.  I don't do 'waiting' too well!

And within three months I had convinced him now was the time.  And we put our home on the market three weeks ago!

We have our 4th Open Home this afternoon.

So there ya go.  Lots of stuff has been going on here, and will continue to 'go on' until we sell.

We have decided not to divulge any other information about why we are moving, or where, for privacy sake.

When we first listed our house, we did it through Harcourts.  But our agent moved to another Real Estate firm, and we decided to stay with her, and so we moved too.

There will be a new, BIG billboard up outside our home sometime next week.

Every day for the past three weeks, the first thing I have done is get the house 'spic and span', just in case I get a phone call saying there is going to be a private viewing.

We have had a few now.  It is stressful.  It is tiring.  But I'm coping.

Our daytrip yesterday was so needed.  I wanted to get out of the house, far, far away!  I needed a break from it all.

It's only been less than a month, but I know it could drag on for a few more months yet.

I hate selling houses!  HATE IT.

But, it's something we thought about, discussed, wrote a list of PRO'S and CON'S, and decided it was the right thing for us to do.

All going well, I will be fluffing around and re-arranging furniture in a new home!

Are you surprised, or did you guess our news?

ONWARD...

9.35 am.

We have spent the morning getting the house ready for this afternoons Open Home.

We've got it down to a fine art now.

It only takes about an hour!

But then, we've had plenty of experience in this eh?

This move will be to our eighth home since we got together. Not counting the home I was living in, at Whitianga, way back in 1985.

My God, we will have been together FORTY YEARS next September.

How does time fly by so fast?

So back to right now,  I've got a nasty headache, so have taken some pills and am lying down for a while.

We don't need to do anything else now, until the last quarter of an hour, when we make sure there's no dog doo doos on the ground, and turn on all the lights.

Then we bugger off and leave it up to the Estate Agent to do her thing.

7.44 pm: We've had a busy afternoon/evening.

Open Home went OK.  Small turn out, which is the norm for now.

Our friend Jacqui from Tauranga arrived just before our Open Home.  So she took herself off to The Base, and came back for dinner.

Steve, Bex and the kids came for dinner as well.

I cooked sausages, meatballs, hash browns and salad.  That went down well with everyone.

Steve had steak, eggs and cheese as he's on a different diet to cater for his health issues.

ABOVE:  The three 'girls'.

ABOVE:  Marley being adorable.

ABOVE:  The girls begging for a tid bit from Steve.  He obliged, of course.  😊

It's now 7.50 pm and everyone has left and it's back to just him 'n' me.

Catch ya tomorrow.

DAY TRIP FOR A SWIM

Good morning.

We have decided to go on a day trip to Taupo/Wairakei today.

Lunch in Taupo, then a swim at the hot pools at Wairakei.  Sounds like a lovely way to spend a wet day eh?

It won't matter if it's raining, we will be getting wet anyway!

Before we leave Stew will do his weekend shopping.  While he's out, I will get the house spic 'n' span.  It's always nice to come back home to no jobs to do.

So...

ONWARD...

Getting stuff ready to go.

And I realise something pretty quick.

I ain't got any togs (swimmers/bathing suit)!

Remember all the de-cluttering I did a couple of months ago?

Where I went through my clothes and took a WHOLE HEAP away to the op shop?

Seems my togs went too.

So once we get to Taupo I will need to pop into Farmers and get me a new pair of togs, or I ain't going swimming!

I don't think going 'Commando' is allowed there.  lol

ABOVE: First stop ... The Bakery in Tirau, where the queue was out the door. Its such a popular bakery.

ABOVE: My Lamb, Mint and Pea Pie. It was AMAZING!

We are now back on the road.

ABOVE: Two hours later.... and we are heading home after a really wonderful soak.  You don't 'swim' in these pools, its too hot.
There's  four pools, each is a different  temperature.
They go from FUCK THATS HOT, to tepid. lol

WHERE IS EVERYONE? Is blogger having a glitch, or are you just not talking to me?   Pfffffft.

6.11 pm:  We are home.  We unpacked our day bag, then turned around and went out for dinner.

ABOVE: Dinner this evening was a shared platter, followed by a shared butter chicken.  Very nice from the Davies Corner Indian Restaurant for a change.

Now that we are home, it's time to simply relax for the remainder of the evening.
Catch ya tomorrow.

Where I spill my guts on our secret.

BLACK FRIDAY

I don't have to get up early for anything, so I won't!

It's cold.  Not conducive to getting outta bed yet, that's for sure.

Once up, I am going to finish that runner I made yesterday:

ABOVE:  I made the binding for it last night, so It won't take long to finish it off.

ABOVE:  Steve and the boys playing with Lily last night, one of the boys threw a soft bouncy ball, and Steve got Lily to kick it... well he swung her legs up to kick it. lol  Lily loved the game.

ABOVE: Dante's face!   I don't know what sort of pose he was going for... but it's a bit funny.

ABOVE:  Lily is one very loved, spoilt baby girl.

The entire family just dote on her.

Right, enough yakkity yak, I suppose I should get up.  *sigh*

Catch ya later.

ONWARD...

10.20 am:  And all the morning jobs are done, and I've finished this:

ABOVE:  It's rather nice.  Not as colourful and VIBRANT as the first one, but still to my liking.

I'm THINKING of making ONE more, using a different colour for the contrast, instead of black.  JUST TO SEE HOW IT WOULD LOOK.

So now the decision is ... colourful or muted?

FUNNY!   I had actually thought of doing the next one in browns\creams and orange! I even got all the fabrics out of the cupboard.

But decided I preferred this instead:

ABOVE:  So I've been working on this one half the day, on top of fluffing around in the house, having lunch, entertaining a friend, bla bla bla.

It's now 5.10 pm and I've had enough of the sewing room.  So I shall pack up and go inside the house for some R & R.

ABOVE:  Why not?  Friday night tipple.  Bubbles.

9.18 pm:  Time to sign off for the day.  We are heading off to bed soon.
Catch ya tomorrow.
