HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Let's all do our best to make it a better one that last year.
That shouldn't be too hard.
I am going to do my best to put last year behind me... and learn from what it taught me.
The biggest lessons?
ABOVE: That about sums it up really.
This year, no 'resolutions' as such. I just want to move forward and have a good year with those that actually care about STEW AND I.
I plan on focusing all my energy on loved ones, and making sure those that would hurt or stress us out are not in our lives.
Thank You to everyone who reads my blog (without malicious intentions), or is a real life (we have actually met you!) friend.Stew and I and our family truly appreciate each and every one of you, especially during our sad and difficult times.
Stew relented last night, and we did end up having a fire to gather around:
ABOVE: It was so lovely and warm.
At this point in time, I have no idea what our plans are for today, except stay home and have family here.
We shall have Lacy and Keera here, and later on today we expect MIKE and JOYCE too.
THAT is going to be a most wonderful start to this New Year.
I don't know how many of you know this, but Keera does not live with us or Lacy.
So Lacy has access visits, which for the time being are held here with us.
How sad and twisted is it that we now feel like we have to do this:
ABOVE: We have to record for our own safety, that she is properly fed. So there ya go. Food for the day. And she has free access to water.
Not only that, but we also feel we have to photograph all marks and bruises on her body when she arrives, so we are not accused of hurting her. And OMG were there a LOT of bruises on that child today!
And this is brought about by so called FAMILY.
12.23 pm: And we finally have the grape vine completely covered! It took way longer than I thought it would... most things I think are going to be a quick and easy job, ARE NOT.
The poor guys must roll their eyes every time I ask them to do anything.
ABOVE: It would have to be a damn clever bird to get in there now!
ABOVE: Mum and daughter, playing with a flying Fairy. Rather cute.
ABOVE: Steve securing the mouse to the fence... which has now had it's varnish sprayed on. It MIGHT be going out to the tree THIS AFTERNOON for a 'trial run' on positioning and so on.
For sure, I will be able to show it to you in it's entirety, TOMORROW.
ABOVE: Well... the kids arrived safe and sound. And, we should have known Mike would AGAIN look like a 'Viking'!
Tomorrow he is going to get a haircut.
ABOVE: It is scary how that hair grows!
ABOVE: Mike is not a swimmer ... so this was the first time he'd been in a pool or any body of water in many, many years. As for Joyce? She's a pussy and didn't even want to get in. She can swim, but not well.
4.19 pm: I have a pork roast in the oven, with onions and kumera. There will be 'smashed' potatoes and other veges on the side. I am already drooling.
10.15 pm: And I'm knackered. Dinner was delicious. The kids spent most of the evening here, then they (Mike and Joyce) went over to Steve 'n' Bex's to spend the remainder of the night there. We will see them again first thing in the morning.
But for now... I'm off to bed. It's a bit early for me, but as I said, I'm knackered.
It's been a long and happy day.
Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Chris. Starting a new year with people who love and care rather than those who bring you down is a fantastic start to 2021. How wonderful that Mike and Joyce will be visiting.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and your families, let us hope that it is a better year for us all. You have had a rotten year and it WILL get better this year. Another 5 hours before we in the UK have our New Year.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Chris to you and the family. That fire looks lovely, what a great way to see in the New Year. Thank you for the inspiration you have been to me this past year.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and the family

Goodness, so many of your words have struck a chord with me. This year has certainly taught me what is important and also shown me who I'm important to (does that make sense?) and I guess you could say I've (finally) woken up and smelled the coffee...I've drunk quite a lot of the stuff too lol!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and your dear ones. Roll on 2021! Much love x
Oh - I am so happy you had a fire. I kind of want to have one tonight. But it is going to be 10 degrees F, or -12 C. Which isn't actually too bad for December in Minnesota. At least it is above ZERO F.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year making memories awesome start to year between the pool and brazier and family what more could you want

Happy New Year and I hope 2021 is a better year for all of us.
ReplyDeleteTo you and yours, all good wishes for a healthy and happy 2021-
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Chris, we are still "eve" at the present time. No family get togethers for us, we are in lock down.
ReplyDeleteAll the best for 2021. Hugs
Happy New year to you and your family. I know you are so excited to see Mike. May this year be kind and peaceful to your family!
ReplyDeleteHappy new year to you and yours. Let's hope 2021 is a better year for everyone x
ReplyDeleteOMG - It's not even a little bit funny. But, to think that Keera could possibly go hungry at your house is Ludacris. But, documenting her care and well being is easy enough to do and probably a good idea. Did Keera get new glasses? She looks happy and healthy to me!
ReplyDeleteI am still contemplating having a New Years Bon Fire tonight. Hey, it's still above zero - which is like the tropics here in Minnesota. So perhaps! Hmmm , maybe we need some marshmallows?
Happy New Year!!!
ReplyDeleteCheers Peta
Hi Chris, I've only commented a couple of times but I was touched by your words today thanking your blog readers so I wanted to reciprocate and thank you for blogging. I really enjoy hearing about your life. It's sad that you have been hurt by family. I wish you and yours a wonderful 2021. Jo in Wisconsin.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year !!! I think 2021 might still be a bit rough around the edges, but l am hoping for the best!!
ReplyDeletehappy new year Chick!!!! Here's hoping to a better 2021 xxxxxx
ReplyDeleteHappy New Years, I agree to take care and love those who care for us. Jo x
ReplyDeleteHappy new year, Chris to you and your family. That is one impressive net on the grapes! May it now bring you a plentiful supply free from bird peck! Thank you for staying as a public blog - I don’t comment enough but I’m trying to do so more often. Can’t wait to see your fence!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I don’t know how anyone who knows you could ever believe/think you were capable of hurting Keera. It is clear how dearly she is loved whilst with you.
Liz
Keera is such a happy wee girl! So sad that she's not living with her Mum. Kids need their parents especially girls need their Mum's. Will she eventually live back with Lacy? We have the same thing happening in our family and it's bloody emotionally draining.
ReplyDeleteHoping you and Stew have a wonderful "2021" Chris! Sorry to hear about the issue of having to photograph the food you provide to Keera and her marks and bruises upon arrival at your house to protect yourselves. Hopefully, the spiteful people who cause you to have to do this will give up at some point. It was nice to see you and your family enjoying the outside fire.
ReplyDeleteBiggest bunch of lies ever I would love to see the court documents that state they have to to provide evidence of food
DeleteBeautiful Keera🙂as if you wouldn’t feed her. She’s well loved xx
ReplyDeleteHappy new year.
ReplyDeleteFun family gathering!
Living in Canada we call them sweet potatoes, so I had to Google Kamara! Keera is a beautiful little girl, she is so loved by your family. Happy New Year to you and your family, here we still have 3 1/2 hours left of 2020.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you Chris and your family. I hope 2021 brings you lots of joy & happiness!
ReplyDeleteKeera is growing up so fast What a gorgeous girl she is. Love the photo of Mike and Stew walking towards each other. You have really captured the moment Chris.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and yours Chris.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope its a lot better than 2020...
This makes me so happy that you see Mike! As for the Keera situation how sad you have to do that :( Anyone can see that you would never let harm come to her at your place. Sounds like a heavy situation so great idea to document to protect yourselves and Lacy. Happy New Year and have a great 2021 ❤️ One of my sons has grown his hair long and I keep suggesting he gets a haircut 😂
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year you gorgeous thing. Steve and Mike are so alike.
ReplyDeleteYour dinner sounds delicious. We are having pork apple and cider snags with salads. I love a good pork roast with all the trimmings but with only two of us it's a bit of a waste. For some reason I don't like cold pork.
Happy New Year to you all, look forward to reading your blog in 2021. Glad Lacy got her FIRE !! ♨♨
ReplyDeleteJane G
Happy New Year! Hope 2021 is a good one for you all.
ReplyDeleteKeera is gawjus! I thought Steve and his family had taken over care for her. Can Lacy not get custody?
ReplyDeleteAmanda Seaton
I was wondering the same thing. Lacy looks in good health and I do understand there may be a possibility of mental health problems but plenty of people with mental health problems have custody of their children. Not a dig Chris just curious!
DeleteHappy New Year Chris & co xx

Belated Happy New Year to you and the family. All the best for 2021.
