IM GUNNA BAKE

Sooooo......  Open Homes = lovely hot bread aroma wafting through the house.

LOL... but as I've not used the bread maker in YEARS... I am going to do a dummy run today.
I was lucky and found the recipe book for the bread baker last night too.

The reason I've not baked bread in YEARS is because when we were selling our Auckland home, I had to bake damn bread every single Sunday ... for over 8 months!  I came to hate that bloody machine.

So.  Herb Bread.  It's one of the easiest to make.
Damn lucky I kept out a few baking things, like the scales.  I bought some new yeast the other day as well ... I was pretty sure the yeast in my fridge was too old to rise.

Now, apart from baking bread, I shall be getting the pool up and running, scoop leaves and guff off the bottom, scrub and clean the sides and bomb it with chlorine!
And if it's raining, I'm still doing it!  It's gotta be done.

I've so thankful I covered it over winter, it's not GREEN at all.

So it should be a busy day.

ONWARD...

10.19 am:  Well the bread is cooking.  Do you know that once you turn it on, it spends like 40 minutes 'RESTING'... as in, doing NOTHING?  Crazy waste of time.

Anyway, it's now 'RISING'.  Not even baking yet.

And there ain't no nice aroma wafting my way yet.

The pool.  Well 2 weeks ago I showed the Real Estate agent under the cover... it was beautiful and CLEAR.
Today?  Fuck me, it's gone green!  Like not disgusting, dark, dank green, but still green.

ABOVE:  See?  It's a pretty green right?
I had to sweep it all over, then tie a towel to the end of the leaf scoop so I could reach the middle of the pool to wipe it all over.
Now I have the pump on, and I've added a shit load of chlorine and buffer to it. I hope that by running the pump on and off for the next two days it will clear up.

Otherwise it's not going to be looking that sharp for Open Homes on the weekend.

OMG! Can you believe we have our first Open Homes this weekend????  !!!!   My stomach churns just thinking about it.

Such BAD memories from our last experience up in Auckland.  Surely that won't happen again.

OOOoooo... I can hear the bread baker doing something... seems it's done its RESTING, and KNEADING, and now it's onto RISING.  After that is BAKING.  Whoop whoop. lol

11 am:   STILL....   RISING.

And I'm freezing, so have turned on the heat pump and am taking a break.  Might watch something I've taped on the telly.  Gawd, how lazy can ya get?  *smiles*

11.45 am:  OH WOW!  Look at this:

ABOVE:  Can you believe it?  It's clearing up super FAST.   I'm really relieved.  And happy.
It's going to be gorgeous by Saturday and Sunday.

LIZ:  I will certainly check out the cookbook and see if it has a Rapid Bake option.

TRACY:  Yeah, I'm gunna do some of them tomorrow, and see if they make the house smell lovely like the freshly baked bread out of the bread baker.

ABOVE:  1.30 pm:  Well skanky pants came out for a drive, and really, really wanted to try the bread.
So I let her have some.
Verdict: PERFECT.

Awesome.  It took exactly 4.5 hours.  So I know that I have to put it on at 8.15 am to have it ready for Open Home at 1 pm.

ANOTHER ...

DUCK.... IN A ROW.

ABOVE: Look at that!  Almost crystal clear again.

Shit it's been a good day.  I really thought it would take days to get the pool right again.
I've bought a little kid's blow up toy to put in the pool ... might do that tomorrow.

It's called 'staging' the pool ... right?  lol

Right, the day is done.  I'm tired but happy.
Looking forward to tomorrow... it's going to be a good day, Stew is going to be home all afternoon.

I only ever do the rapid bake on our bread machine - takes two hours which is about half the time of some of the other cycles!

    Pool looks awesome 👏 Liz

  2. I think there is a cheats way to get the lovely bread smell, just bung a loaf in the oven with a ramekin of water for about 15 minutes before the open home. Or get those par-cooked rolls, then you can have them for lunch after the open home :-)

  3. I was going to recommend the quick cycle too. And I can't even believe how quickly that pool water cleared up!

  4. For me it's the smell of fresh coffee! I'm glad the pool is clear already. Question: If you sell soon how will you bridge the gap of selling and buying? It must be pretty stressful :)

  5. A few weeks ago I was making a pot roast in my crockpot...The crockpot was sitting right under a kitchen window, which was open and a nice breeze was coming through...My yard man was here mowing and sweeping...before he left he said "wow, it smells like pot roast out here, it's sure gonna taste good"! So if your bread fails, which I'm sure it won't, you might try a pot roast...LOL! A little beef broth, garlic, salt and pepper evidently work wonders....LOL!
