WOW... SO EXPENSIVE!

So we are having a SMALL DECK at the end of the pool, for ease of access.

And the guys went out yesterday and bought the necessary timber for it.

Stew handed me the receipt when he got home, and I nearly fell over in shock!

So much money for such a small amount of timber.

ABOVE:  Not much ... for a thousand dollars!

Man it better be a nice looking friggin deck is all I can say.

So today the guys will be hoping to get all the water in the pool, and the plumbing connected up to the filter.  And maybe the deck sorted as well?  Who knows.
We are really, really hoping it's mostly all done by Wednesday, as they are going home on Thursday.

Also today, Sam the Electrician is coming back to change ALL THE LIGHT FITTINGS in the house!  And put in some more power points.
I have three pendant lights for the kitchen and one for over the dining table too.

It's going to be so neat having decent, bright lights in the house!  And they will be way cheaper to run too.  What's already here is not cost efficient at all.  And they are so DULL!

OMG I can't wait for decent lighting.

And that's all I have for now... I'll be back much later with some photos of the new pendant lights   ...   and other stuff.

ONWARD...

ABOVE:  Our electricians arrived bang on time... which is awesome.
That is the very first light getting replaced.
16 to go.

ABOVE: OMG we are so glad we didn't get to the vacuuming yesterday!  These guys are trying to contain the mess... but seriously.  They are making a whooah of a mess!

Lacy.... make sure ya come around tomorrow!  We got two vacuum cleaners!

ABOVE:  Look!  Stew is working on the deck.  I realised yesterday that most photos of the guys working lately have shown Steve working, and Stew standing with his hands on his hips.  lol

Rest assured, he has been working alongside his son. *smiles*

ABOVE:  Sam, working on the kitchen lighting... messy man!

The electricians are making great progress... I will take a video later on to show you the new pendant lights above the kitchen bench and dining table.  I love them!

5 pm:  and wow things are coming along!
The electricians have finished and left.
I've got a little video of both the lights and pool progress:

ABOVE:  So there ya go!
Tomorrow... we WILL be swimming... as long as it's warm enough.

The last few days we have had a really cold wind.  I will be gutted if I don't get a swim in before we go up to Whangarei on Thursday.

It's now 7.19 pm and the guys are STILL out there working on the pool and deck!  They haven't even stopped for dinner.  Man they are going to be tired tomorrow!

8.04 pm:  And the guys have finally finished for the day.  They have a few small bits to do tomorrow to finish it off, but it's basically done!
The pool is full of water, the deck is 90% done too.

ABOVE:  Steve trimming off the edges on the step up to the pool.  The ladder has not come with screws to attach it to the decking, so that has to wait until tomorrow.

ABOVE: Having a well earned beer after a full 12 hours out there today.  They were determined to get it done!
They decided not to jump in tonight, they are too tired.

TOMORROW... we should all be able to christen it.

And that's a wrap for today.  The guys have been SUPER productive today.  So thankful.

  1. Chris, if you were to have that Deck built by a tradesman other than Stew and Steve and had to pay them you would be looking at around $3000.00 maybe even more,

Looking amazing. I LOVE your new fence. It’s absolutely stunning.
Did the pool at your previous home require such detailed installation, or was it easier because it was all above ground? Liz

    1. It was a totally different pool... higher sides so didn't require fencing and it wasn't metal sided either.
