WILL THEY ARRIVE SOON?

I got a phone call from 'G' at Heathcoat's a couple of days ago.  He told me the new Oven had arrived into Hamilton, and they were just waiting on a small part for the Cooktop to arrive, then we could pick them up!

That is so exciting.

It means I will have to enlist Steve's carpentry skills soon, to make sure they will fit in the existing spaces in the kitchen.

The new oven is actually smaller in size than the old one.  So some tweaking of the space will need to be done.  It might mean I get an extra little shelf above or below the new oven.  That could be handy.

Once Steve has sussed the fit out, I can then call in an electrician to instal them properly.

So, fingers crossed I get the call to pick them up in the next day or two.

This morning I am going on a lake walk.  I might even do 1.5 times around the lake, to make it a bit longer.  I've missed my lake.  I wonder if anything has changed?

ONWARD...

10.30 am, and I am home from my walk.  I didn't end up at the lake as planned, as the weather was a bit WET.  And I didn't want to walk it on my own after reading on the news yesterday about some bloke sitting down by the lake doing 'ikky things' to himself, while people walked by!

Yeah Nah, not going to put myself in that position.

So the mall it was.

ABOVE: As per usual with walking in the mall, the only accurate stat above is the time!  Even the graphic is wonky as.

ABOVE:  As I had no one to talk to on my walk, I decided to talk ... TO YOU.  lol
I hope you don't get sick of listening to me.

Now that I'm home, I've certainly started to cool down.  Hmmm.... might get changed out of me walking clothes and into something a bit warmer.
Then I will decide what to do next.

Well next was just pottering around in the house, doing a bit more tidying up in the sewing room, and finding a few more things to take to the Op Shop.
I've also got the front bedroom ready for an unexpected overnight guest.

So here's a weird question.  What do ya do if you are not sewing, or crafting, or doing housework, and you are at home?
Because, I've not really needed to get anymore stuff made for markets, and am TOTALLY at a loss as to what to do with myself!

I do not want to tie myself down to a job, or even a volunteering one.  I want to be 'free' of commitments and stress.
But I'm like, STRESSED out with nothing to do!

It is a totally weird situation to be in.
I think, in the future, Stew is going to be in the same situation. Though I think once he retires we will do some travelling, and just be old farts together.

Perhaps I need to take up... fucking gardening!  Pull some weeds. Oh god, I can't think of anything worse to be honest.  I like to see my gardens looking nice, but I don't want to tend them.  Ikkk to dirt on me hands!

It's been raining all day.  And now my house stinks.  I have a horrible feeling Coco has gone 'bathroom' somewhere in the house.  She hates going outside when it's really wet.
Off to look....

Well no shit ... so I probably have to blame Marely for farting under my feet!  lol
Our visitor has arrived, so we are just sitting here gas bagging.
Nice to have another chick to yak with in the evening.
Time to sign off for the day.
Catch ya tomorrow.

  1. Didn't realize the new appliances were coming so quickly! That will be a transformative project! Due to a miscalculation on our cabinets - we ended up with a tiny narrow tall cabinet that is just right for storing baking sheets standing upright. Our kitchen is very small so this little cabinet has been fantastic! Have you considered putting the Blue Bling light in the kitchen or dining area? Hee Hee.

  2. A new oven! I am sure it will make cooking so much easier. Plus new appliances cost less to run. Steve will make the oven space better than anything imagined.

  3. I need a new oven but they are so expensive. My one is only about 5 years old but one element only has in & full and the inside cooks unevenly.

Thank for the walk around your mall, I enjoyed it. The stores look much like ours here in the US. Ky Girl

  5. Nice Mall. It's funny. Malls look the same in New Zealand, USA, Canada, Costa Rica ..... So all over the world I am guessing. My son used to love H&M. But there aren't any in our local area at all. I must admit, I do crave McDonald's once in a blue moon. NOT FOR BREAKFAST though!

When done with the cleaning and crafting, I read. Now that warm weather is here I am setting up my back porch so I can read out there. I've moved my one potted plant out there, a jade. I have two black thumbs. I'm hoping to keep it alive, but 2 sections of it died over winter. I may not have given it enough light. We'll see if it survives through the summer. Ky Girl

I read a bit. Learnt bridge and soon as I’m mobile I’ll get back to it. Plan to start knitting again also thinking of playing manjong. Go out to lunch have friends visit. I seem to be busy, even at the moment recovering from a hip replacement. Anne - Palmy

  10. I know what you are saying about how to fill in the day. I am in the same position and don't have 'hobbies' as such. I do garden but it's more just tidying up and snipping shit to hopefully look better. Thank goodness for our motorhome though because that seems to have become my main interest and am active on a couple of Facebook pages with that. We are away often so researching where to go etc takes some of the time. I watch rubbish TV (well stuff that Stu wouldn't want to watch) for a couple of hours a day. I don't bake because then I'll just eat it. I don't love cooking but do what I have to do. I too don't want to be tied down to any commitments so that we are free to travel. So there you are, I can't help you because I'm in the same situation :)

You could try volunteering at the local pound or op shop maybe? No obligation except maybe one day a week? Or even just a few hours a week? You could volunteer to walk the dogs at the pound! xx Colleen

  13. I never find myself bored ... I buy a couple of low-cost magazines each week (That's Life and Lucky Break) and they have dozens and dozens of different types of puzzles in them - so I challenge myself each week to do as many as I can - and then enter my answers online for a chance to win a prize (have won a couple over the years). I love reading - so that is always on the list (never enough time though). Lately I've become a bit obsessed with a couple of Tiktokers ... one UK couple called Uketok (who play and sing to ukeleles most days - and they are amazing!!) and they also have a gaming/puzzling channel (puzzlingbeats) where they play games online with their audience. They are software developers and have made games for Xbox, Switch, Nintendo etc in the past - very clever and very entertaining.

    This is my list -

I walk the dogs 4 times a day. I look at other people’s gardens as I walk. Lots of neighbors talk to us because of the dogs. This is exercise and socialization. In the beginning it was dog training.

I cook dinner. I run the dishwasher every day.

I do at least one household chore per day to break things up (like vacuum one room, not the whole house). My husband does the things I can no longer do.

I take a short nap every day.

    I watch TV.

I belong to three book groups that meet in person to discuss assigned books. All these meetings are daytime. Two of the groups meet once a month, the other group meets twice a month. So this is four meetings/four books per month. This provides socialization/discussion, it also helps me find new authors. I listen to all books in audio format, so I am moving/busy. Not sitting. I always have a book going. I always have a deadline.

My daughter and I are at the dog obedience club with the dogs, training, twice a week (early evening).

I attend the local quilt guild once a month. A friend is going with me starting this month. This is an evening meeting (6:30-9+pm). I do not do projects/activities with this group. I just enjoy the socialization and seeing what everyone is doing. There is always a speaker and a huge show and tell.

I sew, short time only, often. I would like to say once a day, year round, but it is gardening season right now.

I do exercises every day for strength, mobility, range of motion, flexibility. This helps my whole body, but mostly my neck and back. I have no pain if I do my exercises.

I work in the garden, now/spring, either by myself or helping my husband. We have a high school boy who comes for 2-3 hours on Saturday morning to help with the big stuff, currently.

I declutter, regularly. I have been steadily decluttering since 2018. Each time I go through the house, I find more. In the beginning I focused on the contents of closets, draws, cupboards. That continues. My goal this year is to reduce what is on the floor in each room, so bigger stuff including furniture is going. I list things on Facebook marketplace. I donate to a local shop.

I get my hair cut every 7 weeks. I get my toe nails done every 5 weeks, with a friend. My daughter cuts my finger nails for me every other week. (Arthritis makes this impossible for me to do now).

I keep up with all my doctor’s appointments on a regular schedule. Most I see once a year, a couple I see twice a year.

I stay very current with errands. I take the dogs with me. They can go in many many places. I do drive thru or curbside (pharmacy, grocery, Target) for the places that do not allow dogs. This is also socialization. Lots of people talk to us.

I use to do handwork, we used to play cards, arthritis now prevents those.

I do holiday family photo/greeting cards once a year, my daughter helps.

I stay busy and feel well socialized. But I do everything in small increments. I am careful not to over do. My goal every day is no pain and to be able to sleep well. If I over do, I hurt. If I hurt, I cannot sleep.

I stay as balanced as I can.
