Right.
We are struggling with the wording for my sign.
I want to keep it minimal.
But cover when I'm open, or say ring for an appointment.
So far Stew and I have come up with:
1. OPEN Randomly, or phone for an appointment.
2. If not OPEN, phone for an appointment.
3. No set hours, phone for an appointment if not open.
Any other suggestions? Or alternatively, what one sounds best? 1, 2 or 3?
Until l get the wording on and I'm happy with it, I can't open.
I have most other things ready to go though.
I'm working on an OPEN sign to have on a removable stake, that I can have on the grass verge too.
We have no plans for today, except for my sign getting finished.
Stew did the lawn and gardens yesterday, they look wonderful. All the little flower plants I moved a couple of weekends ago to make way for the Peonies have survived and thrived.
Perhaps we will go out to Wairere Nursery today to find a plant or two for over by the pool fence? Who knows.
Catch ya later.
ONWARD...
We have pretty much made up our minds on the wording now... and I will be able to show you later on today, once paint/varnish is dry.
I can't thank you enough for your suggestions. Number #3 is definitely out of the running, as you say, too wordy.
Stew went out to Mitre 10 again this morning. Just to get a thing to hold the sign post to the driveway.
The heated towel rail in the Shower Room came off the wall, so he also got fixatives to secure it back again.
Now, we are both taking a break.
And just like that we decided to go for a drive.... to Raglan! lol
Catch ya later...
So at around 1 pm I said to Stew "I feel like a club sandwich" ... so we jumped in the car to go get one from a bakery.
Only two minutes down the road I said to Stew "Let's go to Raglan"... so we did!
Not prepared for a drive to the beach, but never mind.
So, once we got to Raglan, we grabbed a pie and sandwich and had a drive around.
ABOVE: Out at the wharf, where there's some eateries and a couple of shops. Tony Sly pottery is there, so we stopped in.
ABOVE: It didn't look too bad... I thought it looked like a scrub fire.
ABOVE: And Yes, it was a scrub fire. It looked well established and growing. I hope it was brought under control fairly quickly.
It's now 4.18 pm and I'm about to spray the first coat of varnish on my sign.
I'm hoping Stew will be able to put it out on the front fence tomorrow night, at the earliest.
ABOVE: My little shop sign.
It HAD to be blue, right? *smiles*
Thanks Lucy G (and everyone else), for your help with the wording, it's perfect.
The left hand side is blank as that's where we will be attaching it to the front fence.
Once it's up, I will put bubbles on the left hand side.
7.50 pm: And that's it. The day is done. Stew cooked Nachos for dinner, it was bloody yum!
I'm READY FOR BED! So, so tired tonight. I tossed and turned all night last night, my own fault this time though. I ate too much dinner, then dessert. What a twat.
I won't be doing that again any time soon, it's not worth a sleepless night.
Catch ya tomorrow.

ABOVE: While I'm not a lover of west coast beaches, it was lovely to be near the sea again.
ABOVE: We did a drive by of a girlfriend's new home... but sadly they were not home.
After a couple of hours there, we headed home again.
Not far out of Raglan we could see smoke in the hills...

Phone for appointment
not 3. That's too wordy and confusing.
ReplyDeleteI like 2.
Or a big tent sign that says Open Now - come on in!
I like the idea of Lacy’s two suggestions. Especially the Appointments welcome. Sounds friendly!!
ReplyDeleteI think you mean Lucy G 😊

How about: By Appointment only - call xxx-xxx-xxxx
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to say what payment you accept also.
ReplyDeleteHow about just adding your phone number on that sign since you're having a separate sign saying open.
ReplyDeleteI like #2 but also like Lucy's first suggestion.
ReplyDeleteWe have a local pottery studio that says 'Open by Appointment or By Chance'. of the 3 choices I like #2 the best.

I also like Lucy's suggestion. Not too wordy and to the point. And you will have your open sign, also.
ReplyDeleteYep am with Lucy G. Far out it pelted down here last night 14 millimeters of the wet stuff hoping that the farmers will be a bit happier now. George's Mum.
ReplyDeleteI like Lucy's second option. Good luck on your new store.
ReplyDeleteLove the sign!
ReplyDeleteSign is just perfectly "Chris"
