I JUST DIDN'T FEEL 'RIGHT'

Ever since I dyed my hair brown, I've not felt 'right' in myself.
In fact, I've hated my hair so much I had been doing nothing with it at all.

No straightening, no curls.  Nothing.

I would look in the mirror and tell myself it was NEAT not having re-growth... but under it all I felt YUCK.

Totally not myself, not happy at all.

So when one of the ladies I do Aqua Fit with told me about a salon here in Cambridge,  offering a $99 Christmas special on colours/foils, I jumped at the chance.

And they could do my hair yesterday afternoon!

So... I got it done.

ABOVE:  It's a work in progress.  It will take about two more appointments to get it back how I like it... so by February I should be really happy with it.

Right now there's some funky shit going on where Lacy put the pink and purple stripes in... part of it has gone green, some is back to pink... weird.  I don't mind that though.  It's funky... right?  *smiles*

OH!  Best thing?  We negotiated a price I'm happy with, and it's much, much cheaper than the other two salons I got quotes from, and it's  way cheaper than going back to Auckland to get it done there. SCORE!

ABOVE:  Too cute not to share... Steve bathing his boys last night.  I wonder who enjoys the bubbles more?

Today my only JOB is to paint that freakin' bathroom unit.  I ain't doing another bloody thing till it's done.

ONWARD...

Some people are just so ... sad and pathetic.  If blonde hair is so ageing, how come MOST older women have blonde/grey hair and look LOVELY?

I believe as long as you are happy with how you look, no one has the right to tell you any different.  Well... as long as you ain't looking like a hag... as I'm sure ANONYMOUS looks.

Only jealous and mean spirited people attack others for no good reason, except to be nasty.

"Mirror, mirror on the wall...."

LYNDA:  Yes, I got about 8 inches cut off the length about a month ago.  It desperately needed it, and it was simply TOO long!

My painting is going... so-so.  The undercoat kept clogging up and stopping the sprayer from working, but I persevered and it's getting better.

Waiting for the undercoat to dry now before putting the first coat of top coat on.

ABOVE: Brylee wears these slippers, inside and sometimes outside in the yard, ALL THE TIME.
Now I don't mind that she's wearing stinking hot slippers in summer, her feet an' all... but OMG... she drags and slides them along the floor when she walks.

The noise has finally done my head in... and I'm about to take them off her and throw them on the roof where she can't get them back!  Or maybe I better just hide them?

Can't have the silly little tart trying to get on the roof I suppose.  *sigh*

I wonder if the neighbours will hear her screams when I yank them off her feet?  ha ha ha!

12.31 pm: The damn paint is taking FOREVER to dry!  And it's only the undercoat!  Oh well... I have managed to get heaps of other things done while waiting.

Tidied my sewing room so I could actually get in the door!  Sorted out Christmas presents, found the gaps and wrote a list.  Just a few odds 'n' ends to get now.

Brylee didn't scream when I removed her slippers!  Totally didn't expect compliance, nope, not at all.

FFS ANON:  Give it up!  Me an 'old lady'?... like hell!  I'm a middle aged Crabby Tart.  And as for having age appropriate hair length, who the fuck said 'old ladies' couldn't have long hair?

I will NEVER have short hair, and god help anyone who tries to cut it when I am actually OLD!  Family.... be aware.

AND... I don't think I look OLD at all!  Pffffft.

Over this shit now!  Moving on... I've finally managed to get the 1st top coat on the bathroom unit.  It's looking good.
I will be very happy when it gets back in the bathroom, I've got towels and stuff all over the freakin' floor.

Yaaa, I got the last coat on the bathroom unit tonight.  So, it's got all night to dry and set.

Dinner tonight was bacon and spring onion rice risotto... it was delicious.  Stew is having left overs for lunch tomorrow.

Time to sign off for the day.  THANK YOU SO MUCH for your lovely comments about my latest hair colouring.

The blonde long hair is so incredibly aging on you.And you need to go to a Mac makeup counter to get them to show you how to update your makeup as it's also very aging. Why do you pile on the eye make up? It doesn't do you any favours,it just makes you look like that character on the Drew Carey show Mimmi.

    1. Why be so mean about my mum and how she looks. I love the way my mum looks. And we all love the blonde look. And if you actually see how little makeup mY mum wears you would know she don't wear bugger all. So plz keep your so called hair and makeup opions to yourself...

  6. Glad you found a good hairdresser with reasonable rates! A few years ago I had a hairdresser convince me to go back to my natural colour, and every time a strand of hair came into my view it startled me, so I quickly went back to blond highlights :) The most important thing is that you like your look, never mind silly trolls! I like the funky look with different colours on you! Honestly, if I could look like you when I've brought up my boys, I would be over the moon! Xoxo

  7. I don't normally waste my time trying to converse with unpleasant people but I am going to make an exception for 'anonymous'. I'm REALLY curious why you would find it necessary to write critical comments about a persons appearance. My mother taught me as a child, if you don't have anything nice to say, then dont say anything at all'. I can see you weren't taught this same value, which is a real pity as your comments are not only un-necessary and unpleasant, but they say A LOT about you as a person. I truely believe people who critisize others and bring others down, are deeply miserable within themselves, as a contented person has no need or desire to behave negetively towards others. I would really love for you to reveal who you are, because its easy as pie to hind behind a computer screen and be nasty, but would you be that brazen if we could all see who was being so critical. ????

I LOVE your hair! It's absolutely gorgeous and I just showed a pic to my daughter (a stylist) so she can give me the same. Love your Christmas tree as well. Nice to see your vision for your home coming together. Cheers! ~Nicole in CA

  11. I LOVE that picture of you! Your hair, face, and EVERYTHING look great. It's also a really cute, stylish photo of Brylee - slippers and all!

  12. I like the lighter colour, it suits you and does not age you because it is a softer colouring not like you are going hard out platinum beach blond. Regardless of such, if you like it who gives a flying monkey's f%@k what anyone else thinks. You need to be able to look in the mirror and like what you see and your darker colour obviously was not doing that for you so time to change.

How about "anonymous" gives us a picture of the perfection she is so we can all bask in the sunshine emanating from her arse!!!!

As for Brylee's slippers, wouldn't it be sad if a jar of something sticky & difficult to remove was to fall on them :-) - or we could just ask "Anonymous" for her wisdom on the subject haha

  16. I am shocked at the amount of shitty comments! I love your hair and even if i didn't you love it and that all the matters. I HATE keyboard warriors and bullies. Way too much hate in this world. What surprises me more is that people take the time to stop by read your blog and then be rude. Life is so short people find a hobby other than being an arse!

  17. I'd kill for your hair, pink and green stripes and all! As for the 'Anonymous's' - trying to blow out someone else's candle certainly doesn't make yours shine any brighter. I feel sorry for you.

  18. Oh dear, oh dear. Whether your hair suits you, or your makeup suits you is ENTIRELY your business. Maybe just delete all of these nasty comments? Why even give them attention. I get so angry at people who just want to upset others for no purpose. As Lynise said - if you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all.

funny how the unkind comments are all anonymous. If you are going to sledge, man up & own them with your true identity. I agree with Lynise - if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it at all. Actually, why do you even bother to read Chris's blog? + What Bee said!!!! Glad you found a great new hair dresser Chris. LOL @ Brylee & her slippers!

  21. As one who has never ever had hair beyond my shoulders I'd pay a ransom for your hair!! Do you know what it's like to sometimes wash your hair twice a Day ( if you're going out at night) it's so fine. You should be proud of that head of hair and is be keeping it too!!

  22. Well, to anonymous cowards who write mean hateful things to Chris and I am sure others as well, because you have an unhappy soul.

My daughter is a personal stylist to celebs here in Melbourne, she is also a personal stylist and makeup artist.

Chris, this is what she said, I ask her old do you think you are, she guessed 36, she also said you are a very attractive woman, your hair and makeup are approriate and looks very nice, she just thought you were a bit tanned, but that's because she has a very pale complexion. I think it is the nicest photo of you for the longest time, you are looking more relaxed and it is about time.

  24. First things first Steve and the boys hilariously cute as always, Brylee you are really growing into a lovely looking young woman. To the nasty stuff I have had the pleasure of meeting Crabby Tart Chris in person her eyes sparkle her skin so soft if you're lucky enough to get a hug and kiss as I have, HER HAIR is full of life and volume, AND I DARE say her husband loved it way back when he courted her even with a swag of kids, AND STILL loves it now, AND THAT is the only person who matters (aside from yourself Chris) Who says as we get older we must conform to a set way of doing things YOU MY DEAR do whatever the hell you want.....

  25. You are so lucky to have hair that you can grow to that length. Fine hair and a double crown have meant I have had to keep mine short for all of my 67 years. I think yours looks great and I love it coloured. Looking forward to seeing it for myself soon. Helen in France (just till tomorrow).

  30. I know I'm a bit late to this but I think your hair looks great! It has always been said that women should go lighter as they get older as it's more flattering (that's why most older women go blonde or a version of it!) My mum (who is 70!) has bright, orangutan orange hair and loves it (always wanted to be a redhead lol!) and it's amazing how many (obviously sight impaired lol!) people ask if it's natural! Go with whatever colour you're comfortable with and stuff the haters :)
