MEH... MORE ROCKS

This morning I am going to (again)... do a minimum of three loads of rocks from the back yard to the old pond area.

I am sure I can almost see the end in sight of those rocks!

Of course, there will be quite a bit left to do to get it all tidied up and ready for grass around the back ... but it's getting there slowly but surely.

After talking with Stew and Steve last night about the driveway issue, we are now waiting for a second expert opinion on what will be the best fix for our driveway, and approximate costs to fix it.

Then we will compose an email to 'K', and outline what way we wish to proceed.

Of course, it will in no way involve Pave Coat, or absolve him of any extra costs we will incur to fix his damn stuff up.

So, no more updates on the driveway for now... which I'm sure you will be happy to hear.  I for one am sick to death of it!

ABOVE:  I was scrolling through my phone last night, looking for something, and came across this photo.

Dante 'brushing' Coco's hair with a pair of tongs!

Taken at least 8 years ago in our Auckland home.

I thought it was adorable, and well worth a 2nd airing.

ABOVE: Then we have this, the resident man taking a very late night dip before bed.

The big question is:   togs, or naked?  😂😆

And that's me for now.... catch ya later.

11 am:  Just got home from a trip to The Base.  I wanted to find some of the masks that are more rigid and don't cling to your face so much.
NONE anywhere.
So frustrating, as I am really struggling wearing one if I'm out and about too long.

I did a lap around my block... 2.4 kms.
Crazy time to do it, never doing it again in summer.
There's heaps of rain clouds around.  Wish they would friggin well dump some rain instead of just making it even muggier.

I've not done any rocks yet...it's just too hot and humid.

If it rains, I'll be out there in the blink of an eye for sure.

Got home and noticed both the goldfish were dead.  Typical.
Down the toilet they went.

Just how hard is it to keep friggin goldfish alive?
Never having goldfish again.  They crush ya soul.

ABOVE:  Look so promising.  It FEELS like it might rain!

We have been in this home for three summers now (26 months), and in all that time we have never seen one of our neighbours take their boat out.  Not once.
Today as I drove by, he was hitching it up to his ute!

I was like WOW, he's going to use his boat!!!
But no.  He hitched it up.  Then unhitched it and put his ute back on the driveway.

I swear to god that boat is a garden ornament!
A $100,000 garden ornament.

I FOUND IT!  The best place to be in my house right now:

ABOVE:  Lying on the couch in me sewing room!
All doors and windows closed, air con ON.
OMG bliss, and such a relief.
I don't have to live in the pool.
AND I can sew, listen to music, lie on the couch.... gosh it's perfect.
Why the hell didn't I think of this sooner?
Stupid brain cells are fried, that's why.

4.20 pm:  Bex and the boys called in after school for a swim.
I joined them.
OMG such a relief... the pool temp was perfect.

ABOVE:  The boys decided to 'be like Granddad'... and swim naked.  Little buggers!
What is it with boys and running around naked?
Luckily, naked boys does not phase me in the least.  And for sure, they outgrow it pretty quickly one puberty approaches.  😂😅😉

9.53 pm:  Well it's the end of an exhaustingly hot day.  NO bloody rain.  Just endless humidity.
We are living in a sauna.
Dinner was roast lamb chops and veges.
What was I thinking?  I had the oven on for 2 hours, it just made the house hotter.
But dinner was really yum.  😋

Time to bugger off and finish watching Coronation Street before bed.

  1. I actually like to follow the driveway saga. It is an interesting "legal" situation. I would love to see what one of those silly daytime Judge shows would have to say about this. Do you have those in NZ?
Anyhow - whatever happens, I hope it ends up beautiful and effortless. You should not have to be stressing about this project rather than enjoying it!

  4. I too appreciate being kept up to date as the blacktop saga unfolds.

If it all has to be ripped up, is there anything you wish was different about the whole configuration, that can be adjusted at the same time? I do not have anything in mind, but that would be the time to do it.

Yep, looks naked, but I am guessing togs.

  8. One of my neighbours quoted recently "The two happiest days in a Wellington boatie's life: the day he buys his boat, and the day he sells it".
Might be the case for Hamiltonian boaties too!

  9. "A boat is a hole in the water in to which you throw money". lol
I hope your drive way gets sorted soon, after having problems with builders ourselves last summer I completely sympathise. Its gives me acid reflux thinking about it. I honestly think that the pandemic has turned peoples brains to mush and companies just cant be bothered to do a good job. I live in a high retirement area, I can only imagine the amount of seniors who are paying over the odds to have things fixed and built at present and not to a high standard. No joke we had an electrician who wouldnt finish a job as he didnt want to tack the wires to the joists in the loft/attic, I think he thought it was beneath him. So we had to do it and then he would come back sign it off for the council. Honest I have never heard of such rubbish in all my life. If he had gone to a seniors house, how would they have done that? The mind boggles.
I hope you get the out come that gives you the drive way you want.

  12. Sorry about the gold fish - ours is 21! I have my eye on the area in the kitchen where his tank is for a coffee making station - how naughty is that? But it would be perfect.

  14. My daughter inherited a goldfish from her sister-in-law. He kept trying to jump out of the tank. Luckily it had a lid. They need to have a filter at the very least, their water changed by at least 1/3 or 1/2 every couple of weeks, and this bloke needed an air stone, too. He's only tried to jump out once since we got the stone. Thankfully!

    1. Weird, that comment only just showed up now (Friday night). Our goldfish bowl was quite clean! And it had an air stone. It was probably due to have some water changed over in a day or two. I wonder if it was the big worm I gave them to eat? Either way, I'm DONE with bloody goldfish. They do my head in.
