REST DAY

So, today we are not doing any garden work.

But I know I won't be able to stop myself, and will probably end up moving a few things around in the new rockery.

Stew can watch for a change.  😆😊

I've got a big load of washing to get on, so that is first on me 'to do' list.

ABOVE: This is how the rockery is looking right now.  Let's see if I can get it looking a bit better by the end of the day eh?

10.30 am:  Definitely not the end of the day!

But the rockery is 99% done.  We just need to buy a couple of padlocks to chain things together.

Probably go out and get them sometime today.

We have Amanda and kids for dinner this evening, so I better get something out of the freezer to feed them with.

ABOVE:  The country wide storm hasn't really hit Hamilton yet.  Some gusty wind and light showers so far today, but that's all.  Looks to be hitting Northland and the Wellington region the most.

I know I shouldn't wish for stormy weather, but I just love storms!

11.38 am... and just like that we have gusty strong wind and heavy drizzle coming down sideways! LOVELY. So tempted to go for a walk.

Woo hoo... I'm sitting in the car waiting for Stew, who's in the supermarket... and the car is ROCKING in the wind. Super blustery now!

A young guy just parked SO CLOSE to our car there was no way Stew would be able to get in his side so I jumped out and stood between our car and his drivers door.... illustrating just how close he was!  LOL... he moved his car.

Lucky I stayed in our car!

5.45 pm:  Once we got home from the supermarket we had visitors arrive.

So we have been busy entertaining, being polite,  conversing etc etc!  lol

ABOVE:  So we have Jacqui and Sofia here, and Amanda, Emily and Liam too.

They are all here for dinner.

ABOVE: The storm has passed as quickly as it arrived!

Tomorrow we will be living in a sauna again.

So thankful for the lower temperatures today.

We personally sustained no damage from the storm, some places had trees down and flooding etc.  But nothing major anywhere, and no people injured.

COVID numbers had escalated today!  810 new cases today.  Imagine how high the numbers would be if everyone who felt ill/sick got tested?

Bet it would be double that.

8.23 pm:  Dinner was lovely, having the kids here was nice.  Lovely to spend time with Jacqui and Sofia too.

Now all is quiet here, all visitors have left.

Time to chill out and relax.

  3. Just drove back to Auckland from the Coromandel. Very windy & wet in parts. Lots of debris on the road. Then the bloody harbour bridge was shut 😁

I love your rockery. Succulents grow really well in a rockery. We've had the strong winds. A lot of trees fallen on roads.
