VIRGIN LAWN GETS MOWED

After saying we should wait another week to mow the new lawn, late yesterday we decided it did need to be mown.

So...

ABOVE:  It went well.  We don't seem to have damaged it, or left huge gouges in the dirt.
Thank goodness... that lawn has been pampered to within an inch of it's life!

ABOVE:  This is probably the last of the 'Lawn Series' of photos for a long time!  I doubt you want to see it every week till the end of the year! lol

I was surprised to find it was quite firm under foot too... no sinkage as such.  We must have done something right.

So... 5 and a half minutes to mow the back lawn and about 4 minutes for the grass verge out the front.  Sure beats the 4-5 HOURS it took him to mow the lawns in Cambridge.

Moving was the best decision I made last year, hands down.

ABOVE:  I caught last night's sunset moments before it was gone.  Quite cool!  We've had some amazing sunsets, but I've missed taking a photo till now.

So today's plan is... sewing.
I don't know what Stew has planned, if anything.  Actually.... I have a job for him.  He can put up a post in the garden and fix the Pig Weather Vane to it.

Just have to decide WHERE to put it... hmmmm.

Back later...

ONWARD...

Woke up to a FOG!  And quite a thick one at that.  So it was much cooler this morning, bliss.

There's a couple of things we need from the supermarket, and algae clearer from Para Rubber, so we shall be popping out shortly.
The fog has cleared and it's going to be another scorching hot day.

So we didn't need Algae clearer apparently... we needed 'clarifier'... so got some of that.

We also went over to Cambridge and picked up a big plastic drum to collect rainwater in, for the pond.  My Card Night friend Suz gave it to us.  Now Stew has to connect it up to a downpipe.

I'm about to jump in the pool as I'm about to literally melt.... It's just too hot for me.
Stew and Brylee have gone out again to get the downpipe fittings for the drum.

So I had a swim on me own, Stew and Brylee were out for ages.
I feel like nothing much got done today.  Certainly didn't get the Weather Vane up. *sigh*

Lacy popped in for food.  Then left again.  I told her to come back tomorrow and help me tidy up the spare bedroom.

She's gotta earn the food!  lol

It's 9 pm and still 30 degrees C inside!  I just want winter to arrive now... I'm over being this damn hot all the time.

  1. Haha.... it's so relaxing watching someone else mow a lawn! Nice to see Stew wears boots too - you see idiots wearing jandals sometimes! One the lawn gets more established it will look fantastic. I agree about the move to the new place, it's just so much better for your lifestyle.

  2. We didn't have a huge yard at our old place but it was on a slope and difficult to mow and weed. When we were looking for a place to buy here in Newie we wanted a flat flat block, even lawns and not much of it! We paid more for it, but I am so happy this is what we got! Your yard looks great!

  3. Lawn looks great. He was smart to catch the clippings since it was new grass.

You have so Much privacy, even with houses so close.

    Glad things are going well.

    1. The fish are all doing very well now that I've stopped putting town water in their pond! No dead ones in about 3 weeks now.

  6. I am not sure what kind of roof you have, but be careful that nothing chemical comes off the roof and will go in the wAter. For example, at the end of our down spouts, I can see a grainy substance that comes off the shingles. I think it would kill fish.

  7. I agree with you about this heat. It is meant to be the first day of autumn today so am hoping that means we will soon see some cooler temperatures. Only meant to get down to 17 tonight though, so guessing it won't be much of a sleep night.
