GOODBYE CAKE

Well... all going well we will be getting the last of the cake consumed today.
While it's an amazing cake, the last thing we want is for it to be hanging around under our noses!

Both Stew and I felt a bit sick after eating it to be truthful.  We are both diabetics, so it's no wonder really!  Sugar isn't good for us at all, and we are certainly noticing how awful it makes us feel.
I swear, I had a hot flush every half an hour all yesterday afternoon/evening after eating that cake!

I wonder how that ties in with menopause?  Weird.

So, I think Martyn and Jacqui are coming over from Tauranga to help eat the thing!  Awesome.  Not just cos they will eat cake, but cos we really love seeing them.

I'm stiff and sore today from walking 5 days in a row.  So today is going to be a DO NOTHING day.  Sit on me bum and rest day.
We should be doing the grocery shopping, but that can wait till Tuesday afternoon, after patchwork.

FACT:  I walked 168.83 kms in the month of August!  Pretty amazing to me.  That's probably 100 kms MORE than I used to do before joining the Fat Bottomed Girls group.  Rather proud of myself.

My niece Christina (named after me, my Mum and Great Grandmother) had professional photos taken at my Mum's 80th Birthday.  We got copies of them recently.  This is my most favourite one:

ABOVE:  Goodness knows what we were laughing about!  But it's a lovely photo of the two of us.  SPECIAL.
I've probably lost about 10 kgs and many inches since it was taken too.

And that is all for now!

ONWARD...

***edit:  my niece in Australia just told me why my Mum and I were laughing.  Apparently I said "Look, we are getting married"!
Rather funny I suppose.

It's been a bloody cold morning here, one minute sunshine, the next HAIL and rain!

Our visitors are due soon with lunch... great we are hungry!  And there's that cake for afters.

Our visitors duly arrived bearing food... chicken, ham, salami, buns and salads!
We had a really lovey lunch, followed by lots of yakking and having some fun watching the little girls dance and do 'gynmastics'... then some of the adults had a go at holding poses:

ABOVE:  Stew won hands down!  He could hold that crunch/core pose for ages.  Martyn tried doing the upside down thing, and couldn't get his head off the ground.

ABOVE:  They loved the new lounge chairs!  I reckon Martyn wants them now too. Sadly for him, Jacqui said 'NO'.  *smiles*

ABOVE:  A gorgeous photo of little Sofia.
Sadly, I didn't get one of Joel... that young man is growing so rapidly, I swear every time I see him he's grown another inch!

It is now nearly dinner time and we will be having left overs.  We have heaps left from lunchtime.  Score!

I have been keeping track on the 'net of Hurricane Irma, so scary watching it advance on Florida... though it has weakened a bit.
So much going on in the world now!  Natural disasters and potential man made ones too.

Trump and North Korea... bit of a worry that lot!

I forgot to say... all the cake is gone.  Yaaaa.  No temptation for me tomorrow.

It's been a perfectly lazy day, just what we needed.

  1. That is a great photo.

Best way to help with the stiffness is to do some stretches, yoga or Pilates. You can find workouts online if you don't want to go to a class.
