CHRISTMAS EVE DAY

What do you have planned for today?

Crazy busy doing last minute preparations for tomorrow?

I will be making our Ambrosia for tomorrow.  It's super easy and fast, so I'm not too bothered about hurrying to get it done.

Everything else is done... so I should have a lazy day!

I've been working on the FIRST section of the tree's YARN BOMBING:

ABOVE:  It's coming alone nicely.  There is going to be 'additions' on top of this section.  I hope to make them today too.

I will be opening my shop at midday.  I will be very surprised if anyone calls in though.  But, as I'm not doing anything much, I might as well open it.

And that's all I have for now. How about you tell me how your preparations are going?  Are ya all sorted, or pulling ya hair out?

Catch ya later.

ONWARD...

12.24 pm:   So far today...

Steve n Bex have called in to put chickens in my fridge.  They are cooking them here tomorrow morning.

Lacy has called in, and then took off to Auckland to pick up Griffin.

I've almost finished the first section for the tree.

And I've had customers in the shop and made a good sale.

So... a good morning.

Griffin is going to be here for a couple of days.

Then after he leaves, we have our cousin Danielle here for 3 days. AFTER she leaves we have Lacy and Keera here for 3 days.

So... I might as well install a rotating door!

ABOVE:  I just have the buttons to go.

ABOVE:  Had to share it!

Right, back to those buttons.

ABOVE: Stew came home at midday.  Just in time to try on 'our' kitchen apron.

Then he put a hook inside the pantry door for it to hang on.  I put loops on the shoulders to hang it with.

Lacy and Griffin are back from Auckland, she had a smooth trip up and back thankfully.  Traffic wasn't too heavy.

ABOVE:  Weird and wonderful fungus growing in this pot, right outside my Sewing Room door.

It's quiet pretty... if ya like YELLOW.  lol

Stew, Brylee and Griffin have gone out to Mitre 10 for light bulbs for something.  Dunno what.  But it's just an excuse to go out really.  It's cloudy, windy and on/off wet today.   No swimming today.

I'm stuck in me shop.  It's damn quiet like I thought it would be.  Still time for some more peeps to call in, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm doing a Chicken Teriyaki Rice dish for dinner.

It's raining again.

I really shouldn't bitch about it... because it's not hot and sticky today.  That's fantastic.

OMG it's been diabolical, 94 % humidity here in the Waikato.

9.37 pm:  We ended up having chicken teriyaki and noodles.  Much nicer than rice.

Then I watched some You Tube videos as the TV was not working due to 'Atmospheric Conditions'... such a pain in the butt.

Time to go to bed and hopefully get a decent night's sleep.

Pulling hair out here and we still have one more day until Christmas Eve. I'm going to blame it on kids doing online school and one of them having been in the hospital because of an allergic reaction to an antibiotic and not because I've been putting things off. I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year.

  7. I am making cookies. Chocolate Chip cookies. And Buckeyes. Buskeyes were a cookie I gre up with in Ohio. They look like a Buckeye Nut and are basically peanut butter alls dipped in Chocolate. By some miracle we have convinced our son and his girlfriend to come over tomorrow. They are even more sheltered than us with the Covid crisis. And my husband and I have not seen anyone in almost a year without a mask and such. The ONLY thing I do is shop and I won't even go down an aisle if there is another human in it. But, now I need to vacuum and mop and I think I will even wipe down the cabinets! First visitors in eight months! Might as well do it up! For Christmas Dinner, I am making Christmas Salmon. I found the recipe online and it looks beautiful and festive.

However, we are currently in a Blizzard - and tomorrow the wind is going to be 40 miles per hour. And the wind chill will be negative 20-30 degrees. So we may not have Christmas after all. Blowing snow at that temp makes tomorrow quite the dangerous day to go out the door!

  12. Thanks to Melbourne lockdown, which of course is now over, I thought ahead and got the Christmas shopping done online early. We got the last bits on Monday. I even had groceries delivered this morning so Ramona and I can bake today! One trip to the shop (without Ramona because I have to buy Santa some different wrapping paper), some baking and present wrapping and hopefully I am done and can relax tonight.

Tomorrow, relaxed lunch with my sister and brother in law, then on Boxing Day or the day after we are going to my sister's house, in a smaller seaside town out of Geelong, for a few days to catch up and have a change of scene. It is a bit mad out there with tourists at this time of the year, but quieter than the big city!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone!

    Love Penny xx

Rocking the apron Stewart 😁 We are back in lockdown from Boxing Day, so having a short Christmas visit to the in-laws for the 1 day we're allowed. Was able to wish the Nelson gal a Merry Christmas from our car as she finished work at 1am. Wishing you and all your family a peaceful, lovely Christmas and best wishes for a better year in 2021.
