NO SLEEP

Well... there has been virtually no sleep tonight.

The hospital is very quiet, but nurses come in all the time to check on mum and turn her.

So yeah... no sleep. But thats ok. I expected it.

There is no change in Mum's condition really, which is quite amazing.

She's such a fighter!

Once Ron arrives later on this morning I will pop out to sketch my legs... and that's it for today so far.

ONWARD...

I was rather cold overnight so once Ron arrived I walked into town.

First clothing shop I went into I saw a nice, very plain black cardigan, made in New Zealand. It fitted so I thought "Yeah that will do"... and I checked the price.

$675!!!!   I almost snorted out me nose... hung it up and 'casually ' left that shop.

Then I found a merino poncho in a local 'Collective shop and got it.

ABOVE: I CAN SEE ME WEARING IT OFTEN, both here and at home.

The hospital is up a REALLY STEEP HILL. On my way back I realised, due to the heat; I might not make it up ... so I stood on the road and waited.

Pretty soon a car came along... and I stuck my thumb out.. and they kindly stopped and drove me to the hospital front door!

I thanked them profusely... so thankful I was saved from heatstroke and exhaustion.

  1. Good Morning to you! Perhaps a little nap will be in store for you today. I am happy that the nurses are so attentive - but I know that is disruptive to YOUR sleep. Oh well. Get some rest. No good for anyone if you burn yourself out.

  2. I'm so glad you are there for her and for yourself. To spend this time saying goodbye is very special but of course very hard at the same time. I really don't have the words to say to you right now but know we are all thinking of you.

I hope the knowledge you are with your mum and doing everything you can to make sure she knows she is surrounded with love and care is able to bring you some comfort. It’s such a difficult time and words are so incapable of expressing all that we feel... but thinking of you and I hope you take care of yourself as much as you can.

  12. Love the poncho. I've done the same as you in shops over there, nearly choke then try and casually leave lol. I know how the heat can drain you over there. So pleased you got a ride up the hill. Take care, thinking of you xx

  13. Love the poncho and very resourceful hitchhiking up the hill:-).

Hopefully yourMum is a bit more lucid today, this must be so hearbreaking for you & Ron and the rest of the family but at least you can be comforted by the fact she is surrounded by love and kindness and you got to spend some quality time (although it will never be enough I am sure) with her. Please make sure you & Ron look after yourselves as well and get some rest too.

  14. Chris I am so sorry you have to go through this, but I am glad that you have been able to spend some time with your mum, and be there for both her and Ron. This is not an easy road to travel, I did it last year. Love and hugs to you and yours.

  40. This time for you is identical to what we went through with my mom. You have this time with her so say all the things that are in your heart, she will hear you. Sending you, Ron and all the family all my love at this very difficult time.
