HOW MUCH LONGER?

YAAAA..... we have help today.

Steve and Bex are coming down again.

That means we WILL get the pool area completely finished... and I won't have to haul stones!

Stew and I will pop out first thing and get another load of stones, but we won't actually start unloading them till Steve arrives.

In fact, I won't be working in the yard today at all.  I have to get that cot Quilt finished asap, and posted off.  So, I will keep an eye on the guys progress, while sewing.

I feel like we are on the home straight when it comes to our new home's outdoor 'renovations'.
The fencing is done, the pool is done, the pool surround is almost done.
Just the sloping lawn and back garden left to go!

We have probably a day or two of smaller jobs to do ... but none of them are urgent.  Just things like hanging up stuff, adding a shelf in our wardrobe, fixing a few door latches and so on.

In a way it's been neat having so much to do!  All the changes have made this new house our own.  It sure doesn't look much like it used to outside now!

I'm really proud of it, and how much Stew, Steve, Bex, Lacy and I have done.

Right, I better stop blithering on and get into the Studio.  That cot quilt is going to get finished today ... all going well.

ONWARD...

11 am and the kids are here.  And Steve got straight into helping with the next load of stones... and him and Stew finished the pool area off:

ABOVE:  It's done!

Now they are moving on to finishing off the little gaps in the pavers and the back garden and lawn area!

OMG I could be laying grass seed down next weekend!

How amazing is that.

I have cancelled my market tomorrow, I've got a cold and don't feel 100%.   And well... the kids are here!

12:07 pm: Lunch break.
Bex cooked sausage rolls.  I warned her it was a hot oven:

ABOVE: She thought I was joking!   So yeah, some 'trimming' was involved before we ate them.
Luckily she only burnt the bottom tray full.

ABOVE:  Steve testing his bar leaner table.  Smoko time.

Well the quilt will be posted off tomorrow morning, I've just got the binding to stitch on tonight.

We have all knocked off for the day, and had a swim to cool down.  It's actually a much cooler day today, which made it easier for everyone working outside.

Can you believe we are actually on the 'home straight'!  The guys did quite a bit of the prep work for the new lawn today!

I will show you tomorrow how it's coming along.

BEX did a lot of moving stones around today too... she put all the left over stones around the pond, and in the big pots.  She told me to mention what she'd done... cos she was feeling left out.  Ha ha ha.

9.40 pm:  And the day is done.

We all ended up in the pool this afternoon, it was wonderful.
Then I hand stitched the binding on the cot quilt, so that's ready for posting off tomorrow.

Dinner was Shepherds Pie.  I made the mince mixture for it last night, so not much to do tonight.

Lazy evening... I watered plants like I do most evenings now.  I think everything would die if I didn't.
We actually got a heavy shower this morning, but it was fleeting, certainly not enough to do any good.

Right, time to bugger off.  I'm thinking of having a very early night... I've got a shitty headache, had it for most of the day really.

  2. Well done on all the work achieved this morning ... your outdoor area is looking amazing! I hope you're feeling better soon Chris. I think its great that you guys are living that little bit closer to Steve, Bex and the kids and getting to enjoy their frequent visits. Your weekends together look not only productive, but such fun too.

  5. The table is lovely. Good Job, Steve! I thin you need a little drone to fly over your property and video all of the work you have done!

Your pool looks fabulous! We are hoping next summer to have something similar. At a rough estimate would $10k be enough?

    1. As long as you don't factor in any landscaping or decking and you do all the work yourself building the pool, $10 thousand might be enough.
