TE AWAMUTU TODAY

I'm really enjoying getting to take little road trips to places in our new region.

Because I was told of the Bernina shop in Te Awamutu in class yesterday, I just had to go there!

We actually lived in Te Awamutu 30 years ago.  Steve was born there, and when he was about 6 weeks old we got married there too.

I loved the place, I would go walking every morning at about 7 am and it was just a lovely little town.  So, going back today will be fun.

There's the Bernina shop, and I'm told there is another fabric shop there too.  I hope I can find it.

ABOVE:  The last time I was in Te Awamutu was back in 2013, when Stew and I went there to get a fire screen for our Auckland house.  That's me standing in front of the church we got married in.

So, that's my plan for today.  Lacy will probably come with me too.

ONWARD...

Te Awamutu hasn't changed much at all!  Still the small rural town it was 30 years ago.  I found the Bernina shop very easily... and had a good browse around.

I think I'm getting to the point where I don't often see any fabrics that I haven't seen before, or sometimes I find just one or two in a shop that I want to buy.

It's a bit sad.

I did get some fabric from Te Awamutu:

ABOVE:  One larger piece, and 5 fat quarters.

After visiting another shop in Te A, we headed back to Hamilton.
On the way, I stopped to get a photo of these cute cows:

ABOVE:  Yeah, not real ones, but still cute.

In Hamilton, I visited the Bernina shop by the Hospital.  It was very small, and was a jumbled mess.  In order to see some of the fabrics they had, I had to move rolls of fabric out of the way.

They had a very small selection of fabrics, and again, nothing I'd not seen before.  No need to go there again.

As we were leaving Hamilton for home I got a text from Russell.  He wanted to know if I was home?  I stopped and text him back, saying we would be home in 12 minutes.

EXACTLY 12 minutes later we rolled up in our driveway to see him waiting with his lunch box.  *smiles*

ABOVE:  He stayed for his lunch and a cuppa tea, had a cuddle with the dogs, and to my amazement, Tallulah didn't even growl at him!

She let him pat her and rub her tummy!  What a tartlet.  I just never know who she's going to snap at, or not.  *sigh*

So after Russ had consumed his lunch, he went on his way back to work in Hamilton.

Lacy took herself off for a walk while Russ was here.  I don't know where she went or when she will be back.

After having a few lovely spring type days, it's starting to rain and get cold.  It's a cold front coming up from Antarctica.  Nice.  Just when one of our plum trees is coming into blossom too.  Drat.

Stormy weather is hitting overnight... hopefully no one gets hurt in the late winter blast.
Hopefully it has past by the morning.
