The phrase : 'No good deed goes unpunished' is a sardonic commentary on the frequency with which kindnesses backfire on those who offer it. In other words, because life is inherently unfair, those who help others are doomed to suffer as a result of their being helpful.

But we are prepared for a battle.  We will do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING in our power to make sure our kids are safe, protected and happy.

End of story.

TODAY:  I plan on taking the kids out so they can spend their pocket money.  Maybe lunch out.

We might need to get some legal advice, so getting in touch with a Family Law Lawyer is also high on my list of "to do's" today.

Here's some photos of yesterday's effort by Stew and Steve:

ABOVE:  before, no roof.

ABOVE:  Father and son... two hands make for a roof in no time!

ABOVE: taaa daa!  Done.

ABOVE:  testing it for leaks.  It held up well.

I had to sleep on the couch last night.  Well... not much sleeping was had.   A lot of coughing and dry reaching actually.   NOT FUN.
Feel like death warmed up now.

Kids are sleeping in... which is nice.

First and most important thing is done.  Waiting to hear back from a Family Law Firm in Papakura.

I had to tell the kids that we were not going out today afterall.  I feel way too ikkk to go anywhere.  They took it well.  Stew is going to be home Wed, Thurs and Friday, so we shall do a few 'special holiday things' then with them.

Spent the afternoon lying down on the couch.. If I get in just the right position I don't cough as much... which is great.   When I do cough now I'm getting nasty pains in my chest and back.  Stew suggested I go to the Dr, but in reality there is nothing he can do but prescribe cough mixture... and I've got lots of that already!

Just have to tough it out.  JOY.

Kids have been wonderful!  Very caring and considerate.  They ask me after every coughing fit if I'm alright!  Awwww.

End of Day:  I've run out of cough syrup!  Drat.  Might just have to go find an after hours chemist.... we need a new thermometer too... I'm sure I'm running a temp.  Can't use the one we have anymore... I used it on Coco!  Eeeew.

    Take care !

  10. Looks great..I posted today btw..:-)

  11. Yes, with the others of course. The beginning of your post was very cryptic but I understand you don't want to or can't share all the details online. All I can say is good luck and I hope you get better soon. Love to you and the family, Penny xo

  12. Chris I will send you a private message. Good you are seeing a family lawyer (I work for one). Stay strong, I am gathering what has happened. It may be a tough road but I have no doubt you can win. I will send you both an email when I get home. Make sure the family law firm is reputable and specialises in family law. Martine x

  13. Well done on the roof......the guys did well :)
I feel your pain re the cold....I've got it too now.. sick of the coughing already and it's only day 2 of the cough.......could be a long week for us both.
Big hugs on the family issues xoxoxoxo

  14. Cryptic beginning to your post and I don't know what's going on, but very best of luck whatever it is. And I hope your cold clears up soon, it sounds like a really bad one. Best wishes XXX

  15. Your new roof looks great. Hope all goes well in our life with your family.

  16. O Chris- I LOVE the new roof! Aren't having guys in the family just so helpful at times???? LOL I guess we trade that for the dirty laundry and meals. LOL

Hope you feel better soon. I take extra vit. c -it does not get rid of the cold - just shortens the duration. Pineapple juice and honey - all that coughing and hacking can leave your throat scratchy and sore. Just mix together 8 ounces of warm pineapple juice with two teaspoons of honey for a soothing drink.

  17. I'm so sorry you are having the kind of problems that require legal help, but you are smart to get the right kind of help to get things resolved.
Your builders did a great job on the roof.

You need to get family law assisstance if their mum is trying to get the kids back - they need to stay with you!!!

there is an organisation called grandparents raising grandkids - contact them - they will help

Sorry to hear of the pending legal problems. Hope it is resolved quickly in your favor. The roof is great! Now you can read out there when you find time, and get some lovely shady plants that bloom...debbie

  20. Gosh, hope things turn out ok with the kids and legal advice. You're tough Chris. You can ride it out. If you're coughing a lot, you need to stop irritating your throat. In Singapore, if you see a doc about a bad cough, he will tell you not to take any kind of fruits or juice until it stops. Hope your cough leaves soon.

  21. Who is messing with the kids?

The roof looks nice, it will give you a nice shady spot this summer.

    Hope you feel better soon.

  22. Hopefully you aren't getting pneumonia!

  23. Sounds like things are bad. Hope all works out. Good luck. Do take care feel better soon.

  24. I want to do something like that for our deck, but I wasn't sure how well it holds up over time. My in-laws has something like that and it looks pretty dirty. Not sure if it's too hard to clean or if they just don't have time to clean it.
