KITCHEN CUPBOARD REVEAL!

Well!
After much anticipation on my part, I can finally show you my new cupboard colour!  WELL... the contrasting cupboards anyway:

ABOVE:  I am beyond happy with how they look.
What do you think?

ABOVE: Due to the photos being taken at night, the colours are not quiet 'true'... but ya get the gist.  The red arrow is pointing to the cupboard door I'm thinking of making green too.  It wasn't till they were all back on that we realised it might look good as a green door too.
Though I'm not 100% sure yet?

ABOVE: Bex made me this little 'Hootie' and he is now sitting by the fruit bowls on top of the microwave... cos he matches the kitchen so well!
And he's cute.

Today I'm taking a break from painting, and plan on doing bugger all!
Maybe some sewing.
Maybe some shopping.
Maybe some sun tanning.

Just don't know yet.  It will depend on the family, what they want to do/or not do.

ONWARD...

First decision of the day, yep.. not going to paint any more cupboards in the green.  I think it looks awesome just the way it is.  Do you like the stripes????

Second decision of the day:  grocery shopping.
Been, done and all put away.  Freakin' everything seems to be more expensive this week!
We did get another full ham though, as it's so handy for lunches and dinners for everyone.  We worked out that over the week or so it lasts, we actually save money on meat!

Right, it's now 1.25 and we are finally having lunch.  Stew and the kids are heading off to the movies shortly.  I'm giving it a miss, The Penguins of Madagascar does not appeal to me at all!

Funny that.  Kids programmes/movies leave me cold now days.

I shall stay home and sew I think.

B PAYNE:  You can paint over the melamine surface but I've heard it's a right pain in the butt to do.

We removed the melamine by using a very sharp chisel to lift an edge, then it just pulled off easily.
Then sand the glue off,  SPRAY on MDF Primer, then your paint of choice.
Spraying the paint on gives an awesome finish and is so much faster than using a brush!
I used a Dulux Semi-Gloss paint, suitable for cupboards.

If you ask at the paint counter in Bunnings they will steer you to the right paint, just make sure they know what the paint is for.

GOOD LUCK!  The hardest part is choosing your colour  *smiles*.

ABOVE:  Stew arrived home with some cute flowers.  Awwww.
I've done nothing this afternoon.  It's just too hot!

End of Day:  well another glorious summer day.  I'm still so happy with how my kitchen looks, and glad so many of you think so too.  *smiles*
nite nite

  1. Ooooh I love it. It adds so much! I vote for a no to the other cupboard though. I think it could overdo it as a "feature" colour. A job very well done and you guys have done a superb job!

  2. i love what you've done Chris but anymore I think would make it look half and half. It is awesome as a feature. Love hooty too. I wish I had time .... Lol. Happy New Year to you all.

  3. Wow, what a difference. Looking good. I'm in the "vote no" camp too, though. Leave the green as a highlight or feature, too much would overwhelm.

    Hi

Looks good, maybe you could make the door next to it with the glass front green ?

    Cheers

I love it! I didn't realize you could paint cabinet like that. Our are the same material and just a plain beige. Would LOVE to paint them. What did you use?

  11. WOW! The best thing is, this morning I read your post from last night promising the cabinet pics today. Yet, here they are before I go to bed! Joy! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the colors. I was going to say DO NOT paint the other door, but you already decided the same! Was the owl intended to match the cabinets so perfectly? I think they are fabulous!

  15. I like it, I really do! I'd leave the blue door blue. I think it's ok, and it looks like both doors lead to the same cubbard.
