BLOODY STUPID... AND LUCKY

ABOVE:  I held a tube of frozen sausage meat for a good half hour last night!
WHY do you ask?

Well cos I had cooked chicken in the heavy cast iron roasting dish .... and I STUPIDLY forgot the lid was SCALDING HOT and picked it up with my bare hand... and got burnt.

LUCKILY for me I dropped it IMMEDIATELY and whipped around and got my hand under running cold water within a second or two and kept it there for at least 10 minutes, then I held that frozen sausage meat tube for ages too.

As a result I do not have blisters, just a few very shiny patches on me fingers and thumb... and a general soreness where it was burnt.

I have always been so very careful with that roasting dish too... I know it is solid cast iron and holds the heat...  I hope I never do that again cos it bloody well hurt!

TODAY:  Going to get these kids OUT OF THE HOUSE... don't know where yet... but it will happen.  They need to burn off some energy cos they are driving me and Steve nuts!

ONWARD...

I went mad... and had a big cleaning splurg...  well actually I do it often so I suppose I'm mad all the time!
Anyway... I got the laundry cleaned out... and the linen cupboards... and now I'm taking a break.
Steve is still in bed (9.30am here), and I don't blame him!  These kids don't have volume control buttons, or MUTE.  Shame that.

I can't believe how many of you have your brains in the GUTTER!  I know the photo was a wee bit........."suggestive"....... but come ON.. I ain't that type of girl!  NO, really ...... I'm NOT.  lol!

It's cold today!  I have on a cardy and ugg boot slippers for the first time this year!  And we are staying home... watching movies, playing with Lego, Playstation etc.  It's quite nice.

ANONYMOUS:  I did not post that photo because it looked rude.  It was what it was.. me holding something that was frozen and in the right shape to stop the burning on my fingers and hand.  SO THERE.  And yep, my wrist does look fat... probably just like yours eh?

ANONYMOUS:  yep, it's a public blog... with COMMENT MODERATION on... so I can CHOOSE to publish or NOT PUBLISH comments.  So I'm choosing NOT to publish your next one... ahhh the joys of 'DELETE' options!

ONWARD...

End of Day:  seems I upset a certain person over my 'rude' photo.  Too bad said certain person thinks I put too much on MY blog about me and my family... it's MY BLOG and I can put whatever the hell I want on it.  So "Marijke", f*#k off would ya?  I don't need all your stupid comments...
DIET: blew it
nite nite.

  7. Ouchy! You know one time I was teaching my kids how they shouldn't touch the metal bits on the stove after cooking because they're HOT. And guess what I did. I touched the metal bits and howled all night.

  9. Ouch, I hope your hand isn't hurting too much now. Keep putting cream on it.

If the weather holds take the kids to the beach & get them to collect shells & stuff then come back & make pictures for the boys to take home to their families (tires them out, keeps them busy & the crap gets taken home at the end of the holiday).

  12. That was very slick of you to think cold water and something frozen. That probably saved you from a Very painful wound. It is hard to think clear when dealing with pain like that. :)

It was a rude photo - hence why you posted it. Don't pretend otherwise. The photo does make your wrist look fat.

  24. Ouch! I can imagine that burn would have hurt. My first thought when I saw you grasping the sausage meat was that you were trying to thaw it out in a hurry for tea. I guess we all interpret things differently. Anyway, I hope your hand is better soon :)

  25. WHAT???? YOU HAVE SOME RUDE COMMENTERS!!! And some good friends too. Good grief! I was only kidding about the photo... Hugs and feel better soon. I don't know how with such a friendly blog you can draw them out of the woodwork but GOD BLESS YOU dear. :)

  26. Dang, I hope you're OK. Once I worked in this cafeteria and my co-worker dropped his keys in the deep fat fryer, and without thinking, stuck his hand in there to get them out. He immediately put his hand in the crushed ice machine, and he was uninjured. Amazing but true!

  27. Pathetic anonymous, jealous of Chris because we all love her down to earth nature. Instead of your mind being in the gutter you should have had the courtesy to ask if she was okay. Don't visit her blog if you are that insecure about yourself you haven't anything nice to say about this warm caring lady whom I don't know personally but know from reading her blog that she has a heart of gold that would help anyone.
Chris I hope your hand is feeling better, and sure hope the sausage meat helped!!!!

  29. I think I need to get out more. I'm like Lynda, it never occurred to me to think the photo was at all suggestive until I read the comments. I thought you were being sensible, everyone knows you need to cool a burn down as fast as you can.

oh you poor thing Chris - not only do you have a burnt mitten, you have dopey commenters! Crikey - when you have a burn you grab what ever shape thing suits best - although I think my mate timmy grabbed the wrong thing when he banged his head - the bottle of Vodka didn't quite meld to the shape of his skull - the slugs inbetween probably too the edge off the pain though! Hope its all good now :0)

  31. I can't help but laugh at what people get worked up over. Seriously? Do you act like that every time someone pulls out a sausage or hot dog? OH HOW RUDE!? People seriously need to get a sense of humor.

  34. Ouch! Sounds very painful. Reminds me of Easter when I slamed the back door of the mini van on my head. Even after icing for a couple of hours, my head had a lump for almost a week.
