BIT SAD TODAY

 I'm a bit sad.

Mike and Joyce leave for Palmerston North this afternoon.

Might not see them again for a while.

ABOVE:  There's Joyce wearing her GORGEOUS Christmas Socks last night.

She loves neon green, so I better start hunting some down  .... lol!

Our FBG group have started a New Year Challenge.

We have until February 28th to do everything on the BINGO Card:

ABOVE:  As it's terribly hot right now, I think I'll do the easy ones first!

Today I'm going to buy a Kindle.  I had one but it died years ago.  So, getting another Kindle means I can read as many books as I want, without having to buy actual books and store them.

I used to be a massive bookworm, from the age of about 10 on.

I would finish a book every couple of days.  In fact, it was rare if I wasn't reading a book.

The past (probably) 12 years or so reading books just stopped.

No idea why really.  It will be good to get back into reading.

Right, I am going to roll over and snooze for a bit longer, then see what everyone is doing today.

It's been so lovely spending so much time with family the past week or so.

1 pm:  And I am now the owner of a new Kindle.

ABOVE:  And I just bought my first book.  A grand price... $3.26.
Might start reading it later on today too.

As expected, it's another blistering hot day.  The boys have already been in the pool.
The 'grown ups' went into town, and came back with Sushi for lunch.  Yumm.

8 pm:  Mike and Joyce arrived back in Palmerston North safely around dinner time.

Stew and I lazed away the afternoon, had a swim, ate snacks, fell asleep!

Then Steve, Bex and the boys came over after dinner and we all ended up back in the pool.

Time to wind down for the day.  Hopeing it gets a bit cooler at bedtime!

  1. Good morning!
Not sure what I will be up to today. Probably trying to move my fingers/wrist. I am doing that compulsively since I have a removeable cast now. Starting to worry that I may have permanent damage. But hopefully, it is all normal, and I am just being paranoid. Can't really go outside. It is still negative 30 degrees. Maybe start a new puzzle!

My reading history is EXACTLY the same as you! Very few books read in the past 10-12 years. When prior to that I was ALWAYS reading a book. Blame it on internet / netflix / etc.

  2. My Kindle has to be at just the right angle to charge up. I haven't read in quite awhile either!

  3. I do Audible books so I can sew and do gardening while I listen. My whole family uses the same Audible library. I have been a member for years. I pay a monthly fee.

I realize things are different, but our local library system has online books for free, both tablet and listening versions.

I love FBGs bingo sheet. Very appropriate in the heat wave were having. Always sad when family go home. I just come home from Napier and it's very lonely considering I can't drive anywhere. Kj

  6. Great idea from Vickie - audio books allow you to get on with other stuff. You can get them for free from the Auckland Library so I presume the same would apply in Hamilton.

  7. I am on my third kindle and have the app on my phone so I can read wherever I am. I love books but the convenience of the kindle means I can have as many as I want on hand. If I go below a dozen ready to read I get twitchy. I was the same with proper books so you can imagine how many I gave to the op shop. Because there are so many inexpensive titles I read books I wouldn't normally.

  10. Gosh, I am a little envious of you all in the pool - I'm afraid I would not be unhappy with that heat. We arrived back home from our Xmas and New Year family visits yesterday in a blizzard, and it is SO COLD ☹ Don't think we will be moving far in the next few days but enough to keep us busy taking down decorations/tree and unpacking and catching up with washing. Lovely to see all your lovely photos of family over the holidays.....all the children getting so grown up ! I'm thinking of my dear Mummy today on her heavenly birthday πŸ’”
