CONCRETE

We had an area just outside the sunroom doors that Stew had filled with stones,  when we put the pool in.

I hated those stones!  They kept getting into the lawn, and hurt underfoot.

So I asked Stew to take them out and put some concrete there.

He finally did it yesterday:

ABOVE:  When he was finished, I put 3 shells in the very corner.

Then SBBs arrived for a swim.  So I showed the boys, and explained why they could not stand on it, as it was not set yet.

Then I went to get in me togs.  And left the door open...

ABOVE:  And BLOODY HELL!  Coco went and walked through it!  Oh well... her footprints are immortalised forever.

Today?  Hit repeat.  Hang at home.  Swim.  Eat.  Relax.  Repeat.
Perfect summer.

1.06 pm. We went for a drive... then walk. On way home now. Update later.

ABOVE:  Spur of the moment decision.  We went to The Mount.
We drove around and around in circles for about half an hour before we finally got somewhere to park.
We were actually about to give up, so luckily we did find a park not too far from the base of the Mount.
We walked the base of the Mount.

ABOVE:  It was a crazy time of the day to be walking, but as there was plenty of shade, we did it anyway.

ABOVE:  yes we got horribly hot and red faced!
But we enjoyed it.  The scenery is stunning, and the sea was rough with lots of lovely crashing waves.

ABOVE:  3/4ths of the way around, I spied this cute little rabbit.  He was just sitting on the side of the hill eating.  I could have reached out and patted him, he was that close.

ABOVE:  That is a statue of a diver... looks to be done in brass.

ABOVE:  The water on the Pilot Bay side was stunning.  The colours were just amazing.  So many different shades of blue and turquoise!
I wanted to just jump in, but Stew wouldn't let me.
Spoiltsport.

ABOVE:  On our way out of the Mount, we stopped at a Design Shop.  Might have bought something there!

ABOVE:  The old brick house at the base of the Kaimai's... now has a neighbour!  It's a cream, relocated house.  It looks weird there.  The brick house has been 'on it's own' there ever since I was a very small child, so at least 60 years.

ABOVE:  Bought these from that lovely shop.  I've never seen wine glasses with air bubbles in them before!
They are utterly gorgeous and feel so lovely to hold.
The other little ones?  Just liked them.  lol

ABOVE:  There was a gift sitting at the front door for me when we got home!
(well ... SBB's had brought it inside for us).
It's from an anonymous FBG friend.  Part of our BINGO CHALLENGE.   Do a random act of kindness for a fellow FBG'er.
I didn't expect anything being I don't live in Cambridge anymore.
So I really appreciated that someone took the time to do that for me.
( Thank You C 😊 )

It is now 5.15 pm and the day is still blisteringly hot... might not bother cooking anything for dinner just yet.

9.35 pm:  Didn't cook.  Had KFC.  Lazy tart.
But just too hot and tired to cook.

Heading off to bed early.  Catch ya tomorrow.

ABOVE:  Coming from the West.

ABOVE:  Heading East.

10 pm:  Stew was closing the windows at 9.45 pm and saw something weird in the sky.  A long 'string' of light, going across the sky from West to East.  It was only visible for about 2 minutes, then it was gone off to the East out of our sight.

Did anyone else see it?  Anyone know what it was?

  4. For some reason dogs love to walk in wet cement, maybe because it feels warm to their feet. In the past I worked for a blind woman who had the smartest seeing eye dog. It had saved her life one time by knocking her out of the way of a car that was backing up and the driver hadn't seen her behind the car. She fell down, but was not run over. The dog was so intelligent and well behaved, as Seeing Eye Dogs are known to be. But one time some workmen had poured a rather large cement repair on the side walk in front of the building where we worked. I don't know why the workmen left it without a plastic banner around it, but they did. When the woman I worked for and her Seeing Eye Dog came to work that day her Seeing Eye Dog had taken her right across the newly poured wet cement. Then she had to train her dog not to do that again. Apparently, her dog had never been taught about wet cement.
