THREE NOW

Last night I found out that my Mum's sister, Jean, had passed away.

So, in the space of five months, three siblings have died.  Three out of ten.  In only five months!

I think that's it folks.  Three in a row.

ABOVE:  This photo was taken in May, 2017 at Mum's 80th Birthday.  Hard to believe three of them have now died.

So, not a great way to start a new day.  Particularly when I wanted it to be another good day.  I don't know what our plans are for the day, but I think it should involve something fun.

Cos I'm damned if I'm going to get into another funk!

12.55 pm:  Stew and I did housework this morning, and  just pottered around the yard and so on.
Then Bex and the boys arrived, so we had lunch together.

ABOVE:  Coco getting spoiled rotted.

We are not going out and having 'fun' after all.  Amanda's two youngest are getting dropped off later, so yeah.
Maybe we can do something together tomorrow.

4.20 pm:  Stew has been outside tending to gardens, moving a few things around to give us room for two feijoa trees.  And he encounters a paper wasp nest.
He got stung on the hand.

So inside he goes and grabs a can of fly spray.  Sprays the nest and as many wasps as he can.
Then runs outta spray.

All good.   Until I find another nest!

So I tottle off to the supermarket to get more spray.  $116 later.... spray, cleaners, meat, bread and so on.

Seriously!  All I needed was fly spray!

And there ya go.  Exit stage right, one rather large wasp nest.
Exit stage left, me to clean wasp killer off me.

11.56 pm:  Sorry!  I've had  a busy evening.  Well, not that busy.
We had Emily and Liam here for dinner, then Amanda picked them up and took them home.
After that I got to work on my puzzle, and just got carried away!
Time to sign off, and stop making peeps worry about me!  Sorry Felicity.

  1. I am sorry to hear about your Mom's sister. Maybe your "fun" should involve water. A beach, or some such thing.

  4. That's a lot of deaths from one family in such a short time. Definitely go out and have some fun today because if nothing else, death tells us that we only get one shot at our own lives.

  10. I feel for you, Chris. In 2018 in a 5 week period we lost my brother in law, my sister in law (the remaining Brother in Law's wife), my husband's uncle and my father in law - and my mother in law went into aged care on the day father in law died. It was a shit of a time.

  12. So that's where all of our paper wasps have gone! Usually around our place I get rid of at least half a dozen of those nests (smaller than that though) but this year I've not seen a single paper wasp which is very unusual. I hate the buggers!!!

  13. What's a paper wasp as opposed to a normal wasp?

    1. Paper wasps are smaller, and more vicious! In fact they are evil little fuckers that chase you if you annoy them. I got chased by a swarm in Cambridge when I disturbed their nest, and got stung multiple times. Paper wasps can sting you over and over again too. Their stings are worse than a 'normal' wasp too, if you get stung too many times in one go, you can die.

My husband got stung by a paperwasp, the fool picked it up with a single tissue, was the funniest thing, I had to leave the room from laughing, he also got stung by a centipede cos he picked it up with his bare hands and got bitten by a massive weta. And yet is terrified by mice.
