HAPPY ANNIVERSARY DARLING... & FEELING FRUSTRATED

TODAY is our 25th Wedding Anniversary.  A milestone for sure.  But really, just another day in my 'Soap Opera'...  I think we are going out to dinner tonight.

FRUSTRATED....Life is getting in my way!
I want to sit down and read all me blog buddies updates and leave them some comments... BUT I have stuff to do, places to be, and other things on me mind.  Grrrr.

Hopefully, after I've been to work at the Hospice Shop today I can do just that though? I hope so, I'm starting to feel guilty now!

Steve and Bex went out shopping yesterday, and as The Baby Factory was having a half price sale... they had a bit of fun:

ABOVE:  they got a baby carseat for HALF PRICE, and some baby flannels, bibs etc.

ABOVE:  I had a go at putting some curls in Bex's hair... she has very fine, wispy hair... it wasn't easy!  Maybe I will do a better job another day?

On another subject which I won't 'label',  I will say this:  I am enforcing a  'don't go there, don't say another thing'..... and hopefully in a few months things will have settled down.

You never know what might happen tomorrow.  I know this only too well, having lost both my brothers and my Dad... life can take many nasty twists and turns... I hope no one regrets how things were left...  if someone in the family is not here tomorrow.

ONWARD...

OMG ANNE!!!  You have got to be kidding????  Stew and I would be sent into total SHOCK if ANY of our kids even gave it a thought... do something nice for us to help 'celebrate' our 25th Wedding Anniversary?  Yeah RIGHT.
We are not even on their radar.
Actually, now that's made me cry.

Hospice certainly is the place for me to go to cheer up!  I love it there.  So many really lovely people come into our shop... and I get a kick out of seeing them so happy over their purchases... ALL TREASURE!

Yep, I got a bit today too... some more linen for Lacy's house, and a really nice 'something' for Stew to mark today.  Can't post a photo today obviously, the man reads me blog every night before he comes home from work!

Thanks for all the lovely well wishes for a nice day... fingers crossed it is.

Housing Corp NZ have really come to the party quickly for Lacy!  We expected to wait weeks for them to get the lawns mown and the house guttering cleaned out... but no!  They had it all done today, now we can actually see the boundary's!  lol

Stew has booked us dinner at Lonestar, one of our favourite restaurants...  the one in Manukau is just lovely too.  We haven't been there in a couple of years... so it's going to be nice going  there tonight.

End of Day:  well dinner at Lonestar was just lovely!  As per usual, I left almost all the HUGE roast potato chunks... as it takes me all my time to just eat the meat!
ON TRACK: yep, sorta.
nite nite.

  6. I had to post Chris sending my love, thoughts, best wishes and congratulations to both you and Stew :) 25 yrs is fantastic

I also think it would have been nice if all things could have been shelved and the kids gotten together and helped you both celebrate such a wonderful milestone

As you know, losing my sister recently the week before her 50th birthday is still affecting me and I agree with you so much in living for today as tomorrow we might not be here with each other

  9. Most times 25th Anniversaries are not on your children's radar. They are too busy with their own lives to put on a celebration for this milestone. Do not blame them. It's life. Can you remember where you were when your parents reached their 25th.

Meantime I do hope you and Stew have a happy day.... no dramas. And find a really special way to make it special for yourselves. If you don't rate it worth a celebration of some kind even if you wait for the weekend, no-one else will.

Take care. You sound very tired.

    Blessings

    Big hugs

  21. Congrats and the biggest hugs on 25 years!!

Fingers crossed your ADULT kids come through and at least take you two out for dinner or at the very minimum flowers & a card.

That would be the least they could do, especially as you do so much for them. I am sure Lacey, Steve, Bex will do something, would be unthinkable for them not to, when you have provided a home for them even when they are old enough to take care of themselves, given them a second chance when no one else would, welcomed them into your family with open arms and just generally loved them unconditionally. Your other children are grown adults and if they have any kind of moral compass they will do something.

I am sure they would want to repay the love your shower on them.

  28. Happy 25th anniversary Chris and Stew. I hope you have a lovely dinner out tonight. Maybe another weekend away is in order to celebrate your special milestone.

You are so right in your comment about not knowing what tomorrow will bring - life is too short as it is, so too precious to dish out crap that one might come to regret. I always regret that I never told my Dad how much I loved him before he died unexpectedly (and we got along well all of the time). :(

  36. Hi Chris,

Congratulations! Like others have said, that is no mean feat, especially in this day and age. Also, some of your children are old enough to remember your wedding - they have less of an excuse than those of us who weren't born then! My parents celebrated theirs with a party in Rotorua (Dad's home town) because they got married in Dunedin (Mum's home town) back in the dark ages (just kidding!) of 1970 when it was very costly to travel around the country, which meant many of Dad's relatives couldn't attend.

I agree, an event to celebrate (party, holiday, weekend away) is not unreasonable and not a lost opportunity until you say it is.

Love to you and Stew. Have a wonderful night if you can and forget about everything (easier said than done, I know).

    Love Penny xoxo

  37. And, I might add, we got our parents a plaque to congratulate them on 25 years of partnership and good parenting. Now show that to your children from me! Penny xo

  47. Chris, Happy 25th anniversary. I hope you had a great day. For hubs and I, we only expect something from each other to make the day special. We long ago decided we don't want to expect something from our kids because it's our day. If they do anything, it's a bonus. Thus far, both my kids have stirred themselves enough to wish us Happy Anniversary. When they were younger, they made us cards. I foresee them ignoring the day as they grow older.
