Second time this week, I'm off to Cambridge.
This time it's to mosaic group.
I will while away a couple of hours yakking, and sticking bits of glass onto me concrete paver.
I'm sure it will be enjoyable.
Then I will come home and make a start on painting the walls that I filled teeny, tiny holes in yesterday.
I'm a bit cross with myself for putting so many hearts on the wall! Never thought I'd be taking them down eh?
In our new home I'm going to mount them all on ONE big piece of ply, so there's only ONE hole in the wall! I already have plans on how to do it differently too... not all across the wall like I had them here.
You will just have to wait a good while, before you can see what I have planned for them.
ABOVE: And I just had to share this.Right, I'm off to get ready to leave for Cambridge. Catch ya later.
I spent an hour this morning DE-CLUTTERING the house some more! I'm slowly taking away all of US ... I feel really sad.
ABOVE: And the heart wall is no more. Just waiting for paint to dry now so I can at least put one painting up on that wall.
I was thinking about consolidating your hearts in a future house too. I was thinking about putting them in a big frame, with a contrasting backing that shows them.
ReplyDeleteOn the clutter topic from yesterday -
Trinkets on a shelf, buyers might think - glad I don’t have to dust all that, but it doesn’t impact them.
However things hanging on the wall in a big grouping, consciously or subconsciously, the holes in the wall are a worry for a potential buyer. Even though you intend to fill the holes, not everyone would. It is a worry for buyers if there is stuff hanging all over the house.
I think I mentioned, the rusty bits in your yard might be a worry too. I don’t think you have to remove them, but IMO it be stated in your house particulars that it is all going with you.

I agree 100% about stuff on the walls and basically anything lying around. Selling a house is about selling someone else's vision, not yours. Forget what you love and think about what others would love. Look at photos of other homes for sale for ideas. I am surprised that your real estate agent didn't say any of this (remember when you sold your Auckland home and you had it dressed?) For hearts on the walls you can attach with 3M velcro for pictures. No holes - we did Stu's fathers entire house like that, not one hole and the walls are covered with his memorabilia.
ReplyDeleteYeh, I saw the WTF.. Awesome, in the right way I hope.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter's dogs are called Waka, Tui and Fern WTF! LOL KJ
ReplyDeleteLove those gorgeous tiles. Wow.kj
ReplyDeleteA little Christmas is nice, your house won't look sterile.
ReplyDeleteLeave the Christmas decorations - you haven't put that much out and you will be living there until after Christmas - there is only three weeks to go. It is your house until it is sold and you and Stew have to still be happy there. People come to look at the house and not your personal items. You have removed far more than I would have done. Filling the holes and painting where necessary makes sense but please stop now. Audrey
