SAME, BUT DIFFERENT and TAMAHERE TWILIGHT MARKET

Well... looks like we might be in luck for our Twilight Market today.  It's looking nice out there.

It's so good not having to get up early today, that makes me rather happy.

Last night I finished my latest runner.... but is it a runner?

ABOVE:  I think it's probably gunna be called a 'Square Braid Table Topper'.  It measures 78 cm X 78 cm, so a medium sorta size.

What do you think of it?  Should I make more this size/shape?  I could make another one a bit bigger, but you would need to have a rather big square table to put it on.  Who has big square tables now days?

Back to today's plans, we will do a few jobs around the house and yard, then pack the car for the market.

We want to be out at Tamahere by about 2 pm.

The market is from 4 - 8 pm.  Which means we will be late home tonight.  I prefer that to an early start any day.

9 am.  Been awake since 4.30 am, thanks to Coco trying to get into our bedroom.  We've had to lock her out as she keeps me awake with her sniffing, snorting, scratching and so on.

So now she's decided to scratch on our door and whimper and whine!  Grrrrr.

I am going to have to put the dogs back in the garage overnight I think.  Such a shame, as they loved being in the family room.

All my morning jobs are done.  Stew has just arrived home from the supermarket with the essentials... DIET COKE being top of the list.

10.15 am, and I swear the weather changes as often as I blink.  It is now very cloudy, and feels like bloody rain!  BUT every weather forecast I read says no rain, just clouds.  One even says it's blistering sunshine right now.  Bullshit.

As Stew just said, it will be what it will be, and of course, that is so right.  I am just praying it does not rain.  I can deal with anything but rain, it ruins a market.

ABOVE: How lucky can you get!  The sun has come out. It is STINKIN' hot. We got very hot setting up, but can now simply relax and wait for the shoppers.  We have an hour until the official start, but there's already some people here.

WISH US LUCK, I need the cash for Christmas!

9.07 pm, and we are home after a good market.

There were HEAPS of people this afternoon/evening!  I've never seen that many at Tamahere before.

While not rolling in it, we made quite enough to be happy with our day.

Christmas is saved... 😂😅😆.

It's good to be home now, I'm damn tired as.  It was hot until about 6.30 pm, then I got cold.  Luckily we always have warm stuff in the car, so I could wrap up and stay comfortable.

It's nice and warm in our house, so I'm a happy girl.

Now for a light dinner.

11.06 pm:  dinner is done.  Watched a bit of TV, and now we are off to bed.  It's been a long day. A sleep in is a given tomorrow morning.

  1. Love that runners. The course are so bright. But you're right. Thinking of our family tables, they're all the longer ones.
Hope the market is the best

We are having so much rain in Australia. No land of dry at the moment just continual wet. With more in store with an already saturated ground. Not great at this time of year. The only thing worse than hot is raining and hot. 4pm would have been a super time for a market. Fingers crossed it can still go ahead. Over here in Australia they are really into staging homes. Which is a royal pain - because it is expensive to do and it just creates this idea that it has to be like a display home. I mean you are not buying the bed and doona - the layout of the house should be the most important. Not if there is matching cushions. Who came up with this idea?? Have a good day. Maria (Australia)

  3. I don't think you should make a bigger square. The traditional runner works on most size and shape tables. But a big square... That table would probabbly have a tablecloth instead. But the small one can cover a side table or go in the middle of any table. Hope your weather holds... Good luck!

Could you do a round topper or would that be too tricky?

  5. I'd buy a square one if I were there! Placemat size/shape (rectangles)
for under individual place settings would be great! Make sets in the same pattern or color-way and I think those would sell really well. And one for the middle of the table, maybe square or round. Ooo, please try.

Quick question - does Coco have allergies? My dog sniffles, snuffles, snorts, rubs her nose on everything, scratches etc. She is allergic to grass. Did you know you can give them Zyrtec (cetirizine hydrochloride). I give my dog one in a piece of cheese most mornings (not every day, and vet approved) and now she hardly moves through the night. So much better for everyone. I think for a dog Coco's size you'd need a half tablet, but google it or ask your vet for guidelines. It certainly helped mine. xx Colleen
