DAY TWO QUARANTINE - AUCKLAND

Right, time for a 'room reveal'.... *snort*

ABOVE:  A 'Panoramic' view of the room.  It's a very good sized room, a bit bigger than the room I had in Sydney.

ABOVE:  The bathroom, again, bigger than in Sydney.

ABOVE:  A very well stocked bathroom!

ABOVE:  View from the door.  Bathroom to the left, then triple wardrobes.

ABOVE: And there we have the iron and ironing board... I mean toasted sandwich maker!  😄😂😆

ABOVE:  An abundance of coat hangers!  Just as well, cos I have a few more clothes than when I left New Zealand.

ABOVE:  The view of the 'kitchenette' and study areas.  There's a very good sized fridge under the bench.

MY VIEWS:

ABOVE: the view to the left, and...

ABOVE: to the right.  So... a very average city view. But I'm not exactly here for the view eh.

AND THEN... when I went out to talk about me shopping delivery yesterday, I found there was a 'bonus' window right outside my door.  My room is at the end of the building, hence that window.

ABOVE: LOOK!  I can sit on the floor or window ledge and see the Sky Tower!  How neat.
My door is exactly opposite the emergency stairs too... very handy if I want to get out fast! 😊😏😇

ABOVE: I'm really happy to have a proper couch to sit on.

Lastly ... there are 13 steps from the door to the window, and NO, I won't be moving the furniture!  It's fine the way it is.

I mentioned last night that I got a note shoved under my door eh?
WELL... here it is:

ABOVE:   According to THAT... I get out on DAY 12, a full two nights earlier than I was told when I got here!
OMG  ... that is FANTASTIC.

It doesn't quite work in with Stew, he's here on business until Thursday 12th November. But we can work something out.
Even if I stay with him at his motel while he's still working?

I will sort it out.  I'm so happy.

I hope they've not made a mistake.  I will go down to Reception first thing this morning to double check.

ABOVE:  Level 4 Outdoor Deck area, where we can go for 40 minutes a day, for exercise.

ONWARD...

I.  AM. CRUSHED.  The Ministry of Health got it wrong.
I have to stay until Friday the 13th.
I could kill someone for getting my hopes up then crushing them.

ABOVE: Finally, I am getting the food I ordered.  And that breakfast was really lovely.  Mushrooms and eggs on a ciabatta bun.  And the croissant had a little sausage in it. YUMMY.
Let's give it a 10/10 shall we.  😋😊😆

I'm still feeling quite upset about the stuff up over my leaving day, but it is what it is.  I just have to suck it up and go back to : TWELVE MORE SLEEPS.

ABOVE:  10.41 am.  Just got that shoved under me door.  Yeah.  Fixing their mistake.

12.54 pm: I have spent the morning playing Solitaire ... and just fluffing around doing bugger all.
Lunch arrived:

ABOVE: I don't know what those 'buns' were made of, or how they were made, but they were just lovely!   So light and fluffy, not dry at all.  And the meat patty was very good too.

ALL the meat served in this hotel is 'Halal'... if you don't know what that means, look it up on Google.
It does make the meat a bit different.  But quite OK by me.

Anyway I digress... today's lunch gets a resounding 10/10.

After the first two dinners ... things have picked up!  I can't complain at all.

I'm now off to have a wander.

ABOVE:  Lunchtime at my home too. My chair is getting plenty of use!

I've had a quiet afternoon.  Went for a walk.  Didn't talk with anyone.
Listened to more music.  Felt bored shitless.
Then dinner arrived.

ABOVE:  Lasagna and 'seasonal' vegetables.
The lasagna was OK, the veges?  Fucking Kumera (I HATE Kumera), Cauliflower, Broccoli and Carrots.  THIRD NIGHT IN A ROW.
Kill me now.
Dinner tonight gets a suckful 5/10.
Oh and I don't like Lamingtons either.

I've now got a few hours to kill before going to bed.  And I am not in the mood to watch TV.
Just crabby as.

I am going to sign off now... it's not like anything is gunna happen tonight eh?

P.S.  I couldn't let it go.  So I went down to the lobby and spoke to Reception.  I said if I got Cauliflower, Broccoli and Carrots again I would throw them over the balcony and they would land on the lobby floor.
NO MORE of those veges, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Yes, I am the 'guest' from hell.

  1. It would be great if you can get out early. According to the note you get out the day before you get your test results. Maybe you can go as soon as the results come in.

  4. I know you had your hopes raised but if you look on the bright side... you can get OUTSIDE!! You are not locked in your room, the food is better and you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Just think of walking out of their at 6pm on Friday the 13th and seeing Stew standing there ready to give you a massive hug. Not long now :)

  5. The thought of seeing and hugging my Stew just made me cry. It still seems so far away.

  6. At least you're in NZ and can see things that are familiar. And leave your room for fresh air. I cannot begin to imagine how tough it must have been for you in Sydney. But someone should be shot - it might seem like a simple mistake to some but for those who are living it and have lived it in Australia it is extremely traumatic.

  7. What happened to low carb diabetic meals?
That bao is kiwi style. Only Kiwis would think to put a meat pattie in a Asian bao🤣

  8. That was an odd looking lunch. Glad it was tasty. Two 10 point meals! That's great. I am sorry about the extra 2 days. Steve is looking good.

  9. Bao buns and the dressing are full of sugar and so is just juice.
Go hard, order healthy and lose more kilos in iso!!

  10. I'm glad you are enjoying your meals. Bao buns are not ultra-bad in moderation - it all depends on the recipe and how they are cooked. The recipe I use (https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/steamed-bao-buns) is steamed (which is healthier than baked) and has less than 2g of sugar per serve plus only 1g of fat. The carbs are the high part, but as I said - moderation is the key - and if you enjoy them occasionally, then so what. I think at present, it's more about being kind to yourself than worrying about what you are eating personally. I hope that your day is not proving too boring there.

  12. We have cauliflower and carrots almost every night as they're the only vegetables the kids will eat! Hope you get some peas or beans or something different tomorrow. Do you pay for the NZ quarantine like you had to for Australia? Hope things pick up for the rest of the time. It must be hard being so close to family, but not being able to see them in person :-(

  13. I love cauliflower, broccoli and carrots but understand that you don't. I hope you get something else tomorrow! Question: when you go down to the lobby etc I presume you are touching buttons on the lift etc so how do they stop cross infection of possible covid cases? I know this happened awhile back in isolation so it's surprising they are allowing such free movement. Are the surfaces wiped often?

    1. I bet you wouldn't like them when they are grossly overcooked and luke warm at best... night after night. All surfaces are wiped down all day long. There is sanitizer outside and inside every lift that you must use.

    2. That's good to know for your health and for everyone else. Thanks for the reply, I'm glad that is being done.

,not the guest from hell at all! You are paying good money ( a lot of money) for basically food. They need to get that right. Keep complaining!! On the bright side- the end is nigh...... you’ll be back with Stew and the rest of your family so soon... xxx

  16. OMG - Please throw the veggies over the balcony! I am sure you will get them again.
    No, don't!
I wouldn't want you to get sent back to Australia or anything due to bad behavior!
    Hang in there.

  17. I hate those veges too. But I love Lamington - thanks to you I had to Google it and I found out that we just call them coconut squares and it is one of my family's favourite. 😁 But now I know the real name and its origin. 😉

Hope you have better luck with remaining dinners.
Thinking of you. Hang in there, just a little bit more and you will be FREE! 😉

    Hugs, Danka
