UNCERTAIN DAY...AND TREASURES!

I have an uncertain day ahead of me.
I might just be staying home.
Or I might be going to Hamilton... it all depends on if Stew can take half the day off work to be home with the kids.
I won't know until he's gone to work and checked his appointments. Fingers crossed... cos if I can go to Hamilton I will be thrilled to bits.
I can't say WHY I might be going to Hamilton... except it's to see someone. LOL

ABOVE: This freaking cute wee glass bowl... I have NO USE FOR IT... but I just had to buy it! 5o cents.. it was hardly going to bankrupt me!


ABOVE: A Hangman Game... I thought the kids would love playing this, and what an excuse to practise their spelling!

ABOVE: this gorgeous hand crocheted shawl ( $2 !), which looks so lovely over the back of this couch in the lounge. ... shaking my head, such a bargain.

ABOVE: OK.... so I didn't get him at the Hospice Shop (I picked him up at the Whitianga Rugby Club... ha ha ha!).. but he's my BIGGEST Treasure... I adore him.

ONWARD... let's see what the day brings....

Yaaa.. I am going to Hamilton. Stew is coming home at lunchtime so I can go!

I'm taking some of my cards with me too... to try and find a shop in Hamilton to stock them.. fingers crossed!

I'm home again! Saw the 'someone'... which was lovely. Then I stopped in at a shop I would love to have my cards in... but the owner wasn't in so I have to make an appointment to see her. Will do that tomorrow.

It has rained almost non-stop today... talk about depressing! But... I'm quite happy again... some days I just have a really 'BLAH' day... I'm sure lots of people do eh?

My niece in Australia rang me too.. and she managed to make me cry a few times ... the TART! But her call cheered me up actually!

Wonder what Stew has on for dinner? Must go see....

End of Day: and I'm tired. Not sleeping well at night... getting a few hot flushes again... might have to visit me Dr again soon I think. Not enough hours in the day... am not reading blogs at the moment... just too busy! sorry. nite nite.

MASSES TO DO...

ABOVE: a card I made last night that I particularly like... I 'blinged' it heaps!

Griffin's bum went through his last pair of school shorts yesterday... after I had patched them twice! So first thing this morning I am going down to the school to buy him another pair... size 16 this time! Bloody kid is only 8 years old and he's wearing shorts bigger than our 20 and 23 year old sons! No idea where he got his bum from! LOL

I am relieving at the Hospice Shop today.... so that is the rest of my morning taken care of.

After that I am going to Manukau to do some jobs... posting a duck to a lady in Australia who is gathering soft toys to give to kids in hospital, get more envelopes for my cards, not sure what else!

Maybe I will 'shout' myself some lunch out on my own. Though it really is no fun on one's own.... maybe I will just come home and have a peanut butter sandwich. Cheaper idea... and I can watch something I've taped on the TV...

Home again.... and the shop was on/off busy today... I got a few treasures too.... and a 'Hangman' game for the kids which has a real skeleton to 'hang'... the kids will love it!

I bought myself a KFC burger for lunch.. it was quite nice. Now I'm home I have to wrap cards in cellophane... then think about what we will have for dinner.... *sigh*... 'tis never ending....

End of Day: well I've been busy! Left overs for dinner... made cards till bedtime. All good. Might post some photos of my hospice shop 'treasures' tomorrow. If I remember! nite nite.

INTERESTING FACTS

Blogger changed a few thing over the weekend, making it easier to read/publish comments... and I found out a few interesting things about MY BLOG :

- I published my first ever blog post on Saturday, October 14, 2006. I was, to be quite truthful.... scared shitless when I did it! I had no idea if anyone would ever read it... let alone leave a comment.

At this stage I was only reading about 3 blogs myself... and I felt really nervous whenever I left a comment in case I offended someone! LOL ...

How times have changed! Now I leave comments left, right and centre and if I offend someone... I know I didn't intend to!

- I 'follow' about 290 blogs, and the number grows daily... which is quite a worry as there is no way I can keep up-to-date with everyone... and that makes me feel like a bad blogger!

- I have done (as of today) 1, 419 posts on my blog!

- There have been 23,673 comments left on my blog (why Thank YOU!)

- My blog has been VIEWED 483, 150 times (as of last night)

- I am almost at 500,000 Page Views!!!

So... I am thinking of doing 'something' for my HALF A MILLION VIEWS! Or my 4th Bloganniversary, whichever comes first! Any ideas??? A giveaway?

I will leave you all with that question for now... as I have to get the lunches made, kids out the door, and me off to Patchwork Class!

ONWARD...

Patchwork was so-so today.. I felt 'out of it' a bit.... just didn't feel like part of the group at all today, not sure why. I'm tired. I didn't sleep well last night at all... a few hot flushes are creeping back into my day, and that is depressing.

Not sure if I even feel like making the baby quilt anymore either... there is a baby on the way, but I'm not allowed to even mention it to anyone... so how can I get excited about it? .... crabby about that.

Over my little pity party... had a nap instead of making cards... off to prepare dinner now.... Beef Stew.

Dinner was ... delicious! One of the best beef stews I have made. Had it with lots of green veges and corn kernels. YUM YUM.

SUNDAY.... ORIGINAL TITLE EH?

Sssshhhh... Stew is sleeping in this morning.

The kids, dogs and I are confined to the Family Room so he can't hear us, and wake up. He needs the sleep, poor bugger is knackered from work stress.

I would rather be making some cards... but that would mean leaving the kids and dogs alone... and they have NO IDEA how to be quiet.

There is a high probability that we will be staying home today... there is nowhere better than home on a shitty day like today!

So... I might just fluff around the house, get some housework done, read some blogs.... then make more cards! I can almost see the finish line with the Big Whitianga Order! Yaaaa.

Dull, overcast, windy afternoon... and Stew has taken the kids to a park in Botany. I thought about going, then said "Nah"... I'd rather stay home and make cards. Boring Tart I am.

While they were out... did I enjoy the peace and quiet? Nope, I vacumed then washed all the floors. *pfffffft*... one less thing for me to do tomorrow I suppose?

At least HE is making dinner tonight!

End of Day: and I spent the entire evening on me butt watching telly with Stew! No card making. First time in weeks I've done that. Off to bed now.. nite nite.

OUCH... THAT HURT!

Last night I tripped over the dog barrier and took a fall onto the wooded floor... and cried cos it bloody well hurt! My left knee is killing me this morning, as are the toes on my right foot!

Those toes were fused straight years ago due to me having hammer-locked toes... (google it!).. so when I fell over my toes bent backwards... I tell ya.. it was EXCRUCIATING! Grrrrrr... now I am hobbling around like a friggin cripple!

NICE ONE. (I must have looked a right twit too)

If it continues being a crappy day we will just be staying home I think... I mean... it really is awful out there!

ONWARD...

We went out for a drive to Maraetai Beach... then had lunch at Sylvia Park... not much fun hobbling around there I can tell ya.

Home now and I'm going to put me feet up for a while and probably have a 'nana nap'....

So much for a nap! I lay on the couch in the Family Room... so did the dogs.... licked me face... wriggled around... waste of time!

So... I got up and started on cards again... and only stopped when Stew called me for dinner!

Dinner: Wedges, Eggs and bacon... YUM!

End of Day: miserable weather, hope it's nicer tomorrow! Coco does not like going outside in this weather, so has been doing piddles on the carpet again... Grrrrr! Not nice. nite nite.

DEDICATED TO ME DOGS

While I'm around and able to watch them, they are allowed in the lounge/family room/kitchen ....



But... when I'm busy and not able to keep an eye on our little Coco...

ABOVE: the little Tart is not allowed past the hallway! She chews EVERYTHING! Even the furniture... and as we are expecting a new lounge suite in the near future ( possibly another 4 weeks yet)... I am NOT having her gnaw on it when it does get here! NO WAY....

ABOVE: POOR GIRL... she has a sore ear and won't stop scratching it..... so I spent ages yesterday chasing her around and trying to keep her still long enough to get the cone on her! Man did she hate that! Now she's pissed off at me. Too bad.

ABOVE: Isn't Teddy looking good now! So bright and happy again.... though I can't wait for his ear hair to grow longer... let's not tell him he looks like a Dork eh?

ABOVE: the 'Guard Dog'... it would be cute... really... if only he didn't bark and bark like a mad thing when he sees someone on the street! It can drive me nuts! Oh well... he's still gorgeous!

Today: of to the Hospice Shop for my 'regular' stint... hoping I don't see anything I JUST HAVE TO BUY.... *sigh*.... cos I'm broke AGAIN....

ONWARD..... OH... do we like the new header?????? .... and it's Friday the 13th... lucky I'm not superstitious eh? lol

I'm back from work.. which was quite slow for a Friday... but still good to be doing something out of the house.. and for a good cause.

Friday the 13th.. has been nice to me so far.. but not to two of our sons (Steve and Mike).. who live in Palmerston North... they got pulled over by the Police for having no Rego or WOF... $400 ...thank. you. very. much... then they got a flat battery and had to push start the car... Mike hit his teeth while doing that and had broken one of his front teeth...so I've told him to get to a dentist and claim on ACC.... hopefully that is all that goes bad for THEM today! Poor guys... but really have no sympathy re: the Rego and Warrant... they knew it should have been done.

I'm off to have my lunch now...

End of Day: quite a normal afternoon/evening... the weather is getting quite wild out there.. we are in for a very wet and stormy weekend! nite nite.

WASTE NOT.... WANT NOT!

I almost bought another shelving unit for my Craft/Sewing room the other day.... but now... I am using the redundant TV Cabinet from the Family Room. It fits in there perfectly! Yaaaa!

Now that I have finished the 'special orders'.. I will get back into making the Kiwi Cards for the Whitianga shop. It's so much fun having something constructive (and slightly profitable) to do! LOL

No more being bored shitless!

Today is Griffin's Speld Lesson ... which means I go to Pukekohe for a mosey around again! Cool.

When I get home, it's blog reading time....

ONWARD... So, I'm sitting in the car waiting for Griffin's lesson to finish... having decided not to go to Pukekohe afterall... and out of my car window I can see beautiful countryside:

End of Day: and I'm happy to say I have finished 13 cards in 2 days, so I'm 3 ahead of my self-imposed minimum per day of 5... yaaaa! Now.. I'm tired, got work at the Hospice Shop tomorrow... so off to bed for me.

Came home, had lunch and did some housework... all riveting stuff !

Kids are due home soon... not much else to blabber on about so I'll go and get something out of the freezer for dinner I suppose!

TODAY: I am working at the Hospice Shop... they are short staffed this week and I have been called in. I am their 'ON CALL' girl... lol! So that means I will be in my element... around adults, in a shop, chance to buy something.... WHAT COULD BE BETTER?

Back from the shop... I bought a few things (as I do!)... and I got to pick up my Highlander from the Panel Beaters! Yaaaaaa... now I can go and pick up my new picture too... will have to be after the kids are home from school though... drat!

WOMBAT: I use double-sided tape, PVA glue AND a glue stick!

Home AGAIN... I picked up the painting on my own in the end... the kids wouldn't have fitted in the car WITH the painting... so Stew came home to watch them.

We are now in the process of moving furniture around so the painting will fit on the wall!

JUST TO KEEP YOU GUESSING...

ABOVE: Here is a 'snippet' of the new picture we bought yesterday for the house. Any guesses what it's of? (It measures about 2 metres X 1 Metre) I am so excited about it! I am literally counting the days until I can go and pick it up!

Today: it's Patchwork, where I will continue cutting out the Noah's Ark fabric... I am only doing this quilt in class, so it will take a while I reckon. I haven't decided yet whether I will do the whole quilt or not yet.... I am thinking of MAYBE doing each block as an individual 'piece' and framing it for the baby's wall. Not sure yet.

Well that's about 'it' for now.... got to get kids ready for school....

ONWARD...

It's another wet, miserable day, so I decided to drive the kids to school.... We get in the 'loaner' car and back out the driveway.... and SHIT! There is this awful scraping noise coming from the car... I jump out and look all around the car.. can't see a thing.... so carry on to school... all the while I can hear this horrible noise.

So, I drive that car right back to where I got it from... the Panel Beaters... there's two blokes in the yard... they see me pull in and come right over to the car immediately! I am thinking, yep, the noise is that loud they can hear it too!

Ummm... one of them bends down, reaches under the car and pulls out this:
ABOVE: yeah.... I really felt like a dick! I had been driving with this huge as piece of palm tree stuck under the car! Talk about 'Female Drivers'..... as if I didn't already feel like a twit for backing into my OWN GARAGE DOOR... *sigh*. The guys were really nice about it... they DIDN'T laugh at me... but I'm sure they did once I had driven off again.

So, that was the start of my morning... wonder what else I can get up to?

I was gunna go to Patchwork... but when I got back from the Panel Beaters I was hit with a killer headache and had to lie down for a while. .... and that 'while' lasted for 3 hours!!! I've woken up feeling much better.... but hungry! Serve me right for not having a proper dinner last night! I ate potatoe crips... YES I KNOW... evil.

Off to have something more decent now...

Where does the time go lately? I made 3 cards this afternoon... vacumed the floors, put dinner in the oven.. and bugger me if it's already dark out there! I just don't have enough hours in the day... particularly when I slept the morning away!!!

End of Day: and it's 11.28 pm... I got carried away making 4 baby cards for a girlfriend. I love the different things you can do with them! nite nite.

RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY...

The weather here is just awful.

I am getting a bit tired of the rain we are having... it has been wet for almost a whole week now, maybe even longer... I have had to use the darn clothes dryer even!

And I hate having to use that thing... it costs so much to run... grrrrr.

Today: well Stew is having a sleep in, the kids are happily playing with Lego on the dining room table, and I am doing friggin housework. Yaaaa.
Probably later on in the morning we will go out to a mall ... just to get out of the house for a while. I am sure I will find SOMETHING interesting to blabber on about later .... so...

... the sun has come out (probably won't last long) and Stew is finally outta bed... we are going out for lunch... think Albany Mall today.. which is on the North Shore (Auckland)... I hope to stop in at Milford too... there's a Stamp Shop there I want to visit. (if it's open)

Back from our outing... went to Milford, got my stamps... then we almost decided to stay in Milford for lunch.... but then decided we would rather go to Albany Mall as planned.

Funny how you are MEANT to be in the right place at the right time eh? We walked into the Mall and the first thing I saw was an AMAZING painting on the wall of a shop we had to pass.... and it just drew me to it... I fell in love... looked at the price and felt like crying.

It was really EXPENSIVE... so sadly I walked away... but on a whim I thought I would show Stew ... and he bought it! Awwww what a man!!!

I would show you all it... but it was too big to get in Stew's car... so I shall have to wait until my Highlander is back home before I can pick it up and bring it home.

IT'S GORGEOUS.... I can't believe my luck.. that shop has NEVER had one like it before... and it's MINE!

WOMBAT: yes, the cards are a Thank You to Sue's helpers, who are doing a Walk For Breast Cancer.

End of Day: and it's been a neat day, I have almost finished the dozen Thank You cards.. moving on to a couple of other orders now... nite nite.

THANK YOU CARDS....

I have an order for a dozen 'Thank You' cards from a certain lady in the States... so today I'm going shopping for a 'Thank You' embossing folder for my Cuttlebug... then I can get into making them.

I need a change from making the 'Kiwi Cards'.... I'm looking forward to making something a bit different. I also have to make some 'Baby' Cards for a girlfriend down in Palmy too.... What fun!

Stew and Griffin are quite excited today... they have scored some free tickets to watch a rugby game here in Auckland this afternoon! Auckland Vs. Waikato... Stew is an avid Waikato fan/rugby fan... and Griffin loves it too... so they can do the 'boy thing' ...and us girls will go shopping! *smiles*.. I am sure Brylee will love some time with just me!

ONWARD...

It's a totally MISERABLE, WET day. Stew went out and bought the kids raincoats, it's that horrible. He's gone to the rugby with Griffin now... and while I WAS going to head out shopping, it's just too ikkkk to bother!

I am going to make some special cards... and Brylee is in 7th heaven watching her 'girly' programmes on the telly!

End of Day: wow my first post with NO PHOTOS in simply ages... feels weird.... but I just didn't have anything to show ya all! I've made 1/2 my order of 'Thank You' cards tonight... they are looking so cute! I will take a photo of them tomorrow.... nite nite.

DEFORESTATION

NO... not that sort of Deforestation... my sort!
I shaved me legs... (and a few other places)... the other night. I am SURE I lost a kilo! I hadn't shaved me legs since summer! OMG, I was tempted to get the tape measure and see just how long the hair on me legs was! I'm sure I could plait it.... well OK, maybe not, but you get the drift!

I'm sure Stew is ever so pleased not having to sleep next to a wooly woman anymore! LOL

Today: Hospice Shop... looking forward to it too. Time to get out and talk with other adult humans.

Kids are due home shortly, and I need to get some lunch! ....

End of Day: and Stew came home with chips, I made some dip ... so it was a nice way to end the week... I even had some of my 'tipple'... and made 9 more cards while watching tv. It's now 11.11pm, time to go nite nite.

Today: as long as the bloody internet behaves, I am dedicating my day to reading and catching up on all the blogs I have been neglecting over this week! Have ya missed me?

I love reading and commenting, just finding time is the problem at the moment! As soon as my SON comes and fixed my computer 'security' I will get a new laptop and then I can sit in comfort in me lounge chair in the evenings and read/comment to my heart's content. I HATE sitting at my PC cos it's in a doorway and I freeze me buns off if I sit there too long! And it's not comfy!

So, that's my plan for today.

Griffin's school class is going on a day outing to the Waitakere Ranges, it is on tomorrow, the day he is usually at his SPELD lesson. So he's going to Speld today... which means I get to go to Pukekohe to have a look-see what else is out there. Yaaaa.

MUCH BIGGER THAN I THOUGHT...

ABOVE: this is the start of the first block in 'Noah's Ark' and I'm already thinking... it's going to be huge? And maybe I will make it a bit smaller? Not sure yet... it is a bit daunting seeing just how much I have to do... and will I be able to do it?

Today I HAVE TO go grocery shopping! Unless we are to starve... I think I must! *sigh*... and I hate.. hate... hate grocery shopping! Maybe if I do a bit of 'retail therapy' first I will feel better? LOL....

ONWARD... Where do I start? Hmmm... took my gorgeous Toyota Highlander into the Panel Beaters this morning, and they gave me this to use in the meantime:

It's a Nissan something or other... the only redeeming feature is that's it's BLUE... otherwise it's ummmm.... crappy. But, it will get me from 'A' to 'B' I suppose... just not very fast or comfortably!

I did the grocery shopping, Stew.. hold your breath, it was EXPENSIVE...!

When I got home... OOOOHHHH (CLAPPING MY HANDS) !!! Parcels from England AND America!!!!

NEXT was two parcels containing the fabric I had ordered from the USA... talk about FAST DELIVERY!!!

Gawd, who needs to go shopping out in the mall when it can come to your door! I am so wrapt ! LOL... I know, I'm quite easy to please eh?

so... I unpack all the groceries... well all the frozen and fridge stuff anyway... and think... shit I'm hungry! And make myself a sandwich and sit down to enjoy it in front of the TV and I glance at the clock... bugger me! It's 10 to 3 and I have to go and pick up the kids as it's raining... NO WONDER I was hungry!

After 'lunch' I was hit with the "blah's" Just had no energy at all. Have not even thought about dinner for the family yet and it's 5.44pm! YIKES.... better pull finger and get on to it eh?

End of Day: almost forgot to do this last bit! Made 4 cards tonight with the new shell fabric... will show ya tomorrow. It's 11pm, time for this Tart to hit the sack. nite nite.

PATCHWORK TODAY...

Today at Patchwork Class I am finally going to make a start on my 'Noah's Ark' baby quilt. I have someone in mind for this quilt... but right now it's still a 'SECRET' .... just a couple more weeks and I will be able to tell you who!

While I really love making the cards, it will be nice to do some 'real' sewing .... lol!

ONWARD... well I'm back from Patchwork... I spent the entire time cutting out just the Rhino/Hippo/Parrot/Butterfly block pieces! This quilt is going to take AGES to complete!

Tis lunchtime... off to get something to eat...

YIKES ... where has the day gone? I have been busy doing housework, card making, getting dinner on (casseroled lamb chops in a thick mint sauce)... and now.... almost time to put the veges on too.

Seriously, I am just not finding time to read blogs right now... forgive me and I hope to be able to get back into the swing of it soon. There is just not enough hours in the day for me right now.. I am totally focused on getting the Whitianga order done, and now I also want to work on the baby's quilt too. *sigh*

End of Day: and I'm tired but sooooo happy! I have finished the first 100 cards for the Whitianga Order... only 150 to go! AND I am still loving it... which is saying something cos I usually get bored doing the same thing over and over again... but as each card is original and not a copy of any other.. it's fun, and that's what life is all about. Living, loving and having fun... and doing no harm to anyone else in the process! lol

A NEW MONTH!

How the hell did it get to be August already? This year is flying by.....

And today... don't know what our plans are.

It's supposed to piss down with rain for the next 4-5 days... oh Yaaaa!

I think today will be a 'housework' day.... get the washing done, vacuming, yadda, yadda....

How boring!

I really don't have anything else so far... so I'll bugger off and do that housework while Stew has a sleep in... his turn an all!

As forecast, the weather has packed it in and it's actually cold and wet today... first time I've felt really cold outside ... we popped out as I needed more envelopes for the cards, and I found a new border punch:

ABOVE: the border punch .. I bought it for the dots! I use little dots A LOT in my cards... we were given a free bacon sandwich outside The Warehouse Stationery shop from a Radio Station having a promotion, which was really nice. FREE too!

HOME NOW and Stew is busy being Mum in the kitchen, he's making us toasted sandwiches for lunch... mine are coming first. yaaaa....

I just had a 'nana nap'... and feel like crap now! All foggy in the brain. And don't ya have WEIRD dreams in the middle of the day? lol

End of Day, and it's almost 11pm... my bedtime. I've made 6 cards tonight, so I am pleased about that. I aim for a minimum of 5 per day... to get my order filled and off my mind! nite nite.
