NOT A HOLIDAY TODAY

Tomorrow is a public holiday here in New Zealand.

Today is not.  Most people will go back to work 'n' school.

But a lot won't too.

Stew is one of those who's decided to take today off, giving him a 4 day break.

That is why Mike and Joyce are still here too.

ABOVE:  Legs.

I suppose there is no guessing which is mine.

ABOVE: Marley loves Lily, until she is screaming.

Then, she's not so sure about that noisy little thing. 😂😊

ABOVE:  Bex has started using her 'Stay Open' Bag as a baby bag again!  She's only had it for 11 years.  She still swears it's the best baby bag to use.

And that reminded me how good they are, so I'm going to make a few for market in the next couple of weeks.

It will be interesting to see how they go on my stall.

Mini rant:

When you can't say anything to a Narcissist because they cannot see it in themselves, and will only ever deny it :

I have to laugh when someone says they don't read this blog... yet they know FAR TOO MUCH !

I think walking away is my best option, leave the haters to hate.  They are only poisoning themselves.

I'm HAPPY.  And you can't take that away from me.

 CATCH YA LATER...

ABOVE:  You asked, I replied.  Here is a Stay Open Bag.

ABOVE: Right.  For anyone interested in making their own bag, you can find the pattern on this blog by:
Clicking on that search box when you are on my Blog Page.

Type in 'CUTE BAG PATTERN', and it will take you to the post dated Saturday October 23, 2010.
Scroll down, the pattern is there.

It's 'correct name' is Stay Open Bag, but I refer to it as a Cute Bag.

ABOVE: We  have been out doing some shopping.  Mike and Joyce ordered a Chiefs shirt for Stew, it's a yearly tradition now.
We also got a few other bits 'n' bobs.

ABOVE: I found some new Wasgij puzzles as well.
Something to do in the evenings again, while watching the telly.

It's another beautiful day out there, so swimming will probably happen after lunch goes down.  edit: we didn't. We were all just too lazy and wanted to do bugger all.

The plumber is away until Wednesday night, so we MIGHT see him on Thursday.  Grrrrr.

6 pm:  We all had a very quiet, relaxed afternoon.  Joyce did our washing and hung it all out, she's bloody handy to have around I must say.
I will miss them when they go home tomorrow.

I've got chicken in the oven for dinner tonight, we are actually going to have hot veges for the first time in MONTHS!
After dinner I expect we will just blob out again.
It's too hot to do much else.  A swim might happen as well.
And I might start my next jigsaw.

I DUNNO

I've got a few more photos from last night's dinner to share:

ABOVE: Me and my Griffin.

I don't think I've ever sat on his lap before.  He was a bit surprised.

ABOVE: Doesn't Bex look WONDERFUL!  She's lost about 14 kilos since having Lily!  Wish I could lose it that fast.

ABOVE:  Us girls... Me being the oldest, and Lily being the youngest.

I believe in the next few years someone will make me and Stew Great Grandparents!

Imagine THAT!  I don't feel that old, seriously.

Now, back to the day.

What are we doing?

I DUNNO!

I don't feel like having plans today.  Let's just go with the flow.

CATCH YA LATER...

1.25 pm: Well after a couple of wet days, it's back to sunshine and roses.

Mike 'n' Joyce are spending the afternoon with Steve 'n' Bex.

Stew and I went to the Hamilton Gardens for a lovely lunch.

Now we are home and enjoying a quiet afternoon.  Swimming.  Lying in the sun.

A bit later on I will be working in the sewing room.

ABOVE: The girls in the sun... they won't stay there for long, it gets too hot for them.

ABOVE:  Stew enjoying a lovely, quite time in the pool this afternoon.

ABOVE: And then kids arrived, and he was Mr Popular.

I had been in and out of the pool from 12.30 till about 3, it was SO LOVELY.

It's now 7 pm, everyone is eating dinner.
Us 'normal' people had rissoles, spaghetti, cheese and scones.
Steve and Mike are having Asado Short Ribs fan baked in the oven with unsalted butter and eggs.

And after dinner we will all settle down for the evening, the kids will no doubt head home at some point, leaving Stew and I to ourselves till bedtime.

CATCH YA TOMORROW.

LOTS OF THIS 'N' THAT TODAY

Whoop!  Whoop!

Mike and Joyce are arriving today for a 4 day stay.

We expect them after lunch sometime.

Until then... I am hoping Steve comes over and finishes off the walls in the bathroom.  Just some 'titivating' before the bath is put in position.

I can almost FEEL that bath in there!!!!!!

ABOVE:  I bought this cute little sponge for the bathroom yesterday.  It will probably only be 'decoration' 😃😊.

I've been buying a few lovely soaps too.

ABOVE:  I was rummaging in the bottom of the pantry, trying to find pasta, and saw these baby bibs.

I had to smile... cos I've had some of them for well over 20 years!

Just as well I didn't throw them out eh?  lol

Something must have told me to hold on to them...  HELLO LILY!

ABOVE: We always use WATTIES SPAGHETTI.  Until fairly recently, when the quality of their spaghetti went to SHIT.

Super thin, tasteless sauce.  I reckon they have watered it down!

So, I have tried all the alternative types on the market.

And none of them are that good.

So yesterday I had a go at making my own.

Spaghetti pasta, Tomato Puree, Chopped Tomatoes and some cream cheese stirred in.

I must say, it was perfectly lovely, and I might just keep making our own from now on.

Though maybe NOT a huge pot full!  I am gunna have to freeze quite a bit from yesterday.

ABOVE:  And there we have 7 runners laid out, ready for sewing.  I will try and get them done before the end of next week, so I can then turn around and make some bowl cosy's and KIWI Runners.

ABOVE: This is a KIWI Runner.  I made 4 a while ago and they are all gone now.  So I would like to make about 6 more.  They are super easy and quick to make, which is neat.

And that's me for now.

CATCH YA LATER.

10.30 am:  And Steve is here doing 'his thing'.... and my Stew has been out and done his grocery shopping.

All ticking along nicely.

Sent invites out to everyone for dinner... but looks like I should have done that a bit earlier.

We will just have a few here tonight.  Steve and Bex, Mike and Joyce, Griffin and Tash.  Plus the boys and Lily.

So, dinner is planned and sorted.

The bathroom is coming along.  I've got lots of 'touch ups' to do with me paint brush a bit later on.

Then maybe tomorrow the bath will go in!

I have also done quite a bit of strip cutting for the Braid Runners I've got lined up.  I might get more done on them tomorrow or Monday.

ABOVE:  And that's a wrap on the walls.  Finally done, now we can put the bath in place.

ABOVE: WE had HEAPS of wind and rain last night, and again this morning.  It should be over by tomorrow.  But ya, I don't have to water the gardens for a few days.

ABOVE: Look at the red heads!   It's so in the family.
Mike wasn't too sure about holding a teeny tiny baby.

ABOVE: Lots of people and pups to dote on her today.

ABOVE:  And ... the boys took the bath from the garage into the bathroom!

ABOVE:  I was SO EXCITED to see it in place.
And it was IN PLACE for about 2 minutes before the guys realised that the plumber had put the waste pipe IN THE WRONG POSITION.
How the fuck did that happen???

We now have to wait for the plumber to come back and fix the problem.  AGAIN.

I'M GUTTED.  I thought we might have it all finished by tonight.
Now it won't be for several more days.

8.39 pm:  Well... a really lovely evening here!
Everyone expected arrived, we had a lovely dinner and catch up.
Lots of clucking over little Lily, as expected.

ABOVE:  Me and the boys.
And Marley 'n' Beau.

ABOVE:  Beau was tired after a 5 hour long trip up from Palmerston North.

ABOVE:  The Harvey Boys.

ABOVE:  The boys, and Beau.

ABOVE: We had such a lovely dinner.
Roast Chicken, Sausages, Bacon, Potato Wedges, Cucumber and Tomato, Sour Cream etc.
Steve and Mike are on a PROTEIN ONLY diet, so they had Steaks, Bacon, and Halloumi Cheese.
Afterwards, some had Magnum Ice Creams.

ABOVE:  All the dogs were wishful for tid bits.
Didn't happen.
Well, I lie.   Beau got a tiny bit of bacon.  (don't tell Mike!) 😂😅😂

It is now 9 pm, everyone has gone home and all is quiet here.
Mike and Joyce are at Steve 'n' Bex's for a while.
They will be back later on this evening.

Stew and I will probably go to bed in the next hour or so.  It's been a long but very enjoyable day.
Except for the bath incident.  That will get sorted out eventually though, so I'm not going to let it ruin me day.

BATH TIME

I have heaps of stuff I need to do in the sewing room today... we sold quite a few runners on Monday that need to be replaced.  AND bowl cosy's.

But, top of the to do list is vacuuming the house.  It's a tip thanks to Coco.  She keeps bringing in dead leaves and leaving them (munched up), all over the floor. 🐶 🙐🙒🙓🍃

I visited the kids last night, before meeting up with Stew at the pub.

And after a while Miss Lily woke up and had a feed, then Bex said she was going to bath her.

Only, she asked me if I wanted to do it?

What a dumb arse question... OF COURSE I wanted to bath her.

ABOVE: And like most new borns, Lily does not enjoy her bath.  Give her time.  😂😊

ABOVE: I am pretty sure I freaked Bex out when I flipped her darling little baby over in the bath!

Lily LIKED being on her tummy in the bath... for a little while anyway.

It has been MANY, MANY years since I bathed such a tiny baby!  Memories to cherish.

ABOVE:  Isn't she just so beautiful.

Right, enough baby spam, I better get a move on...

CATCH YA LATER...

2.44 pm.
It's A LOT LATER!
Sorry, but seems I can only go..go..go for so long before me batteries die and I'm done.
There was no walk this morning.
There was no vacuuming this morning.
There was bugger all going on this morning in fact.
I was TIRED.

I just went to the supermarket.
Parked PERFECTLY in my lined space.
A woman pulled in beside me, all skew-wiff... WAY to close to my car.
She got out and banged her car door on my car.  She said "Oh Sorry".  Then she got back in her car to get her bag, and then DID IT AGAIN!  I was fucking furious and called her a bad name.
She just walked off.

WHY?  Just WHY do people do that????

Anyway, I came home after grabbing a few items and realised I'd not updated all day long!

So here I am.

And now I'm going into the sewing room to lay out some runners.   Got my steam back....

We have some rain... blessed relief from the heat!  Probably turn into a sauna once the sun comes out again, but oh well.  At least we have the pool to cool off in.

ABOVE:  I spent a couple of hours in the sewing room this afternoon.  I got some work done, even though I really didn't feel like it.

Stew is home now, and we are looking forward to a quiet evening in front of the telly.
Catch ya tomorrow.

LAST COAT OF PAINT TODAY

Another gorgeous day looms ahead.

And I will be stuck inside for the first few hours, doing the second coat of paint in the bathroom.

Once that is done... and the other stuff is put on top of the walls, we can work on getting the ACTUAL BATH put in place.

That is not going to happen until Mike gets here on the weekend, as he is fit and young... so can help Steve do it.

I don't want Stew doing it.  Reasons.  But not going into that right now.

HAPPY 11TH BIRTHDAY LIAM.

GRANDAD AND I HOPE YOU HAVE AN AWESOME DAY.

Our dinner last night was very nice for a 'Bar/Restaurant' type establishment... :

ABOVE:  No, he wasn't being rude being on his phone!  He was checking something out for us. (btw, I had pencilled eyebrows on.)

I think I am going to go with Mel's recommendation, and talk to a lady in Rotorua about getting me eyebrows 'done'.

When something has been on your mind for YEARS, it's probably time to do something about it.

Thank you for all your input on the issue.  I do appreciate it.

ABOVE: We had shared Dumplings as an entrée.  They were very yum.

ABOVE:  A Shredded Chicken pizza to share.  No fries ... didn't need them.

The pizza was very 'standard' for that type of place.  Nothing to write home about.

ABOVE:  I enjoyed two little bottles of wine, all on me own.  I drink it like it's water really.  Goes down fairly fast, then I'm every so slightly pickled!

It's rather enjoyable being slightly pickled. 😂😅😆

It was really nice being out and about on a lovely summer evening.

I don't know why we don't do it more often.

And... back to today.

I want to get on with the painting, and GET.  IT.  OVER.  WITH.  It's NOT fun.  It's messy and tiring.

CATCH YA LATER...

12.49 pm:  Well I've been literally flat out all morning, doing odd jobs around the house.  I also popped out to the mall for a lightbulb for me new Scentsy Burner... got the bulb home and the damn thing still didn't work!

GRRR.

ABOVE:  And then.  Bugger me!  I 'noticed' the on/off switch on the power cord.  Hmmmm.  Switched it to ON. ... and the bloody thing worked.
How blonde can ya be?
I have two other burners.  They both have a button on the base to switch them on.  I'm not USED to having a different on switch.  Just sayin'.
But yeah.  BLONDE moment.
I've not been 'able' to use that burner for weeks!

So as I said, I have been busy with odd jobs all day.  It's now time to stop and have some lunch.

YUSSSS!  All the painting is DONE.  Now it is time to start assembling things.  The walls can have their finishing touches, then the bath can go in.
The the shelves will go up, and I can finally do the titivating.
I hope it will be all done by Tuesday ... 🤞.

It is now 4.40 pm, and I expect Stew home soon.  It's 'pub' night and I am thinking of going with him.

9.26 pm:  Well I did indeed end up at the put with Stew, but not before I spent an hour or so visiting Steve, Bex and kids.
I have a couple of photos to share of darling Lily tomorrow.
For now... it's almost Coronation Street time, so I'm outta here.
Catch ya tomorrow.
