KELTIC FAIR

Today we are off to Coromandel, to have a look around their Annual Keltic Fair.  This fair is a really BIG one, and very popular.

One day I might even attend it as a stall holder. But today, we shall just be shoppers/browsers.

One of my dearest friends lives in Coromandel, so of course we shall visit her as well.  Frieda has been my friend for about 33 years.  I met her when I attended pottery classes, held by her at Fairfield College, here in Hamilton.  She taught me how to pot.

Then she became a very good friend.  So, it will be lovely to catch up with her.

It has been a very long time since we visited Coromandel, I'm looking forward to having a good look around, not just at the fair.

It's now about 7.30 am, and we shall be leaving soon.  There is bound to be masses of traffic, all going to the fair, so we shall take our time and just make a day of it.

While we are out, Steve and Bex will be over here, using the pool and hanging out with the dogs.

Catch ya later.

ABOVE: 8.10 am and we are already half way there. We are on the Thames coast road. Traffic is light, which is a surprise.  It's looking to be a lovely summers day.

ABOVE: I found another  towelie... super cheap. Rather happy about that.

ABOVE: This market is slightly disappointing... lots of cheap stuff. Not that much good quality, arty farty stuff.

We've now wandered through town and stopped for some food.

4.30 pm.  HOME.

After our food stop at morning tea time, we visited my friend, Frieda.

ABOVE: We spent around an hour and half visiting, before leaving for home.

A few photos:

ABOVE: The lookout at the top of the ranges, before heading down towards Coromandel.  Looking back, that is The Firth of Thames.

ABOVE: A very interesting gate in Coromandel township.

ABOVE X's 4:  Long Bay, Coromandel.   We went on a little walk around the bay.  It was just lovely.

ABOVE:  Looking at this photo of me, I can see that my face is fairly swollen on the left hand side (right in the photo).  I have to keep an eye on that, if it gets really bad I have to go to the Dr.
But right now, everything is going great.  I can eat and drink just fine.  The pain is under control.  Excellent.

We have had a really nice day, it was so good to get right out of town and just enjoy being together.

I got a bit car sick on the drive home, that twisty, windy coast road got to me.  I think I'll give it a miss for another few years! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‰

Stew has now gone down to the pub, it is Thursday after all!  I am staying home to just relax for a couple of hours, before maybe joining him.  We'll see.

I didn't go to the pub, I stayed home and did some painting!   One wall in the dining area needed a patch and paint, so I'm working on getting that done by tomorrow.

It's now 8.05 pm, and as soon as I've got that wall painted, I'm off to bed.
Catch ya tomorrow.

  1. You bought a towlie? Didn't you make one?
Maybe I should make one... I think i could actually handle that project? They look rather comfy, warm, and useful!
I LOVE those fish in that picture. Just today, I stumbled across an artist that makes super cute critters (including birds, fish, and whales) out of driftwood and random assorted buts of rusty old hardware... REally cute stuff. Those fish could have been made by her! Exact same style.

  4. We were at Coromandel for the Keltic fair but then Stu’s Dad went to hospital at 2.30am - bugger. Day spent at Thames hospital and he’s fine. Traffic back to Whiti is dreadful!!!!

Looks like you had a lovely day out and had some nice time visiting your friend, too. I was thinking how much Long Bay Coromandel looks so much like Kaneohe Bay where I lived for 5 years back in the mid 80s. So very pretty and tropical and awesome views. Hope your New Years was great - mine was so-so. I really struggled on New Year Day thinking of my late son Mike and was really a bit blue yesterday. My grief comes and goes in waves, some little, some BIG, some REALLY BIG and I know it will take time - there will always, the rest of my life, be little waves of grief and I will heal in time, to a point. Losing Mike was most traumatic grief / pain I've ever had, much worse than losing Dad and then Mom 14 months apart. 2024 saw him go thru 2 surgeries and many doctor appointments and several ER visits but he also had the BEST blood lab results for his diabetes in 10 years!! He was trying so hard since May to buckle down and follow his diabetes diet plan, and take ALL his meds every day and not bite the skin around his fingers (which caused massive infections leading to 2 fingers being amputed in 2024). And then he had non-related illness, suddenly and traumatic, and I lost him 10/17/2024. Thursdays, and weekends hard for me - thursdays as all I can think about is his day he passed - it is 11 weeks today here in Albany, GA. and weekends because that was OUR time to spend together and most of my vacation days.
