IT IS SO HOT!

We go to bed stifling hot, we toss and turn all night...to wake up to another stinking hot day! WHEN is it going to ease up? *sigh*
I may not like being cold, but I don't like being this hot either! Can't win eh? lol

It's monday... kids off to school .... and today I start Patchwork classes again. I am hoping to start work on a new thing today, even though I have not finished the Star Quilt... which is now going to be a Duvet cover! It WILL happen! I will finish it. But not today. I am going to take a variety of materials to class today and get some ideas from the Tutor as to what I can do next. My brain is just BLANK on ideas right now.

ONWARD...

OH class today was just so lovely, we all nattered away ninty miles to the dozen... caught up on all the goss.... IT WAS GREAT! I only did some cutting out this morning .. more little soft toys are what I am working on right now. And after them I am going to try making a baby's cot quilt... fun!

It's another of those cloudy but hot days today... but not unbearably hot ... YET. I'm now off to make something for lunch...

ABOVE: is this what you call 'having your ducks in a row"? lol. I am going to start sewing these ducks later today...

We got rain! OK... it wasn't MUCH, a few drops, but still rain. I am thinking our humidity level will go up to 100% now, that is the killer! Every time you move you break out in a sweat, it's like living in a sauna.

I never thought I'd say this... but I am looking foward to winter.

I've been tidying up the garage, trying to sort out the last of my Mother's crap...(oops, I mean her cast offs). *sigh*

End of Day... and I'm happily sewing duckies. Stifling again tonight.... another 'toss and turn' night in store. neat. nite nite.

  5. As much as I hate being cold, I hate being hot more. I love spring and summer, but the months of July and August are awful. How cold does it get your way in the winter? We've had a brutal winter this year...the coldest I can remember..still better for me than the heat of summer though. Have fun in class today..talk to you soon..xoxo

  7. Being from Texas, a place which has ridiculously hot summers, I understand your frustration! I don't mind cold as much because you can always add more layers but heat - you can't always take stuff off and still be decent!

    Hang in there!

Can't wait to see pictures of your new sewing projects!

  8. You'll have to come to Christchurch Chris. It truly doesn't feel like summner has arrived this year. Cloudy, overcast days seem to be becoming the habit - although the temperatures are just comfortable - around 20 degrees most days - but not too humid, so quite pleasant. I wish we could see some blue sky though - we need the vitamin D input - everyone is so grumpy about the weather! Lol.

Glad you enjoyed your patchwork class.

  9. Hi ya, am home and will get blogging later LOL
Just a thought.....use your heat pump on the cooling cycle!!!!!! We do and it keeps me sane. Don't need it on for long, just cool the house down then turn it off.
Hope you are having a better day today. Thought of you when we were in Whitianga LOL :)

  18. I must be the only person not feeling the heat. Other then yesterday (when I sat outside in the sun without any shade) I have found the weather to be really good, not too hot and not cold. I HATE the cold so am enjoying the lovely warmth but in saying that my house seems perfect as if it starts to feel hot inside I open a french door and front door and a nice breeze comes floating through.

  19. I love your little "ducks in a row"! They are so cute - hurry up and finish them so I can see them completed!!Curiosity is just killing me!
I can surely relate to your pain when it comes to children. I have two wonderful boys who are so good to me and Pops -But my first baby was a little girl . She and I were soo close it was a bond that I never doubted . We laughed and did so much together and it was always good times for us.
Then my world fell apart and she turned on me . I had been keeping my granddaughter most all of the time and I would NEVER believed that she would take my grand daughter away from me -but she did and would not let me see her for years. I was broken hearted. You know how when a piece of your heart it broken and you can never fill it back up. I fell off the edge of the world and would not become too attached to any of my other grandchildren . Not because they did anything wrong at all - just because my heart built walls around it to try to protect myself.

  20. This muggy Auckland heat does my head in! It is odd how it seems to get hotter at night. It is a vicious cycle. I don't sleep well cause it is hot, so am tired and need to got to bed early and it all starts again.

We should catch up before we leave Auckland.

  22. LMAO @ that level of chinwagging - how on earth would you cope? (being the quiet shy type that you are ;-))

Ducks look gorgeous! But why am I not surprised - you are a creative genius!

Hope the weather eases off soon it's high 30's here too and i'm over it but thankfully we're heading towards the end of summer and then before you know it we'll be complaining because it's so bloody cold ... there's just no pleasing us women!

  26. Well Duck me! How come I missed out on all these posts (I've just scanned them all, trying to trace back to what I believe is the first one about these gorgeous wee ducks you've been making. Did you make the pattern up yourself? Or is it a purchased pattern? If you made it up yourself, are you going to sell the pattern when you're fed up of making them??? If so, put my name on the waiting list please duck! lol Sorry mate, couldn't ducking help myself. Hugs and quack quack Naomi
