BATH!

 

It's going to be an AWESOME DAY!

Steve is coming back this afternoon to do the final finishing touches in the bathroom... then I can do the REVEAL.

ABOVE:  Khady enjoying her Christmas chocolates last night.

ABOVE: Having a cluck over little Lily, who was having her normal witching hour (or three) of being cranky in the evening.  

They are so lucky she actually does well overnight.

ABOVE:  Stew's Christmas/Birthday Present from Mike and Joyce.  The latest Chiefs Shirt.  He looks rather fab in it.

Well... once Khady leaves this morning I'm going out to buy some flowers.  I have a space for some more inside. 

The other thing I want to get done today is those 4 runners, all going well.  

It would be nice to have them added to my stash for tomorrows market.

The bathroom reveal will be in about an hour... or less.

ABOVE:  The 'before' photo.

Steve arrived after work this morning, and did all the finishing things in the bathroom.  Silicone around the bath, shelves up, skirting boards back on and so on.

It was stinking hot, I felt a bit guilty about making him work.

HOPEFULLY I don't find any more jobs for him to do for a very long time.

Now, the first photo I took using PANORAMA on my phone, to get the entire bath area in one photo.

So, there's curves where there shouldn't be, let me assure you the bath is not curved across the front and my ceiling is not curved either!  lol

ABOVE: Obviously, the accents were always going to be BLUE. 😂😊

ABOVE:  The perfect holder for the bathplug, a little copper bath.  I've had that little copper bath for about 20 years.

Steve built the little blue 'box' to hold the bath bombs, but I repurposed it for the plug.

The bath bombs and bubble bars ended up in clear plastic containers on the windowsill.

It was an evolving 'titivate',  till I got it all as I wanted it.

ABOVE:  I already had all the ornaments, plants etc.  

That lighthouse was bought from Bellingen in Australia, when I was visiting Mum about 15 years ago.  I can still picture the shop it came from, it was like a converted barn.

Interestingly, I have quite a few things from Bellingen.  Mum passed away in the hospital in Bellingen. 

ABOVE:  I didn't need to buy new flowers today either.  I just plucked some from an existing arrangement that had an abundance of flowers already.  You can't even tell I nicked some out of it. 😂😉

ABOVE:  I knew from the word 'go' that this metal lighthouse would go there.

And that is also why I knew the wood/rustic shelves would work in my bathroom.

You need to have a vision sometimes, and know what will and won't work.

The reason I say that is because of this:

ANON:  Each to their own is all I can say, oh and you are rather RUDE.

I am so very happy it is all done, I have a functioning bath, in the BATHROOM.

It looks wonderful, and it will be a lovely room to have a relaxing soak in on a cold winter evening.

I can't thank our son Steve enough for all he did to get it done for me.  AND to Stew and Mike for their efforts too.

I'd thank the plumber too... but maybe not right now.  lol 

And now it's time for me to get back in the sewing room and finish off those KIWI runners.

ABOVE: one last bathroom photo...this one shows the panelling Steve and I did, which I am really proud of.  It looks so neat!

I forgot to mention... I did not have my first bath this morning.

Two reasons.

1.  I wanted to have my first bath when the bathroom was totally finished.

2. I have to wait for the silicone around the bath's edges to cure.

So, my first bath will be tomorrow night, after we have spent the day at market.

9.38 pm: And it's time to head off to bed.  We have an early start in the morning.

Last night Steve stopped into our house to install the bath.

I didn't know he was going to do that.  He waited until I wasn't home, sneaky boy.

Obviously, he was hoping to surprise me with the bath installed when I got home.

SADLY... he arrived back at his house all hot and bothered, and very, very angry.

ABOVE:  Look at that.  The waste pipe is still not in the correct position.  It has to be EXACTLY lined up for the seal to work.

And clearly it does not.  

I would not like to be the plumber when Steve talks to him this morning!   Steve has a 'bit' of a temper on him. 

It will get sorted eventually, but I'm sad that it's made Steve so annoyed, and wasted so much of his time.

I am off on a walk this morning, just around the mall today.  If it gets too hot I can go inside and do laps.

7.38 am:  and I'm home from me walk.  It was another perfect walking morning... overcast and coolish.  

ABOVE:  I went around the mall just over 4 times today.  I didn't feel up to 5 times because yesterday I had a fall and I'm a bit achy today.

Only I can trip UP stairs !  I did in the underside of me right foot, me left knee, right shin, shoulder and back.  So you could say I did a good job of it.  But I'm fine, I'm going to take it easy today and just potter around.

Not even sure if I'll do any sewing.

2.57 pm:  Clearly I've been missing in action for a big chunk of the day!

I had brunch.

Then I did some of my jigsaw.

And now I'm in the sewing room, laying out 4 runners.

With KIWIS.  But a much simpler version, not like the Wave one, which was labor intensive.

ABOVE:  And there are four KIWI runners, ready for more work done on them tomorrow.

I will need to pop into Spotlight for some backing fabric before I can finish them.

I'm really happy with them so far. Two square ended and two rounded.  

We are expecting Stew's sister, Khady, later on this evening.  She's enroute to Wanganui from Auckland, and is staying here tonight to break up her journey.  

Steve, Bex and kids called in to say 'Hi' to Khady.  

While he was here, Steve decided to sort out the bath.  

ABOVE:  Look at that!  It fits.

ABOVE:  Fitting the pipes up and then he ran the bath... with the plug in.  

It was so neat to see it actually working.

Tomorrow morning I am going to have a TEPID BUBBLE BATH!  😂😃😉

ABOVE:  An after dinner swim, it was wonderful apparently. 

It's now wind down time, the kids have gone home and we are just sitting here yakking with Khady till bedtime.

SLEEPING IN

 So...I'm still in bed.

Here I am.  Better late than never I suppose.

There was no urge to get out of bed this morning.  I felt blah.

But now that I'm up, and done a few jobs... I'm feeling much better.

ABOVE: Today's gathering.  Our beautiful little 'Cherry Blossom Tree' has produced a really big haul of Peaches this season.  Such a good little tree.  For a Cherry Blossom.

And we are still getting a few tomatoes, and they are just delicious.

ABOVE:  My jig saw is coming along nicely.  I only do it after dinner.  

ABOVE: I had the pieces all ready for stitching for a Stay Open Bag, but kept putting it off.  I know why now.

I bloody well hate making them!

So I'm simply NOT going to.  I will turn these pieces into a runner!  Waste not and all that shit.

ABOVE:  Lunch.

And that's me for now.  I am going to finish my morning jobs, then head into the sewing room.

ABOVE:   Oi!  You cheeky little tart Joyce!  YES we did ascertain it was a PEACH at the end of the day. (how derr of us to not actually read the label at the time)

It was a very happy accident buying a PEACH tree instead of a Cherry Blossom.

ABOVE:  And NOW I remember why I've not done many 'Wave' runners lately!

It takes forever to join all the pieces together with a tight satin stitch!

Two hours in and I'm just over half way ...

ABOVE:  Wow that turned out better than I expected.  I love the KIWI on the end.

I'm now done in the sewing room for the day.

I'm off to have some lunch and then a swim.

ANON:  The round end runner was incredibly easy to do!  I didn't bind the edges like 'normal' either.  If I'd tried to bind it, it would have been a right bitch! lol

So Stew went to the pub this evening, and I visited the kids then picked Stew up and we came home.

It's now wind down time, we'll watch some telly, I'll work on me jig saw and then it will be bedtime.

I am so thankful I put comment moderation back on! 

I THINK I KNOW WHY so many PEOPLE don't like ME.

I'm opinionated.

I'm a strong personality.

I call a spade a spade.

I have a fat gob. I can be too much for some people.

I'm pushy, and want things my way most of the time.

I swear too much.

Black is black.  White is white.  What's grey?

I don't have to be right all the time, but I think I usually am.  If I am wrong, I can accept that though.

I don't tolerate idiots too well.  Some people are fucking idiots.

I'm not a fool, and won't tolerate anyone treating me like a fool.  

I cannot stand people lying to me, particularly when I know they are lying.

ABOVE: Some people HAVE TO keep me at bay, because they have built their lives like a stack of cards. 

I know FAR TOO MUCH, most of which they don't even realise.

That must be scary.

ABOVE:  YEP.  There are people out there who just can't help doing that.  And sadly, it happens far too often.

MOVING... ON...

I'm off for a walk early this morning.  Getting back into my usual routine.

Stew is back at work today.

When I get home I will head into the sewing room and do some work.

RHONDA:  I will be visiting a 'proper' butcher this morning to see if I can get some liver and kidneys for Stew.

10.27 am:  And today's walk was in Cambridge with the FBG's.

It was so neat to be back there, chatting away the entire walk with my friends.

I am now determined to get over there at least once a week.

The company is always lovely.

ABOVE:  I didn't even notice this was a long, slow incline.

ABOVE: It was a very overcast, hazy, misty morning.  Just perfect walking weather for me.

ABOVE: One of the things I do enjoy after an FBG walk is the yakking at a cafe. 

ABOVE: Today's walk stats.   Slower than my usual pace, but still very enjoyable.

Once I left the girls, I went into Cambridge town centre, as there is a really good butchery there.

And they open at 7am, so I didn't have to hang around waiting for them to open.

As luck would have it, Wednesday is the only day they have offal in the shop!

So I grabbed...

ABOVE: A good supply of Beef kidneys and liver.

That should keep Stew going for a while.  Thankfully they are cheap as chips.

ABOVE:  Don't ever wonder why a decent steak in a restaurant is so expensive!  That's why.

And that's me for now.  I'm getting cold just sitting here, so might just get moving.

2.02 pm:  Well I didn't move much.  I had some lunch then have been working on my jig saw!  Weirdly, I don't feel like sewing again today.

Oh well, I don't NEED to add to my stash at the moment anyway.

What am I saying?  I do need to make more Kiwiana runners!  Grrrr.  Maybe later.

The plumber is coming back in an hour.  I am like... how do I not say anything 'scathing' to him?  

I want to call him a fuckwit.  

But better not I suppose.

I.  WAS.  NICE.  I said it was just one of those things we all do sometimes (silly mistakes), and he fixed it within half an hour.  

ABOVE:  It was just a rejig of the piping to line up with the bath's plughole. 

Now I reckon Steve and I can drop the bath on top of the pipes and it should be good to go.

It became a stinker of a hot day once all the cloud burnt off.  It's now 6.33 pm, Stew is home and I'm done for the day.

Today Mike and Joyce head home to Palmerston North.   It's a lovely day for travelling, unlike when then came up, which was quite wet and stormy.

Hopefully they get to see the dusting of snow on the central mountains.

Once they leave, I will head into the sewing room to make a start on stitching this:

ABOVE:  It's going to be a 'Wave' Stay Open Bag'.  I decided to go ahead and try and get a couple made for the next market.

Which is going to be this Sunday.  We are going back to the Cambridge Trash 'n' Treasure Market, because we only have the Tamahere Market on the calendar until October.  I'd like to add at least one other... so let's try the Cambridge one.

I am now off for a walk, really early so I beat the heat.

Mike and I got up very early this morning, and off we went TO THE LAKE for a walk.

It was a wonderful time to go, the sun was only just coming up, there was a heavy dew and even some low mist across the fields.

PERFECT walking weather.

ABOVE:  Mike was really happy to see the Hamilton Balloon going up.  In fact there were quite a few balloons up this morning.

Perfect weather for them today with no wind.

ABOVE:  I was surprised to see some baby Coots this morning.  I thought it was too late in the season for baby birds now.

ABOVE:  Sunrise!  And the end of our walk.

ABOVE:  Today's stats.  A bit slower than I have done in the past, but I am still happy with my time.

ABOVE:  A cute moment with Beau, and Marley looking less than impressed.

We are going out a bit later on to find Mike some new sunglasses for the drive home.

When we finished our walk this morning, he put his sunglasses on the roof of my car when he took the photo of me, and then forgot they were there and yep, you guessed it.  Lost his glasses.

I might even get some for myself as I squint something shocking in the sun too.

Having light blue eyes may be nice, but they are very light sensitive.

ABOVE:  We both found sunglasses, and for damn good prices too.  Mine were only $60, which is half what I thought I'd spend.  SCORE.

ABOVE:  sleeping little doll.

5 pm:  And all is quiet here again.

It's been a really neat few days with the kids visiting.

Back to normal tomorrow.

Stew's been out to virtually every supermarket on our side of the river, looking for liver and kidney.

NO LUCK.  Seems you have to be at the supermarket first thing in the morning to get any.

He's a bit anaemic, so is trying to up his iron heavy meats, so he doesn't have to take iron pills.

10.40 pm:  I've been working on my jig saw for the past couple of hours, and I'm now seeing double.  Time to call it a day.
