BABIES & THIN LIZZY BRA

Well ... we had Keera overnight, so I took the chance to grab a few photos before she went to bed:

 ABOVE:  *FLASH* went the camera.
Dante: "shit what was that?"
Keera: "I poke my tongue at you Uncle Steve".

ABOVE:  *FLASH* went the camera.
Dante:  "shit what was that again?"
Keera: "I still poke my tongue at you Uncle Steve".

ABOVE: *FLASH* went the camera.
Dante: "Are you getting my good side?"
Keera: "Oh you are so funny Uncle Steve"
Me: "Look at Grandma Keera!".

ABOVE:  Bloody hell!  Now I've got both babies looking at me, and Coco decides it's time to butt in ...
ABOVE:  *FLASH* went the camera.  Now NO ONE is looking at me.... I am ready to give up...

ABOVE:  *FLASH* went the camera.... and I caught this cheeky face on Keera...and Dante, well he has had enough of that damn flashing thing!  And Stew?   He said:  "Get these kids off me, I'm roasting hot!"

So I did.

The BRA.  It's a Thin Lizzy one.  I was a bit dubious about how comfy it would be.  But after two days I can say it's damn lovely to wear!  I really, really like it.
So, I will buy a couple more at least.
I would show you them in situ, but this is not an 'R' rated blog... so maybe not.

Steve, Bex and Dante are off to Hamilton today. They are meeting up with family as today is Bex's Dad's Birthday. He would have been 50 today.  I'm sure today will be a little hard for Bex.

It's still so recent her Dad's passing.  She struggles with that, as one would expect.   She's had a lot happen over the past few months.  At least her family and most of her NEW family (us) have been there for her.   Losing a parent is one of the hardest knocks a person can take in life.  We expect it to happen EVENTUALLY, but not when your parent is still so young.

I hope the day goes well for them and they have a lovely time with family and friends.

Moving on...Once Keera has gone home I think Stew and I will go back to bed!  Keera kept waking up, almost hourly during the night.  NOT impressed.  I hope Lacy comes and gets her real soon!

Thankfully, Lacy arrived nice and early.  Now I'm not so sure about going back to bed!  It's such a lovely day, I'm going to fling all the doors open.

It's DAY 59!  Weigh in tomorrow at lunchtime!  Wow it's going fast.  And I can see and feel a difference in the body now too!  Exciting...

ONWARD...

ABOVE:  a little video of Dante laughing yesterday.

Would you believe we have done NOTHING today?  Just relaxed and enjoyed doing nothing!
Not too often we do that I must say.  But, after being up and down all night with Keera, it's what Stew and I needed.

Stew has a leg of lamb due to go in the oven for dinner, looking forward to that.

I just took a new set of photos for tomorrow's comparison shots.  Stew reckons he can see a difference.  Me?  Maybe just a little?  You can see them tomorrow and tell me what YOU think... ?

Steve, Bexs and Dante are due home soon, just in time for dinner.  I hope they've had a good day.

Watching Masterchef on the telly... OMG I just saw jellybeans.  *drool*... I love jellybeans.  I am gunna have to have me something sweet soon... I've got major cravings going on. I've resisted EVERYTHING sweet for 59 days except fruit!  That is quite amazing to me.

End of Day: a really decadent, lazy day.
nite nite.

LET ME LICK YOUR TOES!

Teddy loves licking ya feet.
Our Dante was not omitted in Ted's desire for smelly feet:

ABOVE: Dante was a bit confused!  I don't think he had much idea what was happening to his toes... *smiles*
A quick wash and you would never know we let Teddy lick his toes!
I called it 'BONDING'.  Teddy only licks our family member's toes.

TRACY: re your question about the bra and how it holds ya boobies:  well I've only had it on for one day, and I must say it seems to hold things together, though one's boobs do tend to still 'droop'.  Might look at making the shoulder straps shorter by sewing them up.  There is no adjustment thingees so sewing is the only option.  I'm hoping this bra will do me for about 6 months?  Then I can get nicer ones in a more modest size!

I have no idea what plans we might have for today.  So...

ONWARD...

We are going out.  There is an outlet shop out near the airport... TS14+ !  I didn't know it was there, so we are going to check it out.  Then we might just tottle over to St Lukes for lunch.

Well... that shop was rather good.  Might have to visit again in the near future... when I've got more time to have a good look.

St Lukes ... always busy there!  We 'did' the shops, had a nice lunch then came home.  I took my own lunch with me.  Yogurt and muesli, it was darn nice too.  Stew got me a container of fruit salad to go with it, but it was easily 60% apple, so not impressed with it at all.

Home and time to put one's feet up.  My left heel is giving me utter shit right now... I've had this problem before.  I think it could be Plantar Fasciitis, or something similar.  If it gets any worse I might trot off to the Drs.

ABOVE:  Keera has come to stay for the night.  Steve was having fun with her hair.

End of Day:  a lovely day.  Starting to get cooler, thank goodness!

A VISITOR, ONIONS, & NEO2

VISITOR:
Last night, just on dusk, we got a visitor.  He made our two dogs go MENTAL!  Teddy and Coco yowled and howled and whimpered and we had no idea what they were going on about!

Until Stew went down to the front door to see what they were agitated about:

ABOVE:  well would ya look at that?  We have a larger version of our two... right at the front door.  He (well, it looked like a he) just wandered around our driveway, wagged his tail at Ted and Coco... and seemed friendly.  But I wasn't letting our two come face to face with him, just in case someone decided to be not friendly!  More likely to be our Teddy than the other dog.

ABOVE:  Stew and I went out, and Stew got sniffed at.  Then Stew looked at his tag and found he lived just opposite us.

ABOVE: So, Stew walked him home.  The owners didn't even know he had left home.  Oh well... no damage done.  Their dog seemed to be a bit older than our two... and way bigger!  I'm sure he was a Shih Tzu.

ONIONS:
Yes I know!  Onions.  Dehydrated onions to be precise.  I've not had any for years and years.  Couldn't find a shop that sold it ... so I finally got crabby and rung around.  Found a bloke in Christchurch who put me onto a place here in Auckland.  They HAVE dehydrated onions... and I'm going there this morning to get me some.
I love dehydrated onions!  No more tears.  No more storage issues.  No more rotten onions.

ABOVE:  that's what they look like.  I did for a moment think of doing my own, but hell... that would mean peeling and chopping them myself, and that would defeat the purpose of why I want to BUY dehydrated onions eh?  lol

NEO2:
Griffin used a computer last year to type out his stories etc, and then printed them off.  Yesterday he came home and said the school had bought him one of these:

ABOVE: It's a learning aide for kids like Griffin... and I am just so thrilled to bits that the school have done this for him.
For sure it would not have happened if he'd been in the other class, with Mr 'X' as his teacher.
I must let the school know how thrilled I am that they have taken this step to help Griffin.

The NEO2 enables him to type out his work, see it, correct mistakes, then he just plugs it into the class computer and prints it out.  Awesome. I am now thinking of getting him one for at home too.  Probably should have got one years ago me thinks. *sigh*

Right... off to start the day... go out and about... got to buy onions and maybe some more colourful tights!

ONWARD...

Found the shop first thing this morning, and bought the dehydrated onions:

ABOVE:  the man had 7 bags on the shelf, so I left him with 1... cos I'm nice like that.  lol

ABOVE:  after buying the onions, we went over to Botany Mall... which was just up the road.  Farmers were having a sale (who isn't now days?) and we got some more clothes for Dante.  He's growing so fast!

Now that we are home, I think we have to watch Home and Away before thinking of anything else... like sewing.

THE PINK BRA.  Is mine.  Funny girls!  I wanted to try an Ahh Bra!  Hell... I could fit Dante in one boob!  Sorta.
I've got it on right now, and it's quite nice I must say.

I just had a nap.  As much as one can with Brylee and Griffin home.  They tried to be quiet, but for them that is almost impossible.  So I just lay on the couch and relaxed with me dogs.
At least they were quiet.

The dried onions... well I just chuck them in when I'm making a stew or whatever.  They need to be added to something that has a good amount of water to rehydrate them.  As for quantities?  Hell I just grab a handful or two... I ain't one to measure shit.

Oh and cos I spent over $50 in Farmers, they gave me that picture frame.  That will end up as a gift for someone this coming Christmas.

End of Day:  well the end of another week... and I for one am happy about that.  I get to sleep in I hope.  Daylight saving ends this weekend too... so it is clearly the end of summer... just wish it was still not that hot outside!
nite nite.

OPINIONS ON QUILT SASHING... AND ANOTHER LITTLE BAG

Yesterday I was advised that my quilt blocks needed sashings... so I tried a couple of possibilities:

ABOVE:  I am not sure about either fabric!  I don't want a sashing that is too busy in itself, and I'm not that sure about the dark navy either.  What do you think?
(yes, I just saw that the flag block is upside down, but they are only pinned there so it's not a problem).

ABOVE:  I am thrilled to bits with the 'rope' stitch on my sewing machine.

ABOVE: this is the little drawstring bag I made last night.  They are just so quick to sew up!

TODAY?  We have to wait for a person from Carpet Court to come and fit the carpet down where it meets the wood laminate in the hallway, then the 'Flood Damage' will be totally completed.

After that I have to go over to Sylvia Park to pay a bill... and my phone is playing up, so I want to pop into Telecom and get it sussed out.

By then it will no doubt be time to head home for lunch.

I was watching a TV programme last night (My Kitchen Rules) and I was literally drooling over the desserts.  So I think this Saturday I will indulge me sweet tooth as my 'day off meal'.
There is only so much fresh fruit I can eat before I really, really need a sweet treat.  I feel I have done really well not having any in 56 days!  Wow... 2nd weigh in is next Monday!

After my NEXT 30 days I hope I get a form in the mail for me to go and have my three monthly blood tests!  I am so hoping all my 'levels' will have dropped!  I want to see a vast improvement with my
hb1ac, Cholesterol, Blood Pressure AND Weight!  Well if nothing else, I'm sure my weight will please the Doctor!

Not that my weight is good right now, but I am trying my best to shift it slowly but surely.  Can't do more than that can I?

And can you believe I am actually LOOKING FORWARD to a blood test!!!

ONWARD...

PINKY: The little drawstring bags cost around $15 to make.  If I was doing it for a slight profit, I would sell them for $20.

Mr Carpet Court man has a flat battery, so won't be here until this afternoon now.  That's just fine by me!  I can go out and do a couple of jobs now.

OH... it's been raining!  I hope it keeps up for a few days.  The farmers need a steady downpour for at least a week... but according to Jim Hickey (Weather Man on TV)... we won't be getting that much.  Shame.

All done, home again.
We bought an 'Extended Warranty' with my phone 13 months ago, so I now have to wait for a response from Nokia as to what they are going to do about me faulty phone.

Usually Telecom does not provide you with a replacement phone when it is not one of their phones that is faulty, or if the phone is out of it's 1 year warranty (which they would cover) ...  that's something they did not tell us when we bought the extended warranty!
But... they gave me one anyway.

So, I've got this other phone and I have no idea how it works.  DOH.  Sad face.

ABOVE: sitting waiting for  all the paperwork to be done... it took ages.

Went to the grocery shop too... got more yoghurt... with Griffin and I now eating it,  it doesn't last long.

DONUTS!  OMG Pak 'n' Save's donuts ... I had to stop and drool...

ABOVE:  their donuts are the best I have found ANYWHERE in Auckland!  And I didn't get one... or two...

ABOVE:  I will just look at me new blue tights... cos they make me smile.

CHRISTY:  if you look at the 'base' fabric you will see it has shelves that the things sit or or hang off.  So, the white bits are the shelves.  I have called this quilt 'ON THE SHELF' for lack of a better name!

**SNORT** ! ! !  "skinny legs" ???  They are not... it's an optical illusion I'm sure.

Eddie is here fixing the carpet down, it's only a 10 minute job so he's happy.
Once he's left I will make a start on dinner... just a humble mince stew and veges tonight.
There was a day when I'd make pies for everyone, but not any more.

PIES and me are not FRIENDS now.  And donuts.  Definitely not friends with donuts.  I could write a list a mile long of things I am going to avoid, or to only have as a rare treat.

I just spent over an hour on the phone... and have found something I've been looking for for over 6 years!!!  Gunna go buy some tomorrow.

End of Day:  gotta go cut Steve's hair... he's looking a bit fluffy.

YA HOO, KIDS ARE BACK AT SCHOOL

Today I can finally give the entire new flooring a wash.  Weird... looking forward to washing a floor?  Yeah, I thought so too.

Last night's dinner:

ABOVE: Angus Beef patties, wrapped in bacon... sitting on top of a potatoe patty... with cheese, lettuce and tomatoe.  So, much like a Burger, but without the bread buns.
They seemed to go down well with the family, so that was good.

The only thing I was a bit disappointed with was the beef patties dried out quite a lot in the oven.
Not sure how to stop that from happening again.  Anyone got any ideas?

Just before I was ready to go to bed last night, Dante woke up.  And he was so cute I took a few photos:

ABOVE: Just awake, and all cute and cuddly.

ABOVE: then we started getting his 'deer in the headlights' look!  So funny, Bex and I kept cracking up!

ABOVE: this kid just makes me melt.  He's so adorable.

So today once the kids are at school I will wash the floors, then do some more sewing I think.  Most of the housework got done yesterday.  It was an excellent idea to get the kids to really help a bit more.

I kept thinking they were not that good at doing jobs, so it was easier to just do it myself.  But after yesterday, I am going to 'delegate' more to them.  It won't hurt them... it will teach them that houses do not keep clean on their own, and if we all work together, it makes it a better, nicer home for everyone.

ONWARD...

ABOVE:  I got this magnetic chart to use for the kids.  We are going to be using it to try and change their ATTITUDES.  Three strikes in one day will = early to bed.  5 days in a row without 3 strikes and you get an extra hour on the XBox on a Saturday or Sunday.

The 'target' behaviours we want to change:

BRYLEE:  stroppy attitude, answering back, stomping out of the room huffing and puffing, rolling her eyes at us, standing and waving her arms around while saying she can't change her 'habit' of having a disrespectful attitude.  And anything else we deem to be disrespectful towards an adult.

GRIFFIN:  packing a shitty mood when he doesn't get his own way, arguing with anyone, and always telling Brylee to shut up.

I will be starting the chart this afternoon when they get home.  No time like the present.

ABOVE: these are the blocks I have finished so far!  I'm kinda wondering now if I need to put a sashing around each block?  Hmmm....

LUNCH TIME.  Gunna sit down and have yoghurt and cereal while watching last night's Home And Away...

MARY H:  I don't quite get what you mean?

MRS F with 4: You do realise that I have already raised 6 kids... so have had multitudes of bloody teenagers at home at the same time eh?  That is why I am dreading Brylee and Griffin's teenage years!  Kill. Me. Now.

I am taking a break from the blocks for the rest of the day.  I want to make another little bag for Christmas.  Once I have all the bags made for the Grandkids I can concentrate on filling them with goodies.
My aim is to have them all done by no later than September.  Then I can relax knowing I've got them all sorted.

Kids arrived home from school.  I talked them through the 'Attitude' Chart.  They both laughed at me.
Let's see who's laughing in a week!

MRS F: do you have a blog that I can read?

So, I have almost finished a little drawstring bag already!  They only take an hour or so.  Then I'm going to play around with the ON THE SHELF Blocks.  Try and see what colour the sashings need to be.  If I add sashings (and I will), I won't need to make quite so many blocks!  Yaaa.

End of Day: productive, enjoyable, and still spot on with the OFL Plan!  I am amazing myself.
Resolve is still strong... I think it is going to last the distance!

NO PHOTO!

Nope, I have not got anything to put up yet today.
What a sorry state of affairs.

We will have to rectify that soon.

Until then.  Stew and Steve are back at work today, poor buggers.
The kids have today off school too... so I might just get them doing a few jobs around the house.

They don't get asked to do much at all and it's about time they did a few jobs to help.

We feed them after all!

Food.  I'm doing really well.  I mixed up an amazing combination of Hubbard's Muesli's and nuts/dehydrated banana/raw rolled oats and raisins and that is my 'brunch' with some yogurt, or a small snack after dinner if I'm still hungry.

I am going to 'force feed' Griffin that too, for his breakfast!

He eats too much bread ... not that I have anything against bread, but he eats too much of it.  And he's far too sedentary for a boy his age.
Things are going to change for that young man ... starting today. He won't know what hit him!

Someone asked me how Stew was doing 'weight wise' since the whole family started eating more healthily.  Well he has lost about the same amount of weight as me I think.  I haven't asked him how much he has lost because it really isn't about a NUMBER, it's more about how one feels.  Though a good loss number-wise is good to confirm one is doing things right.

We all have our own way of losing weight, what works for me may not work for you, and that's OK.  I realise that we are all different, and no ONE diet/lifestyle plan is right for everyone.
Anyone who wants/needs to lose weight should do whatever suits their body, their metabolism, their age, their current health, their likes and dislikes, their level of fitness and their budget too.  There is so many factors that can determine how you go about losing weight... there is not one BE ALL AND END ALL Diet.

Taking all these factors into account... I am doing what is best for ME.  Everything in moderation.  Except oysters.  Fuck I hate oysters.  And pumpkin.

Mrs C:  try not to notice the F word.... cos it's naughty of me to use it... I know.  You asked after Griffin and his new class.  He LOVES it.  His new teacher is lovely, and one of Griffin's best friends is in his new class too.  So our boy is happy at school again.

Right, I've yabbered on enough for now.  I'm off to make a job list so we can all get stuck in and get some housework done.  Like dusting.  And wiping kitchen cupboard doors.  OMG don't they get ikkky!

ABOVE: hey look!  I do have a photo.  Last night's dinner.  I had half a chicken schnitzel and some couscous with veges in it.  Carrots.  Did I mention I really don't like them cooked too?  Well I don't like them either... they are ikkk.  I am starting to realise I don't like quite a few foods.  Fussy tart I am.

The point of the photo was so you could see my pretty dinner plate.  It's about 2/3rds the size of a regular dinner plate.  Just the right size for me.
I am tempted to get one for Stew too... but I know him.  He would pile his food a foot high.
Pointless.  He knows what he is doing, and how much he eats is up to him eh?

ONWARD...

Bex had a Dr's appointment this morning, so we all went out and while she was at the Dr's, the kids and I wandered around the mall.  I went into a clothing shop I had NEVER been in before.  I always walked past thinking nothing would fit me in there.
I was wrong!
I decided to have a gander...

ABOVE:  Look at that!  Leggings, a gorgeous top and a lovely warm jacket type top.... and none of them fit me!  YET.  Give me another two months and I reckon they will.

Massive incentive eh?

Back to my plans for Griffin...

ABOVE: Step 1.  Accomplished.  He loved his new breakfast.  Bloody relieved about that cos he is as fussy as me.

Step 2.  will happen after his lunch has settled.

KAREN B:  The shop is called 'Emma Rose Apparel, not only do they have a large range of sizes, they are also very fairly priced.

Now:  Step 2 for Griffin:  ...

ABOVE:  Half an hour on the treadmill... and I might even put him on the exercycle too.  I will see how hot and bothered he is when he's finished on the treadmill before deciding if he needs the exercycle work out too.

I didn't put Griffin on the exercycle, I gave him a rag and furniture polilsh and made him polish all the wooden furniture in the lounge and family room.
Then he got this job:

ABOVE: peeling the potatoes for dinner.  I came up with a great idea to stop me and others slicing our fingers with the peeler!
I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of it... I just wish it hadn't taken me 50 years to think of it too!

ABOVE:  Peel a small area at one end, shove a fork in the peeled place then peel the rest of the potatoe while holding it with the fork.  Yaaa. No more sliced fingers or knuckles!

So, that's the spuds done.

Brylee didn't get off jobs either!
I got her doing:

ABOVE:   the family bathroom....

ABOVE:  and the shelving unit by the front door.

ABOVE:  while we were all working (ok, I was supervising)... this little darling slept on and on.  He's having a huge nap today!

ANON: for various reasons, NO... Griffin has not expressed any desire to do any Martial Arts, and we have no intention of encouraging him either.

In the right hands, knowledge in martial arts is harmless.   In the wrong hands... it is not.  Our son-in-law was beaten by another member of his extended family, who was an expert in kick boxing.  NOT PRETTY, he ended up in hospital!

I'm not saying I think Griffin would use that sort of knowledge the wrong way... I just don't like the idea at all.  Ain't gunna happen.  Griffin is a gentle/passive type of person.  And I like that.

End of Day:  I made beef burgers for dinner.  But not quite the same as you would buy in a shop... will show ya tomorrow.
nite nite.

THANK YOU... AND NO'S # 4 AND 5

A big THANK YOU for your lovely comments yesterday about the changes in me face since December.
As I said, I really couldn't see it myself until I did the comparisons from month to month!

Yesterday I noticed something else too!
I always put my phone in me bra... slip it in the top near me arm.  Anyway, twice yesterday I LOST the darn thing!  Couldn't understand why it wasn't in me bra?  Until I realised it WAS... only it had slipped right down to the bottom.  Something tells me either me bra is growing... or me boobies are shrinking!

OMG I so want the boobies to shrink.  I am TOTALLY over boobs.  I no longer care that they will end up like sad, saggy things I have to ravel up in me bra!  *Smiles*, I just want them SMALLER.

Last night I got two more blocks finished too:

ABOVE: two bag blocks.  The one on the left is actually prettier than it looks there, and the one on the right is GORGEOUS!  The hook is a bit ikkk, must do a few practise ones I think.

ABOVE:  We saw quite a bit of Keera over the weekend... (and isn't Stew looking yummy?)

ABOVE:  You would NEVER guess she was teething eh?  lol  She is just the most adorable baby.

ABOVE: The parents of our OTHER adorable Auckland Baby.  Steve gives Bex a hard life... it's something to do with the boobies AGAIN!  He's always trying to have a grope... or kiss.  *MEN*

ABOVE:  Can't miss Dante out!  Here he is with his fingers jammed in his gob... he is totally focused on his mouth right now.  I am starting to think he might be left handed.... as he is putting his left hand in his mouth more often than not.  Time will tell.

Today?  Off to Spotlight again... just want a bit more braid.  Bex wants to get a few more fat quarters (small fabric pieces).
Then I think Stew and I are babysitting Dante while Steve and Bex go to the supermarket, they are cooking dinner tonight and want some 'special' ingredients.  Could be interesting...

ONWARD...

JOAN:  my 'diet' is not really a 'diet' because I do not ban any food at all.
I eat smaller portions, I try to make sensible choices all week and I allow myself ONE MEAL a week which can be anything I desire.  Like Pizza, or Ice Cream!

The biggest change for me has been no snacking, no silly stuff like chips/dips/lollies/chocolate/cake etc.

But, PORTION CONTROL is the biggest change.  I bought myself a really lovely dinner plate, which is about half the size of the 'normal' dinner plate, and my evening meal goes on it.
And it's not allowed to be piled up two feet high!

Hunger pangs?  Yes I do get them, but I just ignore them,  because they mean I am no longer stuffing me gob with rubbish!

Bread?  Yes, but in moderation.  I don't plan my menu's for the day... I just eat what we have in the fridge/pantry.

I don't eat too much sushi, maybe once a week.  If you eat too much of anything, you will soon start to dislike it.
I HATE TUNA!  I ate it every day at one point years ago.  Can't bear it now.

Stew and the kids are going out soon, while I have opted to stay home and sew.  I no longer feel the need to go out at weekends/long weekends, I'd much rather just stay home.

I've been sewing for 6 hours! Hell didn't even notice how long I had sat sewing.  Oh well... I was happy... and I got 5 more blocks finished!

ABOVE:  hard to believe they took 6 hours to do!     I have gotten better with sewing the hooks... my first one looked heinous!
Time to take a break, once again my eyes have lost focus ... everything in blurry!

Dinner tonight is presented by Steve and Bex... I think the family is getting a fish dish of some sort.  I've opted out of fish... so they are giving me a chicken schnitzel instead.

I'm not overly fussed on eating fish.  We had fish for lunch/dinner heaps when I was growing up... my Dad was a prolific fisherman, so we had to eat it.

The only stuff out of the sea I still like to eat is scallops, crayfish, prawn, crab, squid and mussels.

I'm rather tired now... so me feet are going up and I'm gunna watch some mindless TV, as long as I can get Stew to change the channel!  He has watched sport all weekend... every chance he got in fact.

BELLA:  the stairs are PERFECT... and they look lovely.  I am hanging out (waiting) until Wednesday when the kids are back at school so I can wash the entire new flooring.  I love it!  The laminate is slightly darker and has more wood detail then our old laminate, so it's just lovely.

End of Day:  Productive.  Fun. Chocolate and Easter Hot Cross Bun free.
Felt like gnawing me own arm a few times this afternoon... but I survived.  Dinner was lovely by the way, I love couscous.  I'd not had any before so it was quite nice trying something new.
nite nite
