THE NEW PROJECT

Well... today Keera and I are working on my new project.  Once we finish it, Keera is going to make one of her own to take home to Lacy's.  Hopefully she gets it finished today... if not, tomorrow for sure.

ABOVE: This is the start of said project.
More to come...
later.

9 am, and we have finished our first new project!

The process:

ABOVE: And there she is, Kare, our very first Scrappy Doll.  (pronounced Care)  She is stuffed but you can't quite tell in the photos.

What do ya think of her?

We LOVE HER.

And we are now going off to make one for Keera to take home.

ABOVE: Well Keera was making great progress with her own doll... then a car pulled up in our driveway.

I was like, who is that??

ABOVE: What a surprise!  It was my dear friend Sharon, who used to live in Taupo, but is now in Sydney, Australia.

She's home for Easter, then going back to Aussy again.

How wonderful to spend some time with her.

ABOVE: Guess what?

She bought Kare!  So our very first doll got snapped up within a couple of hours of being made.

I can't think of a more lovely person to have our first scrappy doll.

I saw a doll similar to ours on a Facebook group called ScrappyGirlsClub a couple of days ago, that's where I got the idea from.

I joined the group and posted our first doll on there this morning.  So far our doll has had 223 likes/loves!!!

Right, it's nearly lunchtime, so we shall do a little bit more work on Keera's doll, then head out for a nice lunch somewhere.

4 pm:  And we have both made another scrappy doll each.

Keera made hers 100% ON HER OWN, with only some coaching from me.

She did really, really well.

ABOVE:  Keera holding HER doll, named 'Kerrie'.

ABOVE: And here she is holding her doll, and mine.  Which will be going to market on Saturday.

And now it's time to take Miss Muppet  home to her Mum.

6.42 pm:  Keera safely home, Stew home from work... down tools again.
We did a very quick trip over to Steve and Bex's to get a few buttons and pieces of felt off Bex.  Raiding her stash in other words.

I didn't want to spend any more on stuff at Spotlight, I've already spent a bomb there the past couple of days!
It is so annoying knowing I have all that stuff IN STORAGE!!
I plan on making two more scrappy dolls before the weekend, then I'll stop until I see how they go at markets.

Time to sign off for the day, I'm knackered.

  5. HAHA. I just "googled" "Scrappy Dolls". How fun and clever! You could do ANYTHING. Make a cat head.. or whatever. I truly thought it was going to be a pillowcase. You could make a Pillowcase too. Scrappy, or one fabric, or two.....

Love ❤️ love Care and the photos with Keera look like she's going to be a sewer or a crafter! Seems very content making stuff. I wish my granddaughter was but she's too busy with her career! Have a great day Chris and Keera 🫂 kj

Wow, I love the Kare doll 💕💕💕. Gorgeous. So lovely Keera has you guiding and teaching her to sew and do craft projects. Sadly sewing seems to be a lost art among the young.
