JUNK

I got a comment a while ago, and while it was most likely kindly intended, it did kinda upset me too.

The person said:  " You will be so happy that you got rid of your junk and went small as you age. I am thinking that you will start junking up the new house . Don’t do it".

Now there are two parts to this.

1.  I don't consider anything in my house JUNK.

2. If I decide to put said JUNK back in my house, that's my prerogative surely?

I have a lot of what I consider precious 'stuff' in storage.  Once we move,  I will slowly bring it all back from the storage unit.

I will be sorting it into 'Keep' and 'Donate' piles. Anything really precious will be staying in our new home, even if we end up being a bit 'CLUTTERED'.  Which is bound to happen considering how small the new home is.

Remember, Stew and I are the ones who will be living there, not anyone else.  I don't have to worry about anyone else, or them having to live in my clutter.  So, thanks for your input, but wait for it.... there will be JUNK reappearing in 6+ weeks.

That was not a RANT, I just had that niggling in the back of my mind, and wanted to address it.

Easter Monday... Stew is still home.  The shops are open, and I need to visit Spotlight for a couple of things.  So we will go out and about this morning I reckon.

OOoo something else I just thought of.  There's a few brand new gardens around our next home, so I get to choose the plants to put in them.  I guess I'm buying more hydrangeas then!  lol  And of course I shall be putting some 'rusty bits' in those gardens too.

Is that 'junking them up' too?
YEP.
Did you know that most of my rusty bits (that I've kept) are from my Dad's workshop?  He was a logger and had heaps of old rusty bits.  I got a few after he died (25 years ago).  Those 'bits' of junk are PRECIOUS to me.  I knew I couldn't keep most of the bigger bits, and they have gone.  But I do have a few much smaller pieces to put in my garden.  I simply cannot wait to get them back.  Right now Steve and Bex are looking after them for us.

GUESS WHAT?
ABOVE is a photo of our new garage, and that far end is going to be my sewing space.  The partition wall will be coming down.  It is not needed or wanted there.  That is called a 'sneak peek'. 😂😉😊

ABOVE:  We woke to a super foggy day, but the sun is now burning through it.  It will probably end up being a nice day.  It's certainly not cold.

We went over to our storage unit, as I had to retrieve my batting.  I decided that was a better option than going to Spotlight and buying more.

I'm now going to carry on working on our bed runner...

***  Right, before any more comments are made.... the person who left that comment did not intend to offend me, of that I am sure!  It was just a comment that was possibly fired off without thinking how it may be taken.  I'm NOT OFFENDED.  I was just a bit like... hmmm.  Let me think about that for a while, then respond.

ABOVE:  Eeee gads!  I just measured the length of the bed runner.  It is over 3 metres long.  No wonder I'm just looking at it right now thinking.... yeah, might do that a bit later on.  😂😏
I'm getting our lunch right now, then I will get back to it.

6.15 pm:  I got back to it... for the entire afternoon.
I NEVER want to make a 3 metre long runner again!!!
It was murder on my upper arms and lower back.
AND that Dragonfly fabric is a loose weave, so it played up something rotten.  It puckered and moved like no other fabric I've worked with before.
But I managed to do a half decent job of our runner.
I will show you tomorrow.

I cooked pork belly for our dinner.  We are having it with mashed potatoes, gravy and veges.
It looks amazing.  I bet it tastes amazing too.

Dinner was lovely, thought the pork belly was a bit chewy.  Still nice though.  I am having left overs of it tomorrow for my lunch.
Time to sign off, I'm knackered.
Catch ya tomorrow.

Junk all you want! It's your house! I collect all sorts of vintage stuff and minimalists would hate our house. We love it!

OMG I had to laugh at the audacity of that 'junk' comment! It's YOUR space so you do whatever the hell you like with it. If you find that you just don't have enough space to display all that you would like, then store some of it and rotate as you please. My mum used to do that and said it felt so good to see a new arrangement of pieces every so often. All the best with your new place! Essdee

OMG Chris, the hide of people. It’s NOT junk, it’s precious to you - totally understand that. I have many precious items from my parents and they will be with me forever! Your new home will be absolutely fabulous because it is YOUR home for YOU and Stew. Before you know it you’ll be all settled in your forever home happy as 💕💕💕

Junk was an unfortunate word choice. In my own house, I think my stuff as clutter. I am downsizing clutter.

Could the partial wall be reworked into a flannel design wall? Maybe with shelves built into the other side?

  8. The hazard of the keyboard where tone and facial expression can't temper the written word. As you say, I'm sure the junk comment was meant with no malice - more kindness and maybe a touch of humour.
Makes more sense to "shop" at the storage unit - saves you money!!

    3. Neither car will be in the garage. It's going to be for sewing and storage.

  10. Have you ever tried 505 basting spray. It has gone up a lot in recent years but you don’t need much either

I have a lot of stuff, treasures or what some would call junk too. I am happy with my stuff and that person probably has a house that has no personality. Gigi

  14. If you don't have any "junk" it's just boring. Junk makes it fun :)
