Six weeks down, six to go.
A 'normal' settlement time span, once you go unconditional, is six weeks. This time ours was 3 months. While it's been good to have that extra time to finish the packing, organising etc.. I do wish it had only been six weeks. I just want this whole damn process OVER.
Life is still 'ON HOLD'.
And all Stew and I do is mentally move furniture around in the new house, plan what will go where, and so on.
HALF WAY THERE.
This morning Coco and I are going for a walk at the lake. I'm hoping Coco can do the whole way around, if not I have a front pack thingee to put her in. I have missed walking around the lake heaps. Now that the weather is finally cooling down, I hope to do it on a regular basis again.
11 am: And I'm just in from my walk etc.
First off.
I won't be going to the lake again.
A couple of reasons.
1. It is a diabolical trip across town, particularly in 8 am traffic! So slow and annoying.
2. It's a 24 km round trip. Kinda a waste of petrol when I can drive 1.5 kms down the road and walk along the river bank, which is just as lovely.
Today's walk? I got about 600 metres along the path and my calf started to hurt, so I slowed down. Then 'PING', the bloody thing 'went' again. I don't know what's going on, it is definitely my calf muscle playing up. I think I will have to give it more time before trying to walk distances again. Grrr.
She's older and wiser than Marley. lol
ABOVE: To be clear, I don't walk Coco, she walks ME. She did just fine on our little walk, not gasping for air, just happy as larry.
ABOVE: There seems to have been an explosion of Canadian Geese! They were EVERYWHERE, and so loud. Lots of domestic squabbling going on by the looks of it.
After our little walk, I drove out to our new Village to talk to Management about a few things. I left there very happy after having my questions answered.
Now? I'm having an early lunch, to be followed by bugger all really. I can't pack anything else!
What's not packed it in use. And we are still six weeks out from moving. *sigh*
I have been having lots of fun this afternoon... letting my fingers do the walking.
I have been having lots of fun this afternoon... letting my fingers do the walking.
Sussing out a garden shed to house all our bits 'n' bobs.
Stew and I might take a drive out to the village after dinner to take some measurements of the area we can put a garden shed. It has to 'blend' in with the environment and not be an eyesore for everyone else in the village. Of course! I don't want to put something nasty on the property do I?
Once we have decided which way to go... metal or wood, I'll show you.
A flicker of excitement just happened! lol
Over a bloody SHED ffs. That's just a wee bit sad.
Time to sign off for the day.
Catch ya tomorrow.
Here in Melbourne 90 days is extremely common. 30, 60, 90 is the go here. Marie, Melbourne
ReplyDeleteHope you and coco enjoyed your walk. Mentally shifting furniture is mentally exhausting.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely way to start your day. Bugger about your calf muscle. You’ve been very busy packing etc so maybe your muscle is telling you it needs more rest. Coco looks very happy to be out and about too. 6 weeks woo hoo. Frustrating for you having to wait but exciting too. You are doing very well with being patient. Have a lovely weekend
ReplyDeleteHappy as Larry. That's funny. Do you have Lidocain patches to put on your sore calf? Or some soothing cream? Anything to help the hurt? Ky Girl
ReplyDeleteIf you get really bored over the next 6 weeks you could go to the storage locker and sort out stuff you don't want cos I think you said you were going to donate some leftover stuff once you move into your new place. That means even less stuff to move😉
ReplyDeleteTake time to rest that leg! You have probably used it too much so sit down and rest it!!! If you know how lol. 🫂 kj
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing what people can see as eyesores in a village - one person's treasures, etc. Might be worth running your choice of shed past the management just in case - you don't want to start off with complaints! Audrey
ReplyDeleteI have already had that discussion with management (this morning), and as it will be within our fenced off area, it is not going to be a problem, whatever we choose. But in saying that, it will be visible to other residents nearby, so I am taking my time and making sure I make the right choice.
DeleteI've got a new 'long drop ' outside too. My landlord made it from pellets and a bit of rainproof lininginside. Got a bit of tin on it for now. But it's only for little people, no taller than the height of my outside walker. If Ken has car I can't get it downstairs so now I just have to walk down them holding onto the rail and tada I can fly!!! Kj
ReplyDeleteMy dear friend, I think you meant you have a new shed, not a longdrop. My mind boggled at the thought of you having a longdrop in your backyard! lol
DeleteLooking forward to the river photos.. My mum and dad lived very close to the river in the last few years before I left NZ. I can remember the sights and sounds.
ReplyDeleteMind you I remember the lake too. From 65 years ago 🤔😅😅
HAHA. This is ironic. TODAY - my sister in law was walking her 120 pound Chocolate Labrador Retriever and she was ATTACKED by a Canadian Goose. It flew at her , trying to bite, and hit her in the head. She was scared to death. Some people driving by saw the scuffle and chased the goose off. This story was told to my husband by his Mom. My husband asked why Ollie (the big dog) didn't do anything..... And my Mother in Law said "He's a different kind of dog"..... What on earth does that mean??? HAHAHAHA..
ReplyDeleteGood Grief - I can tell you right now that Jethro would have a fantastic time putting that goose in it's place.
Hi, I think your calf pain sounds like an achilles tendon tear....Peta
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else have a shed? If not, I would wait and see how things are with your neighbors. Even if they are allowed, you might not want to do it. (I am surprised they allow them.)
ReplyDeletePlus, maybe as you unpack and see what you are keeping, you will discover you do not need a shed. I realize you have always had them, so it seems like an automatic necessity, but maybe not.
