SOMETHING BIG

Yesterday I went out looking for some really thick, warm pants to wear to markets.  There's at least 3 more really cold markets to endure.

I didn't find any pants.  So I'm back to thinking of getting a sleeping bag, a really good quality one.  So later on today I might go out to find one.

Fingers crossed I find something, cos our next market is this coming Saturday.  And the temperatures in the morning right now are ZERO DEGREES.

Also yesterday, I bought some earphones for my phone... but I can't get them to work.  So that's something else I want to sort out today.  I shall take them back to the store and ask them to show me how to get them to connect to me phone.  Lacy tried making them work last night.  She got them to connect to my laptop, but not my phone.

There is one more thing on the agenda today.  But that is a 'not gunna tell ya' one.  You will just have to wait and see.

It could be this morning, or sometime after lunch.

Catch ya later.

Audrey:  I did buy thermal long johns and polar neck tops.... and when I wear THREE polar tops under my jacket I am warm up top ... it does not work for my legs!
And wearing three pairs of thermals under your 'normal' winter clothes makes moving VERY HARD!
That is why I'm thinking of a sleeping bag to actually climb into, and unzip when I need to stand up and move.

ANON AND PAULA:  I will go to The Warehouse and Mountain Warehouse today.  I asked at Kathmandu yesterday about ski pants, and the bloke there said they don't actually keep you WARM, they just keep you dry.

But, I will persevere, as I really need something fast. There is NOTHING worse than being at a winter market for 6.5 hours and BEING FREEZING.  I literally get home chilled to the bone. It can't be good for you surely?

1.10 pm:  And IT HAPPENED!

ABOVE:   BEFORE

ABOVE:  AFTER

This house FEELS LIKE HOME NOW.
It is incredibly how much having this lounge suite has 'MADE' the house feel like ours!
I am so very happy.

ABOVE: The lounge suite arrived in masses of boxes, so Lacy cut them all up...

ABOVE:  Then she loaded it all in her car, and took it down to our recycling area.

ABOVE: The centre console of our larger sofa.  It has a contactless phone charger.

ABOVE:  If I push that little button...

ABOVE: Two cup holders emerge!

ABOVE: The entire centre console.  I love the lift up bit, where you can store all the shit you like to have beside you.

ABOVE: The recliner control panels.  AND another charging station, so all up there's 5 charging stations!  Plus you can adjust the back rest and head rests to your own comfort.  I LOVE IT!
Stew loves that the head rests can go UP, perfect for a taller person.  I love that there's adjustable back support.  So comfortable.

ABOVE: Last but not least, at the end of each side is a pull out storage area, and another cup holder.   OMG so handy for magazines, papers and what not.  They will usually stay closed.

BEFORE anyone tells me.... I know I will need to centre the shell painting above the couch!  It looks so wrong, so that will get done this evening when Stew can do it for me.

BUT.... doesn't it look like our home now or what!

7.56 pm, Stew arrived home and we did some 'tweaking' in the lounge.  Had some dinner, and now we are just chillin' out.  Watching some telly.  Then off to bed.
Catch ya tomorrow.

Thermal top and bottoms will keep you warm or warehouse have warm fluffy lined leggings. They're too warm for me sometimes.

Sleeping bag is a great idea as you mainly sit at markets so no clothing will keep you comfortable. Marjorie in Canada

Chris - can I send you a picture to your e-mail of how I have my heat pump and a/c set on the remote? When I first got it I wasn't keen on how it worked, but my neighbor showed me how she set hers up and since I've done the same I sometimes have to wonder if they are even on because they are so quite.

For heat - I set all three units on 70 and forget about it. For cool I set all three units on 74 and only use them during the day as our nights cool down to the 50's & 60's and it takes a good while, usually noon, before I need to turn them on.

What's the important thing is how the units are set. Which is the highest efficiency. My highest electric bill during the winter was $200. And I only had the one high bill...rest of them over winter were $140, $169, $180...etc I can live with that.

So far for the summer the highest bill has been $67.00

Also - my house is poorly insulated. I did have baseboard heating and boy, was that ever expensive.

Just trying to help out so you do not have to freeze.. I refuse to freeze or swelter. ;-). Ky Girl

  16. Pity that Uniqlo doesn't seem to have stores in NZ. There are plenty of them in Australia, including Brisbane. They have great fur lined pants.
