PAVERS

Well, we have another day of pottering around in the garden/house ahead of us.

First up we are going to get some pavers to put under the new water feature (once it arrives), and also our brazier.

ABOVE:  Both those blue pots are moving, and so is the brazier.  The umbrella stand is going into the middle where the brazier is.  I am going to get a small table that the umbrella can go down through the middle of.

So lots of plans.

The new water feature is going to be positioned to the left, where the left hand blue pot is.

Come summer, our dining patio is going to be beautiful.

This is the first 'tweaking' of that area too.  Such fun tweaking!

Like a twat, I left the washing outside last night.  This morning?  Pissing down with rain.
So I had a thought...

ABOVE: I got the large blind from the garage, which had no use here, and draped it over the lines.

ABOVE:  How handy is that?  Might not be perfect, but it's going to keep most of it from becoming sopping wet.
I like how I think sometimes.

I'm hoping it clears up at some point, so we can get on with tweaking our back yard.

11.58 am, at Mitre 10. In the carpark. This bloke sees his wife coming over from a distance.  He yells out "Hey, we are over here. Did you get the haemorrhoid  cream?"

Very funny. Like how he thinks.

ABOVE:  Standing in the queue, behind a bloke who took FOREVER to show the assistant what he was looking for.  On his phone for a good 5 minutes at least, trying to find it.  Grrrrr.

ABOVE: Finally home, and we managed to get most of the tweaking done in between heavy showers.
The Brazier looks lovely there, and we got some pretty flowers to put around our fire rock inside it.

ABOVE: The back entrance to our yard is now framed by the two blue pots.

ABOVE:  I am thinking of getting four different coloured seat cushions (squabs) for the chairs.  There's nothing in the shops yet, I'll have to wait until summer stock starts arriving.  I want them to be bold, colourful and vibrant.

It is now 1.06 pm, and I have lunch cooking.  Salad and meat patties etc.

6.26 pm:  We have had a quiet afternoon, which was very nice.
Around 5 pm I suggested we go down for a bit of exercise, followed by a swim/soak.  So off we went.
I did 12 minutes on the recumbent exercycle, then swam and walked in the pool.  Stew just did some gentle exercises in the pool.

ABOVE: It is so nice having the pool all to ourselves.

ABOVE: Same with the changing/shower room.  It is such a clean and tidy facility.
I now smell like Stew though, as I had grabbed the wrong bottle of shower wash.  Oh well, just as well I like how he smells.

We are now going to settle down for the evening, so time to say...

    All sounds lovely.

Is there a solar option for the water pump?

Did you keep the big urn that you had in the front garden of last house? It matches the water feature?

  3. PHEW. On first glance I thought the title of todays post was "prayers". Which is often used in reference to school shootings. Unfortunately a school shooting just happened a few hours from here. My friend's niece is a teacher there, she was injured, and lost one of her students. So... HUGE sigh of relief you said PAVERS.
I think the water feature will look lovely there.

  4. Do you ever use a clothes dryer? I do almost always. And if I line dry the clothes - they get crunchy.

  5. I have been using the clothes dryer since we moved here, as I didn't have an outside line. I would rather put the clothes outside if I can, to save power mostly. I have spent the last 45 years of my life trying to save power! It is expensive to use clothes driers all the time.

  6. Oh and if your clothes come out 'crunchy' you probably have 'HARD WATER', or need to change what you use to wash them with... powder or liquid? You can get additives to make the water 'softer'. Though I suppose you are so used to chucking the washing in the dryer you won't. lol

  7. I like to line dry because the clothes always seem fresher. I usually just use the dryer to 'finish' them off if still slightly damp. This winter I have had to use the dryer more than usual though. Regarding your line, you can actually buy a line cover called "Clevacover" so someone has thought of that before :)

Iii did the same when I first.moved here. Put a Tarpaulin over.my clotheslin̈e to get them dry. Didn't have a dryer. It worked well though sometimes the wind blew the rain in sideways. Kj

  11. My clothes line in first home was against the house and way the rain generally came the house sheltered the washing it was great. When I sold the house new ppl put rotary line in front yard right out front of house perfect view from lounge ick. We use drier all the time line is too far from laundry I'm lazy !!!

Where the blue pots are now, do you have to keep that opening open for the lawn service people? If so, can you string a piece of pretty material from side to side for privacy, only while you are out there, you could roll it in when you are not out of doors using the patio, or it is lawn service day. Just curious. Ky Girl
