Well. After looking at the rug and couches all afternoon yesterday... I was convinced it didn't look 'right'.
So, many moves of said rug later, and we settled on a new position for it.
ABOVE: First little 'tweak' was the painting. It's in the right position now.
ABOVE: The rug is now running width ways across the room, instead of length ways. This means when you come in the front door, you are not walking over the rug to get to the kitchen and rest of the house. The rug is truly in 'the lounge' area.
Today I am going to do those things I didn't get done yesterday. Get the new headphones working with the help of the bloke at JB Hi-Fi. And hunt for warm pants, or a sleeping bag.
Good news, my sister went home from the hospital last night. She will be much happier at home I'm sure, surrounded by her family and animals.
OMG, I just remembered something that happened yesterday that was AWESOME!
Lacy and I were outside while the delivery guys were inside unpacking the lounge suite.
Their truck was blocking the road.
So when the village van turned up, dropping off ladies who'd done their shopping, they couldn't get close to the ladies homes. They ended up being dropped off right outside my home.
One of the ladies who got out of the van was the one who 'runs away' and avoids talking to us.
She had 5 bags of groceries.
So I went over and offered to help her carry the bags to her house.
First off, she said NO NO NO, not necessary. But I just up and picked up her bags and told her I was going to help her, so there.
And she let me.
And she was like, talking and smiling at me!
She asked me a few questions, and I answered.
We had quite a lovely chat while we walked to her front door!
She was very thankful and kept smiling at me.
It felt really nice.
Maybe I've broken the ice?
Time will tell I suppose.
12.20 pm, and I've been out trying on friggin pants for over two hours!
And I found NOTHING that fit well, felt comfy, and would keep me warm.
So on to Plan B.
ABOVE: I went to Hunting & Fishing and got a really good sleeping bag! The guy said THAT would keep me warm.
Home now, and about to have some lunch.
Well again I had a quiet afternoon. I am enjoying just sitting in my lounge. There is much to be said for peace, a quiet, harmonious space, and time on your own.
Until boredom sets in! lol
Maybe that will happen tomorrow?
For now, I'm just going to take it as it comes.
Stew will be home soon, then we can decide what to have for dinner... then settle down for a nice evening together.
We decided to have pizza for dinner. I'd like to say it was wonderful, but in reality it was very average. Next time I will make our own.
Time to sign off for the day, catch ya tomorrow.
Maybe that poor lady is just incredibly socially awkward which is why she tries to avoid everyone, good on you for helping her 😁

ReplyDeleteWOO HOO! You DID break the ice with the neighbor! That was super nice of you. I am sure she was grumbling to herself when she saw the van couldn't get closer to her door! And WHOOP - you saved the day with ONE act of kindness!

The lady who avoids talking to you and acts so strange reminds me of my mother when her dementia first started. She became suspicious of people and went out of her way to avoid having to talk to any of her neighbors. She was becoming quite fearful until a couple of the neighbors realized what might be going on with her, and like you, they went out of their way to keep being kind to her. Eventually my mother became comfortable and less fearful for almost a whole year, until her dementia kicked in full force and took over her life. But it was wonderful to know that those neighbors, and people like you, care enough to try and make someone feel at ease.
