Well, I thought all the stress was over.
But, it probably isn't.
We have to wait a few days before we can make an offer on the home we viewed yesterday.
When you are dealing with rather elderly owners, you can't rush them.
So... there's a few days before we can put something on paper.
Meantime, I'm stressed out... AGAIN.
Today I shall continue packing stuff. I still have the Britto to pack up.
And I will probably make a start on sanding all the little spots on walls that need sanding, then painting.
I have a load I can take over to our storage unit as well. So see? Plenty to do.
Stew is back at work today, it was nice having him home yesterday I must say. Nice to have company on a Monday.
OMG, 10 minutes is all it took for me to sand all the little spots on the walls that needed it. I can now get the painting done. I shall work on that today before anything else I think. Get it off my bloody mind.
ABOVE: Lunch and dinner cooked for the next few days. I'm going to have a chicken wrap for my lunch. It smells SOOOO GOOD.
ABOVE: I should have the entry way walls finished in about half an hour. Making good progress, but heaps more to do.I can't just spot paint, the entire wall has to be done or it looks Ikkkkk.
12.15 pm: And I've had me lunch, it was delicious.
And... I can't believe it. I reckon I will have all the painting finished by this evening, if not sooner.
ABOVE: This corner in the kitchen/family room is the worst of the lot, and I've got it prepped for painting. It won't even take long. Then I have to do two more biggish walls and I'm done!
DOGSTARS: I have the right paint because when we had the entire interior of the house painted about 4 years ago, we bought enough paint for just this sort of thing. Touch ups. And you always have to do touch ups along the way, even if you are not moving.
In order to access the family room wall, behind the blue lounge suite... I had to move that lounge suite.
OMG what a job.
But. Triple blessings.
1. I can get to the wall to paint it.
2. I can try and remove all the furniture dents IN THE CARPET now.
AND the third blessing... we are gifting that lounge suite to S 'n' B. It is too big for our potential new home.
It would have been massively cramped in the new lounge with that suite, PLUS my new Patchwork Chair and Ottoman.
Something I really shouldn't have bought in hindsight. But it is what it is, and I have them now.
3.44 pm. And I've ground to a halt. Totally spent. Moved furniture. Vacuumed. Cleaned the last walls ready to paint. Didn't paint them. Just too tired. They can wait until tomorrow.
I'm very, very happy with what I got accomplished today. 3/4's of the walls are done.
Our Estate Agent rang to talk to me. She was gobsmacked I was painting walls!
But I couldn't not do it. I would hate to move into a new home and find shitty looking walls.
In fact, the last house we previously made an offer on had shitty walls. It looked to be a really bad, rushed job by someone who didn't even bother prepping. Even the ceiling was botched! Note to self, never wash or paint just one small section of the ceiling, it makes the rest look hideously dirty!
So, I'm just sitting here now... looking at a basket full of washing that needs folding. I might just keep looking at it for a while. 😃😂
5 pm: I got a 2nd, or was it a 3rd wind? And finally got all the Britto wrapped up and into boxes. That is a big job done. NOW I am going to stop for the day, cos I am now seriously DONE.
A funny for the end of the day:
"We must all do our part for the planet.
The other day I unplugged a row of electric cars nobody was using".
Stew and I thought it was rather funny.
Thankfully you have 3 months to get it all done. Not the initial signing, of course. Question: Is this new home in a Home Owners Association? That is what I am in, we have 22 homes and we pay a monthly fee that covers all outside work needed ie: painting, roofing, driveways, walkways, snow removal, yard mowing, weed eating, edging and blowing. We are also Owner occupied, we can not rent our home out, only an owner can live here.
ReplyDeleteJust curious. Ky Girl
Yes. Same sort of thing.
DeleteGood luck. I hope it all works out for you. Ky Girl
DeleteOMG. I live in FEAR of HOA's. (Home Owner's Association) I would NEVER live in a place (that I own) and allow someone else to tell me how I can use my house. There was even an X-Files show about it! HA. I should find that again! There was a woman in Florida (true story) that got eaten by a crocodile while walking her small dog on a leash in her backyard because her HOA fined her twice for walking her own dog, in her own front yard, on a leash. I would need to be in control of all expenses and yard work, maintenance - whatever. Even if... Especially if... I can't afford it. HOA's are really popular, though. It's hard to find a home that isn't part of one. Fortunately, out here in the middle of the forest on 100 acres - we don't have to worry about that!
ReplyDeleteAww so much happening at once aye?

DeleteHow on earth do you ALWAYS have the right color of paint? If I had to touch up my walls - I would need to paint the entire place. Hmmm, maybe I should!
ReplyDeleteHi, I hope you will be ok living in a complex ..I think you are a "free spirit" and sticking to rules might not be that good... lol ?...Peta
ReplyDeleteTIME. WILL. TELL.... lol!
DeleteI agree with Peta lol. Definitely not for me,
ReplyDeleteBefore you sign the contract, are you going to check on the rules and regulations of living in the complex - might be wise! You hear so many horror stories from people living in HOAs and similar. The rules in a retirement village can be annoying at times and there aren't too many of them. Audrey
ReplyDeleteDONE already.
DeleteRules you will have no trouble following? Audrey
DeleteOne will try, but I might end up being deemed a rebel.
DeleteI have four friends who have moved into a retirement village. They absolutely love it. It suits their lifestyle, two of them lost their husbands and just couldn’t stay in the big Home. The other two are still married and they have a fantastic life. They go off on cruising holidays and it’s just a lock and leave situation, and they know it’s all secure. The other advantage is that as they getting older they don’t want to be spending time in huge gardens or doing big maintenance jobs. Good luck for your future Margaret.
ReplyDeleteOne of my good friends mum was bullied and harassed over barking dogs air con unit too loud was near one of their bedrooms etc etc and TOO MANY visitors FFS! She still lives there but the moaning neighbour moved
