Wake up, roll over, check the time, wonder what's on today?
We have a 'free day' from people coming in to give us quotes, or just talk to us.
This morning we are:
- Taking our coffee table back to our 'old' house at 10 am. The new owner has bought it. DONE, and it was so weird seeing other people and furniture in 'our' house! 'A' is such a delightful woman, she took us around showing up what she had already done. Repainted the studio, garage and walk in wardrobe in the master bedroom. Plus a few other things here and there. We are welcome back anytime! lol
- Break up the cardboard boxing and take it down to the recycling area. DONE
- Stew is going to buy some wood for shelving for the 'man shed' and the attic. NOPE... has to wait for another day.
- Buy lights for the hallway and front bedroom. HALF DONE
- Buy new Range Hood. DONE
(The electrician will install them, among other things, sometime next week.)
So today will see us doing jobs and trying to have some down time too.
I will possibly do a run to the storage unit later on as well... there's a few things I'd like to get out sooner rather than later.
ABOVE: My view last night. It's going to change several times over the next few months. 😊 What fun.
Well as you can probably tell by my lack of updates, we have been busy.
Out and about until after 2 pm.
ABOVE: We ordered these lights for the hallway.
ABOVE: Also ordered a new shower and vanity... they will take 2-4 weeks to arrive.
We also ordered a new range hood and a new Samsung Induction Cooktop, as the Induction Cooktop that's here is not working properly.
One half works, the other - not at all.
Quite annoying, as when we did our Pre-Settlement inspection of all the electrical things, the cooktop seemed to be working. But of course, we didn't come over with a pot to check it with eh? 😖
ABOVE: The new Samsung Induction Cooktop we just ordered. It's got the same configuration as our last one, but doesn't have the pretty blue lights when it's on. I can live without the blue lights. 😕
ABOVE: We had lunch at Fergus, as I was too tired to contemplate cooking anything. We also got a load of stuff from the storage unit.
Stew is about to unload it...
ABOVE: I found our lovely wall clock in storage, it came back pronto. It's now in it's place, same situation as in our last home, under the heat pump. It looks right at home there.
I have about 4 boxes to unpack now.
ABOVE: We saw this rug in our storage unit, and for the life of me I couldn't remember where it was in our last home? Then I unrolled it, and remembered. It was in the lounge. And it looks perfectly fine in the new lounge.
Score. We don't need to buy a new one after all!
Funny how you forget what you've got when it's in storage. 😅😏
ABOVE: First drink in our new home. Had to be bubbles. Stew's havin' a beer.
8.14 pm: I have managed to unpack two more boxes. I say unpack, but in reality, half of what was in them is sitting on the dining table waiting for somewhere to go.
I am freaking out a bit, because there's just so much more to bring back from storage and unpack. And I have NO BLOODY IDEA where it's all gunna go!
I suppose I'll just have to tackle it one box at a time... one car load at a time.
Time to sign off for the day.
Catch ya tomorrow.
Looks like home!! Where is the kitchen in relation to the dining room? In your last picture is it back to the left of the dining table/curtains? I would assume that it is a galley kitchen? Ky Girl
ReplyDeleteI guess, you will be making many changes...do you feel happy there ? glad you moved?
ReplyDeletePeta
A few changes, nothing too major. Biggest change will be the bathroom. It will take time to feel 'at home' here.
DeleteWhat does CoCo think of it all? Ky Girl
ReplyDeleteCoco... now there's a bit of a story. Might talk about her in a blog post soon.
DeleteWhat a busy day.kj
ReplyDeleteOnce the curtains change from maroon things will look lovely, then all changes will fall into place have a spa x
ReplyDeleteI love love the table x
ReplyDeleteMade to fit score on the rug.
Mate is the the blue cooktop anywhere in NZ you loved that cooktop.
The blue light cooktop is no longer available. I got the last one last year.
DeleteIt's a pity that your blue lounge was so big. It would have looked great in your new house. xx Colleen
ReplyDeleteLook on the blog tomorrow, I will show you what we have ordered to replace that gorgeous lounge suite.
DeleteThat table topper is perfect for your new table
ReplyDeleteYou may already be thinking this way, but I thought I would mention it.
ReplyDeleteThere is a method of sorting where one decides on the container and then only keeps what fits.
Linen is a good example. Instead of looking for places to store all the existing linen, or even adding storage, instead with this philosophy one decides on a cupboard for linen and then only keeps the linen that fits comfortably in that space.
I have done this and it is very effective, especially in the kitchen. I reduced my kitchen volume hugely by designating very specific areas for set items. My criteria was “magazine photographer ready”. I did not crowd things. My pantry stores food and dishes and is beautiful. I also got rid of almost all my plastic and kept the glass with the silicone lids that can go in the freezer and the microwave and the dishwasher.
Me personally, I would not bring whole boxes home from the storage unit. I would open the boxes in the storage unit and only bring home what I really needed that had a specific place and use.
