PLANNING

Right my friends, Stew and I have a question to ask of anyone living in Brisbane.

We are going to be there from the 6th to the 12th.  What do you recommend we do/see/visit while we are there?

What's a MUST DO?  MUST GO to?

We will be spending some time with my sister Lorraine's daughter and grandchildren, but not all our time.

We are staying in Waterford, and will be relying on public transport and taxis.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Now, back to today.  I am going to be lining up another round table runner.  Very similar to the last one, but using a few more fabrics.

I'm excited to be sewing again.

I am also expecting Lacy to visit.  I've asked her to come over and get up in our attic to find one of our suitcases.  We will need it for our trip.  I do not want Stew trying to get up there with his dickey knee.

ABOVE:  I am really enjoying this puzzle.  I've done the fairly 'easy' bits, now it's on to the tricky, shitty bits.  lol   Nothing like a challenge eh?

ABOVE:  I found this photo of my new ring on the 'official' paperwork... it shows it much clearer than the one I took with my camera, which had yellow tones from the flash.  I'm so excited to get it next Monday.  I think I'll spend all my time while flying over to Brisbane just looking at it!  😂😅😊

Right, that's me for now.

Catch ya later.

11.25 am, and it's been a busy morning.

ABOVE:  Lacy arrived and got the suitcase down from the attic, and put up the new Christmas tree.
Then I had a bright idea.
I found out yesterday that we are responsible for the gardens that are under our eaves, so I decided to get weed matting, and put rocks in those gardens, with pots on top.
So...

ABOVE: Lacy and I went off to the landscaping place, and got rocks and weed matting.

ABOVE:  My poor little car was heavily weighed down, but she got the job done.

ABOVE: Lacy is coming back later on in the week to make a start for me.  She will get it finished while we are away I think.

ABOVE:  I ordered a carry bag off TEMU, it arrived and was a bit small for the job, so I ordered this one. It's a much better size.
I will use it to carry things from my car (down in it's car park) up to the house.  And visa versa.
The smaller blue one will be kept in the car for groceries, fabric purchases etc.

After Lacy left, I wanted me glasses.  Do you think I could find them!  I hunted EVERYWHERE, and was starting to think I'd lost them somehow... ???  But knew they really had to be in the house somewhere.

ABOVE:  I finally found them when I sat down to do this update!  WHAT.  A.  TWIT.  😂😅😆

Right.. I think we might just hire a car in Brisbane.  Will make it easier getting around.  Thanks for all the suggestions too.

  1. Wow. That is a beautiful ring with lots of bling.
The background of that puzzle looks a bit daunting.

  2. Firstly, why not hire a car? If not then download the uber app and test it out before you go. It's much easier than trying to get a taxi when travelling and you get the price of the journey before you start so no surprises.

  3. I should add, one thing we loved while in Brisbane this year was our walk along the Southbank area. You can go up to the top of the Star building to the Sky Deck and view over the entire area. That's free to do. To be honest, any activity will depend on how much Stew can walk around though.

I would use Uber rather than taxis. Download Uber app. Marie

Agree, practice Uber at home when you are not in a hurry and know where you are going. It will give you confidence. Is there someone in the family that can go with you the first time and show you how to do the app and check the license plate?

get the train to the city, then there are free buses around the city. Southbank and galleries, and absolutely do the ferry from Southbank to new farm / Hamilton and back to west end.

I agree and you get better views from train. Is Southbank still a thing to go to? Long time since I lived there.

Waterford is half way to the Gold Coast from Brisbane. Get the train to helensvale then a bus or taxi to the beach

If you do hire a car the Glass Mountains are spectacular - you can get there by train and bus but a hired car would be easier especially for Stew. Audrey

I agree with suggestions given but I would really hire a car for the duration of your visit. So much more freedom in terms of where you can visit and being comfortable and on your own ‘holiday time’. If you do hire a car I’d suggest day trips to the Gold Coast (south) and Noosa (north). Once you are at your accommodation I’m sure you’ll be able to research all the fabulous places you can visit.

  10. We have always hired a car in Brisbane ... so many places in and around to explore so we don't like being restricted by timetables 😀. We did a nice cruise down the river in Brisbane which was nice. I love the Hyperdome Mall and IKEA. The Koala Sanctuary is okay.

I’m no help for Brisbane, I flew in once, and drove to the Gold Coast in 2018, for the Triathlon World Championships (son #1 was competing). Apart from the race, highlights were bottle feeding baby koalas at a sanctuary, and learning to surf!

    Good job, Lacy!

I’m always losing my peepers…sometimes they’re actually ON MY FACE.

  13. Hahaha on the glasses! The rock will be nice under the eaves. The ring is beautiful!

Rent a car here means you rent a car and drive it yourself.

Hire a car means a car plus a driver who gives you tour and transportation.

    ???
