Another week rolls around, and I've got a few things on my agenda.
Today is Art and Craft Group here in the Village. So I'll go to that after lunch.
Before that, I will do the small amount of housework needing doing.
I'll put a few things in the new outside cabinet. Chair squabs/pads/cushions will go in it once we have some, but for now I am going to put the disposable bbq plates, plastic glasses etc in there. Also, the liquid we put in the fire rock... It's a gel of some sort.
The other morning job is to make sure everything is ready for our next market, coming up on Saturday in Tamahere. I'm sure I need more float (cash), and the runner bags need tidying up.
It's getting closer to our busy time with markets, though I have kept the number down this year.
I'm not interested in 'chasing' markets, doing as many as possible like some people. I just want to enjoy them, and not have them dominate my life.
While I love making my stuff ... I feel like I've probably only got another 5-10 years of doing it. Not because of health, but because of interest. I am already not feeling PASSIONATE about it anymore.
That could be down to just feeling so tired right now? I'm not sure. I'll just have to wait and see how I feel over the next year or two. Markets have been slow of late too, which might be why I am feeling like this?
I can't IMAGINE what I would do with myself if I gave up sewing! NO IDEA AT ALL.
Well... that was not where I expected today's start of the blog to go! Moving on...
The dog threw up on the carpet today. Quite unexpectedly. He has never done that before. Well.... It resulted in a cleaning of the entire carpet. So - I just got done with that. I figured I may as well do it while I had the carpet cleaner out. And it's a warm day so we can open windows and doors to help dry. Soon enough it will be winter.
ReplyDeleteI think it is very wise to see how you feel about markets over the next year. It sounds like it is likely time to move on.
ReplyDeleteA benefit of moving on to something else would be clearing all the market stuff out of your garage (tent, etc).
I think you could find another sewing project. For example - I have done ten full size charity quilts so far this year. Five for kids with cancer. Five for military veterans. I partner with long arm quilters who do the quilting either for free or nearly free. This allows me to use up a lot of fabric from my stash.

Vickie, I love that you do this! Something like that would be a great idea going forward perhaps for you Chris and would free up so much storage space in your garage.
DeleteThere are lots of groups here who do all kinds of charity sewing, not just quilting. Dog beds, fleece blankets, beautiful white outfits for babies who did not survive, teddy bears, etc.

Well, it’s taken me a couple of weeks to catch up with your happenings - I’ve been away since right before you moved. I’m loving seeing the changes you’ve made to your new ‘nest’ - I can’t believe how quickly you’ve got it done! I’m sure it doesn’t seem fast to you though. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteThats a great idea about a sales table. If you have time to make a banner to hang in the front of you tent it will bring the people in big time. Kj
ReplyDeleteI hope I can word this correctly…
ReplyDeleteIs that Lacy’s real hair?!
Magnificent!!!!
No, it's extensions added to her own hair.
DeleteCan’t say you’re not giving it your all to fit in slowly! It will happen. You have plenty of time.
ReplyDeleteYour house has become a home. Fitting in I imagine will take some time. Sounds as though you're feeling more comfortable though. I can imagine there are many different personalities there
ReplyDeleteI love to sew, and mostly make bags and pouches. But if I made 100 of the same bag, I’d lose interest pretty quickly. So changing up what you sew is a great idea, maybe make two or three of a few different things and see how they sell? X
