GAS REMOVAL QUOTE

It is going to be a BUSY morning!

We have the electrician coming back to continue installing lights/range hood etc.

Then we also have a new plumber coming to give us a quote on getting the gas heater off the wall, and replacing the gas hot water cylinder with an electric one.

Also sometime this morning, the Village Manager is coming back to suss out yet another option for our shed issue.  This option sounds way better ... so fingers crossed it can be done.... but I really don't think it will work.  Too much is involved.

I have to be up and 'presentable' before 7.45 am.  That will be a mission, cos I'm not even out of bed by then, of late. 😖😅

OH!  I just remembered something else... all the bathroom stuff is being delivered today as well.  I shall have a shower and vanity sitting in me lounge for a little while.  lol What's new?

Plumber has been and gone, now awaiting his quote.

Electrician is here installing the new rangehood etc.

Talking of the rangehood, I MUST show you why we are replacing the old one!

ABOVE:  See?  I couldn't bear to even look at it!  Completely disgusting.

ABOVE:  Mitre 10 just dropped off all the bathroom stuff.  And we get to look at it for a few days, until they can install on Thursday. It won't be finished on Thursday, but a lot will be done.

And it's now 9 am... things are ticking along rather fast!

ABOVE:  The one light I've been dying to see up...

ABOVE: Done, and I love it.

ABOVE: The new rangehood is in place, and so is the kitchen blind.

It is now almost lunchtime, so I shall pop out and do a couple of jobs (buy paint etc for the bathroom), then come home and enjoy looking at the pretty light.

I have not seen the manager this morning, so he might have already been and I didn't notice him.

KJ: there is no way in hell that woman next door will change her mind!

4 pm, and the Village Manager arrived.  We had another chat and I suggested ANOTHER option not yet thought of.  And it might be the best one yet.  He's off to talk to someone else, then he'll get back to me.

The mental exhaustion over this bloody issue!  I think there's been quite a few people kept awake over it.  It is slowly coming to a conclusion I hope.

It is just a little crazy that the bathroom and kitchen both had icky spots that were not fixed before the house was listed. We try hard to keep up with fixing/replacing at our house (like you do).

How old is that range hood. Doesn't look like it's ever had a touch of cleaner! Will be interesting to hear what the new idea is for the shed. Maybe she saw Stew the other day and had second thoughts. Fingers crossed. Kj

In New Zealand, a small structure should be no closer to a boundary than it is high. The Height in Relation to Boundary Rules do differ between local councils, but they all aim to achieve the same thing, which is avoiding buildings on one site physically dominating another site. Maybe helps explain the Hamilton Council rules.

  9. Just a thought re the shed. What would happen if you just refuse to budge? What is everyone pandering to one whiney couple, you were told it was okay, just because they can SEE the shed does not justify all this crap and put in perspective is not “ruining their retirement” etc. other residents all seem nice and I suspect others have suffered these morons as well. Unless there is a solution you are happy with tell them to get fucked. I wonder if nothing is done the whiners will move on to some other perceived night on their existence

I agree. Stew and Chris were told by management their new shed would be okay . So that couple can stuff it. ;-) Ky Girl

  11. Exciting stuff!

Surely they’re not going to dig down and decrease the height that way?
Kinda cool though a retainer cobblestones steps,

When it’s finalised and all renovations done have a shed party! Lol

  12. I can't believe how insanely fast things are coming together!! You are SO efficient. It would take me actual years to achieve all that stuff around the house re: managing all the tradies and all the new stuff and equipment etc. YEARS!!!!! Christy in Sydney

I hope the stress over your shed is sorted through, I was looking back at your photos of it, can you add a couple of more rows to the top of the fence to hide it from the neighbors?
    How frustrating for you all

  16. Getting the gas, the bathroom, the shed and everything else sorted will be amazing. Ignore that neighbour but be friendly and get on with village life.
