SPECIALIST APPOINTMENT & CHRISTMAS LUNCH

I bet today's comment section is really quiet compared to the last few days!  lol
It was certainly busy, and I enjoyed reading all the guesses.
Some of them made me think... hmmm, I wouldn't mind buying that at some point.
So, there might be another guessing game in a few months.  😂😉
Now, back to today.
We have a couple of things on.
First thing, we are attending a Christmas Lunch in the village.
Stew is taking a half day off so he can attend that and...
After the Christmas Lunch, we are heading off to FINALLY see the Orthopedic Knee Specialist.  Stew had been waiting about 3-4 months to be seen by this guy.  I am going with Stew, so I can STRESS just how much pain he is in.  We are hoping a knee replacement is confirmed as necessary, and he can get it done sooner rather than later.  At least he might get on a waiting list?
This morning, before Stew gets home for the lunch, I will continue working on those two runners.  It will be great to have them to add to my stock, for the last two markets of this year.

WELL!!!! Hello???
When I said comments would be quieter today I didn't expect NONE! 😪

ABOVE:  The second Wave Runner is done, and the third is about an hour and a half away from being finished as well.
I had forgotten just how LONG it took to make one of these, there's so much stitching involved.
Anyway... nearly done for now.
I just stopped and put me face on, changed my clothes and now... I'm waiting for Stew to get home so we can go down for lunch.
Thank you for the comments, I don't feel so alone when people pop in with a comment here and there.  😊  Yes, moving to this village was supposed to help with loneliness, but when you are at home sewing all day... yeah.

The village Christmas Lunch was WONDERFUL.  Beautiful meal, we were super impressed!
After lunch we left for the specialist appointment.

And that went exactly as we expected.
Options were discussed, and the only one with a realistic outcome to get Stew out of pain was the knee replacement surgery.
And we have already booked it in, going private, as waiting up to two years for public surgery is NOT an option.
It just means Stew will need to work a full year longer, to cover the big dent in our savings.

We are now home, and Stew is going to enjoy watching sport for a while, and I am going to finish that third runner.
I'll probably start ANOTHER one, as I've suddenly found my sewing groove again.

ABOVE: 'Entertainment' at the lunch ... three ladies who stood perfectly still and looked like statues.  Until they blinked, or had to change position.  It was ... interesting.   I felt sorry for them, it was so damn hot again today, and the Lady in Green started to melt.  Her face paint was running after two hours!
9.36 pm and I'm done.  I just spent an hour in the sewing room sorting fabrics out for tomorrow.
Stew's just gone to bed and I'm watching Coronation Street, before I too go to bed.
Tired.

You might be able to give away the elf at the luncheon.

I had the quilt guild Xmas party last week. I have a quilt guild board Xmas party tonight, and a dog club Xmas party tomorrow night.

  8. I have had private health insurance now for 35 years. It has enabled me to get all kinds of medical things done... colonoscopies, heart scans, knee replacement, mole removal, gall bladder removal, tumour removals x 2... wow I could go on and on. I totally understand you wanting to go private and it's a comfort for me to know that if my other knee goes I will have that covered. Knee replacement is an amazing operation and totally life changing. It is bloody painful though for awhile but so worth it! Surely you can manage with him not having to work another year though? When was Stew going to retire?

  10. Just home from appointments.
Glad lunch was great, and Stew has answers and a booking. I see knee surgeon in March, no private cover so will be going public if surgery needed.

    Those poor ladies…

  11. WHAT a weird thing - the lady statues.. They came to your village christmas lunch? It looks like the type of thing you see on busy toursit corners, buskers, collecting tips.
Two years wait...that really stinks... Its good that you have the means to do it privately. I know those knee replacements are effective. I play pickleball witha guy with 2 new knees!

Statues at your Christmas lunch 🤷‍♀️ very interesting but I’m not sure what message (if any) they give or just quirky committee members’ initiative

Can you join private health cover and then go in a year?

  14. I book elective surgeries at Palmy Hospital and the waiting list is nowhere near 2 years. It could be different in the waikato, but at a guess orthopaedics here would be 6 months max, depending on the surgeon. Heaps are outsourced to private surgeons to get done, but paid by public health.

Do you have an extra sewing machine that you can leave in the sewing room at your main building and go sew there for a bit each day? If not - You can probably pick up a basic machine for very little $ if you look for a good used one. My trick - I have five older sewing machines and they all take the same bobbins and presser feet. That simplifies everything. Without moving my regular machine, I can take the extras - one for me, one for my daughter, more for extra people, very easily. I also have a stash of supplies that I leave packed and ready to go.

Also are you swimming regularly and walking regularly? Both of those would also put you in the vicinity of people.

I wonder what / why the committee choose the 'lady statues' for the christmas lunch. Different for sure. Glad Stew going to get knee replacement surgery; painful recovery for a while but it will be worth it in the end! Dawn P. Albany, GA USA

  17. Sounds like a lovely luncheon. Glad to hear you got Stew sorted. We go private for most of our medical test and procedures too. All the taxes we pay and still have to come up with more money to cover necessary procedures that have years long waiting lists. All the best.
