ARE YOU A FRIEND, OR A FOE?

So, I sit and ponder things... sometimes far too much.

And what I'm pondering right now, after a steady stream of quite nasty comments (most unpublished)...  is, why do you read this blog?

Is it to enjoy, feel a part of my life, like seeing what I'm doing, and to be encouraging and nice?

Or is it to see what you can do to tear me down?

I have had over 100,000 comments over the lifetime of this blog. And I can say that probably 90% of them have been lovely.

The other 10%?  Not so nice.  And in fact, there's a few people who almost always comment with a negative connotation.  It isn't nice people.  If you have nothing nice to say, how about you just keep it to yourself?

It's Thursday.  I am going over to Cambridge this morning to join the girls at Mosaics.

8.35 am:  I've just been for a nice little walk along the river side.
As expected, I couldn't go far on 'our side' due to work being done.

ABOVE:  I came to 'the fence', and as it said the path was closed 'ahead', I carried on till I came to the closed part.
The sign also said 'Follow the Detour'... there was no detour.

ABOVE: There it was, a BEAUTIFUL BLUE TRACTOR!  That made my day.

The contractors have 9 weeks work ahead of them, building up the river bank with rocks, then building a boardwalk over it.
After it's done, even when the river is super high, we will be able to walk all the way along the riverbank till Pukete Bridge again.

ABOVE: The blue lines indicate where the boardwalk is going to start.  I can't wait to see it finished.  You will, of course, get to see it too.
😊😉

It is now 8.45 am, and it's time to head off to Cambridge.  I won't be doing any more mosaic work, or even knitting.  I might just sit and YAK.  lol

To any keyboard warrior... just remember there can be many 'interpretations' of what you write.  While you might not mean to offend, criticise etc... how someone else reads your words is up in the air!   I have fallen foul of this on many occasions myself, so it's not just you.
BE KIND.  BE CONSIDERATE. BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR WORDS.

  1. That is very sad. I read your blog every day (although I don't comment much) because I just love to see what is going on. You are always busy, always engaged, and I really appreciate that you do put your life out in the world.
I always think that the haters are just exposing how miserable they and their lives are. They feel a little bit of power every time they think they've hurt someone, and safe because they are anonymous. I kind of feel sorry for them, but I am much more sorry for you. It's horrible reading nasty comments, even if you know the bile is really just the commenter saying how much they hate themselves.

  3. I didn’t comment again yesterday for obvious reasons. I do think that what I said was taken completely the wrong way. I was a professional nanny for a few years so seeing a child with something plastic over their head did mean I felt I should say something. There was never any suggestion that either you or Bex were not totally in charge and looking after Lily. Bex is an amazing mother! My comment was directed at ‘if’ she did that out of sight with an actual plastic bag. Of course she was in no danger with you there.

I enjoy reading about your life, as do many others and I mostly only ever comment when I have something positive to say. I will tell you if I like what you have done, somewhere you have been or something you have bought. I also try to be constructive and have hopefully helped a few times over the many years we have known each other.
