PAINTING

Another week rolls around.

And this week I am going to be painting soffits.

First thing this morning Keera and I are off to buy paint.

Then once home, Lacy is going to join us and she will do some guttering cleaning, while I make a start on the painting.

I'm hoping that I can get it all done by the end of this week.

I was contacted by some random person on Facebook the other day.  A friend request.  Normally I ignore and delete.  But this time I was like... hmmm.  Maybe I recognise that name?

So I accepted the request, and was immediately contacted by them.

Turns out it was from a 2nd cousin on my mother's side of the family.  Some bloke who knew my Mum when he and his wife lived in Australia some years ago.

We arranged to have a video call on Saturday night.

And then I totally forgot about it.

So when my phone rang, and it was them, I was like ... oh hell!

It was really good though, because I didn't have time to stress out about what I was going to say to total strangers.

As it happened, we had a really lovely conversation, they were totally down to earth and I thoroughly enjoyed yakking with them.

ABOVE:  My cousin Laurie, and his wife Minky.  They live in Germany now.

I love that he has a ponytail!  lol

ABOVE:  My biggest stress the entire conversation was my damn phone was low on battery.  Grrrr.  Luckily, we managed to have a decently long conversation, while I plugged it into the power while yakking.

I hope we stay in contact.  You can't have too many family members eh?  😊

Right, I better get a move on, there's a few things to do before Keera and I head out to get that paint.

11.20 am:  Paint bought - TICK.

Lacy arrived - TICK.
On with the painting.
And in only 1 hour, Lacy and I have managed to paint the soffits on the longest length of the house!

ABOVE:  neither of us are any good with heights, but we managed.  We will need to do one more coat with the roller... in an hour or so.  Then that side will be done.

Stew is taking Friday off work to help get more done.

ABOVE:  Lacy picked all the peaches for me as well.  They are lovely according to Keera.

ABOVE:  Like me, she's not that keen on 'fluffy, hairy' skin.

Taking an hour's break now...

After Lacy and Keera left, I tried to have a nap.  What a joke.
So I decided to tackle another section of the soffit (house eaves).

ABOVE:  Happy to say I knocked out quite a big section on my own!  Luckily it is overcast now, I could NEVER have done it if the sun was out.  Not in a million years.

ABOVE:  Lacy and I stopped several times during our painting (which only took us an hour), and let Keera play in the pool.  Fully supervised of course.  She had a ball, either swimming, or helping us with drinks etc while we were painting.  Lovely little helper she was.

I am now 100% done for the day.  I am covered in paint, so need to have a shower and scrub next.

7.37 pm:  I can hardly move, I'm that tired.  Luckily, tomorrow it is supposed to rain, so I can't do any painting tomorrow.
It will be a rest day.

Usual evening here... catch ya tomorrow.

  7. That Lacey is worth her weight in gold. She and Keera are a winning team. With you at the helm of course. Well done!! Can your house shine anymore? Make those buggers pay, whoever they might be.
Fresh peaches! I prefer nectarines without that fuzz but the remind me of my Nanas fruit trees and eating them off the tree. Fruits of a kiwi summer.

Yellow peaches are my favourite fruit but I dislike the furry skin too. I have been known to scrub the fur off with a scourer. We have planted a peach apple and apricot this year so hopefully they will fruit next year. I think the nectarine will be coming out soon unless it starts fruiting soon

  10. Well how nice! My cousin contacts me every so often. I'm the baby on that side of the family so didn't really spend that much time with him personally but it is nice he takes time to talk to me.
