GOOD MORNING.
So today is PURGE DAY.
I'm getting rid of all my 'rusty bits'!
Not something I ever thought I would do. But I've lugged them all over the country for 25+ years. And I'm done.
They are just too big and cumbersome to have in the MUCH SMALLER garden we will end up having in our new home. (provided we get said new home eventually!)
It is going to be a job just fitting all our garden pots in the new place in fact. I might even have to re-home some of the bigger pots too.
Today's mission is to load all the rusty bits on our trailer, and take it over to a local scrap metal merchant.
After that Stew and I will get the house ready for the Open Home this afternoon, drop dogs off at Steve 'n' Bex's, before getting ourselves ready, and off to our friend's wedding.
9 am: And it's done.
ABOVE: The last thing to go on the trailer, our letterbox. That letterbox has been with us for over 28 years. My brother Vern made it for us. I'm sad to see it go, but also happy that we never have to move it again. It weighs A LOT.
We took 6 big items to the scrap metal yard, and combined it weighed 620 kilos. That is 1,366.8 pounds!
Moving on, we are now in 'get the house ready' mode.
ABOVE: On the road, passing the Tamahere Market. It's only the second time we have missed doing that market in 4 years.
ABOVE: Just as well we left early. The traffic is at a slow crawl. Hopefully it doesn't go on for too long.
ABOVE: These photos are back to front... this is me after the wedding. I did wear a necklace, but took it off after the wedding as it was driving me nuts. I'm not used to wearing necklaces.
ABOVE X'S 2: Mt Maunganui beach at 5 pm, still heaps of people there, enjoying the sunshine and water.
ABOVE: D, the bride, looked absolutely stunning in her dress. It is exactly the dress I would love to wear, if I ever marry Stew again.
ABOVE: It was a stunning venue, lots of interesting gardens and little buildings. Trust me to find some rusty bits, right after I got rid of all of mine!
ABOVE: One of the groom's little granddaughters. She had gathered quite a collection of sticks, then decided she didn't want them after all, and proceeded to emphatically throw them, one by one, back in the garden. It was very funny watching her.
Totally agree. Yeah for decluttering the yard. I think it will help in open housing/showing the house.

Enjoy yourselves at the wedding!! And of course you'll have photos
ReplyDeleteOh I'm sad you have done away with your rusty bits. :(
ReplyDeleteYour rusty bits have been with you for so long, it would be hard. But you could get another tattoo and make it Rusty Snapper lol. Kj
ReplyDelete620kgs!! Wowsers. You really are having a good declutter, I'm looking forward to doing the same once Cooper grows out of his toys, whenever that will be. He starts intermediate this year 😳
ReplyDeleteThere is no truer saying than ... Time Flies. Our Griffin is getting married next weekend. When we moved to Palmerston North he was a 5 month old baby. How did he get old enough to be getting married?!?
DeleteWhaaaattt???? I can still picture him in the kitchen at Ngahere Place eating spaghetti lol I cant access Pepsi anymore so I'm way out of date with your happenings
DeleteOMG I must have missed heaps too. I can’t access Pepsi either anymore. How exciting that Griffin is getting married.
DeleteGriffin, Wow, Congratulations. I am so pleased for you all. Kj
ReplyDeleteWell, that’s an efficient way to do it! Somebody else may have rehomed those cool relics. But maybe you don’t want to deal with that. It’s a cleanse. No worries! Dogstars

DeleteYou looked lovely in the pink dress, I, love your sunglasses, can you tell me where you got them please? Maggie Melb Au
ReplyDeleteA sunglass shop in Hamilton. The brand of my glasses is SKECHERS SE265 52 POLARISED. There's a few more letters/numbers after all that as well! I had had them for a year, so they might still be in stock over in Oz.
DeleteFar out, 620 kilos!!! As I’ve said before, I’m less is more, that is freaking me out😂. The bride looked amazing. Marie, Melbourne
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Griffin!
ReplyDeleteHow funny/convenient to have weddings back to back. You have your hair and bra ready!
