Well... after our house sale fell over, we had to approach the people who's home we had a contract to buy on. To renegotiate the 'UNCONDITIONAL DATE'... because clearly we couldn't proceed right now.
They came back with a really stupid change to the contract. Yes, they would extend the contract, BUT they wanted us, once our house sale was unconditional, to settle within two weeks with them. (pay the full amount)
That would have meant us getting bridging finance for A SHIT LOAD OF MONEY! It would have cost us thousands on top of the purchase price.
So we have been in negotiations (via our lawyers). And the people were not prepared to extend the settlement time frame, meaning they were trying to force us to get bridging finance once our home is sold.
So we WALKED AWAY. Cancelled the contract.
AND I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER !!!!
We shall now concentrate of selling our home... and NOT even look at anything else until such time as we have an UNCONDITIONAL contract on here.
I wish we had done that the first (and second time). We will get stung for lawyers fees AGAIN. But live and learn the hard way.
I'm still happy we walked away from this latest house purchase. I'm over dealing with people who are so inflexible and unreasonable.
Those people are rather silly really, because they have been on the market for way longer than us, and ours was the only offer they have had.
Heard that saying "A bird in the hand is better than two birds in the bush"? Clearly they haven't.
ABOVE: I was sitting in the wingback chair, and a thought came to me.... I can use the ottoman as a footstool if I want! Not all the time obviously, but sometimes. Yep.
I am thinking of putting casters on the bottom of the Ottoman, to make moving it much easier. What do you think. Good idea, or No?
Lots was happening on Friday. Easy to forget.
We have another open home today. It's around lunchtime, so I suppose we better get up and make a start on doing the few things necessary.
9.45 am, and everything is ready. AGAIN.
I've been down to the local plant shop and bought more lettuce plants.
This afternoon, after our Open Home, we are going over to Steve 'n' Bex's to take what we have stored there, over to our storage facility.
That way Steve has more room to move in his garage.
He's building a REALLY LARGE gaming table!
I can't remember what game he plans playing on it... but him and his mates will love it I'm sure.
Well, it's now 2 pm and the Open Home is over. Just two groups through today. Two is better than NONE.
After that, we picked up our stuff from Steve 'n' Bex's and took it over to the storage facility.
Now we are home and contemplating getting in the pool. It's another super hot, sticky day.
We definitely got in the pool. It is just so hot!
I'd hate to work in people's ceilings! It would be IMPOSSIBLE to work in that sort of temperature.
It was 30 degrees C outside this afternoon. Possibly our hottest day? Not sure, all I do know, it was swimming pool weather.
NOW? (6.48 pm)
ABOVE: Looking to the East! There's been thunder and lightening... but just a few spits of rain. So far. It will possibly blow over by the look of it. I hope it utterly pisses down, all the gardens and lawns need some water.
And it will cool things down.
Getting to sleep, and staying asleep at night is goddam hard right now. It's just too hot.
Just heard it on the NEWS, Hamilton was the official hottest place in New Zealand today, at 30.5 degrees C. And we are on an 'Active Thunderstorm Watch' as well. No shit! We have some lovely rain coming down now. Whoop!
Well, it may have rained, but it's still far too damn hot. I've got my fan beside me on FULL BLAST, and I'm still hot.
It's going to be a long, diabolical night.
And on that score, I'm going to bed soon.
Haha. I thought the ottoman was a foot stool when I first saw them.
ReplyDeleteShame about the house but I agree to walk away when people are so inflexible- how silly they are! But I know that the perfect house will come along once you have an unconditional sale.
Shame about the house, in your case I would walk away too. The perfect place for you is out there waiting.
ReplyDeleteOhh I too thought the Ottoman was a foot stool.
Drooling still. Your new furniture is fabulous. I'm looking at my old wooden chairs with arms which need recovering and pondering.. kj
ReplyDeleteVery relaxing mode with your feet up on ottoman, casters would certainly make it better for your back for moving it. Walking away from other house best move.
ReplyDeleteI too assumed you bought ottoman in order to put your feet up.
ReplyDeleteWould rollers make it scoot away while using it?
Vickie
A wise decision to wait. That way you have complete control over the selling of your place and can stay there until you get exactly what you want.
ReplyDeleteI say YES to the POOL!! It is such a nice way to wash away the cares and frustrations. Have a glass of wine and just float. Ky Girl
ReplyDeleteApparently it was 42 in Melbourne according to my brother.
ReplyDeleteIf it was that hot here I'd never get out of the pool!
DeleteAt the moment (5pm) it's 40 in Adelaide. I hate summer!
DeleteI thought the ottoman was in fact meant for the feet . Not sure about the wheels, what if you just leave it there. We got half a foot of snow today. Dogstars
ReplyDeleteI bought the Ottoman as an extra 'seat', and for storage. I didn't even think of it being a 'foot stool' until it was here in the house! Snow... OMG I'd love something really cold right now. But only for a little while. I detest really hot, and really cold weather. I'm quite contrary in fact. lol
DeleteChris I like your drink
DeleteCup the Avanti one I was wondering though does it tip
Over due to the top
Being wider than the bottom part.
No it does not tip at all. The bottom is narrower to allow it to fit in your car's cup holder. It's just so neat!

ReplyDeleteOMG -- 40 degrees some days here, in the West of Sydney and high 30s in town. Suuuppper hot and more to come no doubt - Christy in Sydney
ReplyDeleteI think I cannot live in Australia ever, ever, ever! Just too hot for me. We have a very moist, humid heat, which I think you don't get? The humidity makes it feel hotter, certainly stickier.
DeleteYou could probably live where we are on the coast Chris. We have mild temperatures, hot today is 30 but island there are a few days of 40 expected
DeleteDee
oh there is my humidity question :)
Delete40 in Melbourne today. Marie, Melbourne
ReplyDeleteIn Melbourne and we went on the Pride marcb today, it was crazy hot! Luckily there were slushies at the end. It was fun! But now too hot...
ReplyDeleteGeez we've had a high of 22 today but I don't believe it. About 25 I reckon. Hate the extreme heat at bedtime. So frustring trying to get to sleep. Kj
ReplyDeleteI'm assuming it is humid there too. That's not too hot here but we don't usually have a lot of humidity.
