ERRR DID I MENTION THE RASH?

Well I suppose I should have mentioned the rash on me hairline and the large lump on me head too eh? Lol... the lumps are swollen glands caused by an infection or something!

So I'm on antibiotics for a week... the Dr thinks I either have infected hair follicles (NICE) or... bloody SHINGLES....cos of the pains I'm getting radiating up me head in bursts. Even NICER!

So, if the antibiotics don't work it's shingles and I have to go back on Monday.... fingers crossed the antibiotics work!

The Doctor asked me if I'd been unwell lately... NO....
Had I been under any stress lately.... YES..... WELL MADAM, (he said)... that can cause shingles! LOVELY.

I have so far had ONE huge antibiotic pill (last night) and I already have bloody diarrhea! So, todays I am thinking I will be spending most of today here:

Luckily I have a good book handy. THAT'S. ALL. FOLKS. ha ha ha!

While I was waiting at the chemist's last night, I saw these 'things' on the counter..... at first I thought they were CONDOMS... but no, it's something to help you NOT get a hangover! It really, really ticked me fancy:

TESTED ON AUSTRALIANS.....

now come on I had to laugh!!!

I am a kiwi... and I like LOTS of Australians... but there really is a healthy rivalry between our two countries eh? lol

I'm sewing again... it's the most rotten day out there, wind and rain... THANKS Aussy, it came from your side of the ditch!

End of Day: a long day stuck inside... and now it's 10.40 pm and it's like a sauna inside... and still raining! nite nite.

When I had shingles in started with grape sized lumps on the back of my neck right in the hairline. I then got them on the sides of my head. Ummmmm... shingles suck. I hope you don't have that.

  5. Chris, I read you on CB's Rightous Buzz.

Yes it sounds like shingles. I suffer from a chronic case of face shingles. I get the least bit stressed my immune system goes to hell and I break out in shingles.

I have used Valtrex to ward them off but if I'm in full break-out mode then I just have to get plenty of rest and chill the hell out.

    Hope your better soon!

  7. Peter's had shingles - and sorry you won't feel like reading!! Painful:-(

Could be neuralgia which causes a similar nerve pain but it's nowhere near as bad and eases in a couple of days.

    Good luck!

  9. You think you might have had stress lately? Hmm. You had to think for awhile before answering that one, didn't you??

I sure hope you feel better soon!!

  10. Well I sincerely hope it's not shingles! Shingles are [is?] really grim. Hoping you have greater success with the horse sized antibiotics [why do they do that, is is some kind of joke or a challenge!] As for the bathroom, might be worth asking for a different prescription that avoids that particular side effect, unless the prescription comes with a free side order of toilet rolls.......well you gotta ask?
    Wish you well sooner

  13. Are the bumps like little blisters? If so, sounds like shingles. If the antibiotics are giving you diarrhoea, see if you can take them with food and if that doesn't help (or you are already) ask for a different one. I'm guessing you might be on something like Keflex? Often prescribed for skin conditions and has nasty gastro side effects in some people. Did the doctor swab anything? That would tell whether infection or shingles.

    I'll shut up now!!

  15. Oh Chris, I've had shingles - only they went along my chest nerves which meant my left boob felt like it was being stabbed with a butcher knife... hope you feel better soon, no matter what the diagnosis! enjoy your book!

  16. Bloody diarrhea? I hope you mean as in annoying and not actual blood, cause that would suck.
    Get better, soon!

  17. Okay, Chris, I know you're not blasting any people, but me thinks you need a little prayer right now!

I hope the antibiotics work fast, and your discomfort goes away with the infection.

I love the picture of the little guy on the pot. Been there.... and the ad for not getting a hangover. What a riot! I'll bet you just cracked up once you realized what it was for. My first glance at the picture was the same as you...I thought it was condoms, too!

Anyway, please take care, and I hope you find a way to de-stress.

Sorry to hear the results Chris. Shingles can be nasty so I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and hope it's the other. How do you do those Cathedral windows so fast. There is a really neat book out with fantastic patterns using Cathedral Windows. New Zealand Quilter had it in Wellington. Take care and get well soon.

  23. So you are turning into a mutant then? lol

That hangover thing is really funny! Considering Australians can't seem to even go to the loo without celebrating with a beer, that company would have got LOTS of research done!! lol

I sincerly hope it is not shingles but I wanted to give you a tip, if it is. Take some vitamin B12 or ask your doctor to give you an injection of it. I had reoccuring shingles over two years and my doctor tested my b12 levels and they were very low. several b12 injections later and I have stopped them reoccuring.
    Good luck!
