Someone (Anon) suggested I make a heart shaped cushion for our bed, to match all the hearts on the wall.
I think that's quite a nice idea. So today I am going to make one.
A few years ago, there used to be a craft market at Te Kowhai, which is a little village not too far from Hamilton. It ended when they lost the use of the land they were using.
Last month a new market popped up in that village, and apparently it went quite well.
Stew and I had planned on going as spectators this coming month, but last night I decided to apply for a stall.
I sent an email and got a reply immediately, saying they only had ONE stall site left, and it was ours if we wanted it?
Of course I said yes.
It will be the first time we will be doing two markets in one weekend. Tamahere on the Saturday, and Te Kowhai on the Sunday.
I hope the new one is worthwhile.
ONWARD...
11.30 am, and I have done the freakin' heart cushion:
ABOVE: It's a bit bigger than I anticipated, and I was not going to make the entire cushion heart shaped. So, there it is. I had to re-arrange the other cushions a bit to make it 'work'... but yeah. DONE.
We are going out shortly to return our friend's exercycle, Stew was only using it once a day, and he can now walk down to the gym and use the one there, after work.
I got sick of having to work around having it in our lounge. And try stubbing ya toe on one of those things! NOT FUN.
1.20 pm: While working in Crabby Quarters this morning, I realised that my feet, while having socks AND Ugg boots on, were getting really cold on the concrete floor.
So I had this bright idea.
Get a rug. I suggested that to Stew and he was like, OK.
We took the exercycle back to Glen's and then stopped in at Mitre 10 to look at cheap rugs.
I sure in hell wasn't spending thousands on a garage rug.
ABOVE: There were 3-4 that would have done the job, but this one leapt out as a good fit, and in keeping with what's already in the house.
We actually had one almost identical to this in our last home, but we left it in the house when we sold it! Derrr. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
ABOVE: And there it is. It covers most of the areas I sit/stand, so now it just has to settle down. It's edges are sticking up a bit, so I'll have to be careful not to trip over them, until they flatten out.
We got a phone call from one of my Mum's sisters at lunchtime. She's over here visiting one of her brothers, who had a heart attack yesterday afternoon, and was helicoptered over to Waikato Hospital from Tauranga late yesterday.
He's had a stent put in, so is out of danger for now.
Anyway, Joyce is going to be staying with us tonight, so later on we will have to get the bed settee set up for her. Thank goodness for the bed settee. π
While out at Glen's today, I spied in his garage a piece of furniture, clearly not being used. I asked about it? It has been 'in storage' at Glen's for about 10 years, left by some friends of his.
I enquired if they would like to sell it?
So he did some ringing around, and it is now ours. For FREE!
It will mean moving a few things around in our lounge to get it in... but it will be worth it.
There will be photos... at some point.
7.15 pm. Joyce arrived late afternoon, while Lacy, Stew and I were in the thick of moving stuff around in the lounge.
But, we got it all done (photos maybe tomorrow?).
Then we took Joyce out for dinner at The Foundation.
ABOVE: Joyce, a bit bamboozled by the electronic ordering device. She got the hang of it though, and got herself a lovely glass of wine.
ABOVE: Dinner arrived, and we had a very pleasant dinner together. We sat near to the open fire, which was just lovely.
We are home now, and it's time to chill out and just relax.
Catch ya tomorrow.

You are the ambitious one! Wow.
ReplyDeleteI can see a big advantage, if they are both good markets, able to load the vehicle once to cover both markets.
ReplyDeleteVickie
Yep, we thought of that too. Win win.
DeleteThe pillow is so cute!
ReplyDeleteYes it is , and it's BLUE! lol
DeleteGreat idea re rug, I have seen heater pads shape like a partition they are under table size and fit under desks tables and have sides (flexible to shape) or an oil heater in garage.
ReplyDeleteWhat about sliding insulation blocks into garage door slats to fit and insulate door?
Might have to use your heat pump to warm house for visitors.
Was a very cold foggy day today I’ve just woken up,
Yes, I am resigned to turning the heat pump on this winter.
DeleteIf you leave heat on at a low setting, to take the edge off, it will make a huge difference (vs turning it on for just a bit on a higher heat setting).
DeleteA thick mat, like one puts in front of a kitchen sink, right where your feet are, under the table with the sewing machine (on top the rug), will make a big difference.
Vickie
So good you were able to find the floor rug similar to what you had
ReplyDeleteI get the tripping thing from the ends so 100% concentration needed ( says she who trips on fresh air) lol
It’ll be nice to catch up with your visitor and hope all goes well at the Hospital for the next few days π
Waikato Hospital has a great reputation for up to date medical things .π️
Lovely youre getting a new addition for the lounge .
Will look out for pics next week πΊπΏπΈπ
Cheers π₯
Ele tonic ordering device? Ye gods and little fishes. Hope, and believe, it will be a very long time before something like that arrives here! Good for Joyce. She deserved that glass of wine π
ReplyDeleteThe market looks good. Food specials too. Hmm you'll have to survey those too π for the blog of course
'for the blog of course'... lol! Too right.
DeleteJoyce is just lovely. I really like that sweater.
